CODY MThe truck had 162k miles and I could feel them. Ok for a local event but we have an event in Houston coming up and I’m nervous.
VIVEK DFirst truck that I picked up had a screw in the tire. The low-pressure tire symbol was on the dash and when I asked about it, the person told me "it's just a sensor - It's been that way for a while". But, when I got out and looked there was a screw sticking out of the tire. I had to bring the truck back. When I picked up a replacement truck. The truck was a newer model. But the AC was blowing warm air - out of freon apparently. And the truck had a strong pull to the right. Won't be back to this location.

DEAN FThe attendant marked the field level at 1/4 of a tank on the paperwork. When I started the vehicle it was actually at 1/8 of a tank. I have the picture. Shortly after the lower tire pressure light came on. Later the vehicle would not start and the battery had to be replaced. While refueling the vehicle before returning it, the vehicle wouldn’t start again and had to be repaired again. When dropping off the vehicle the attendant admitted knowing the alternator was bad. Thanks for knowingly renting me an unsafe vehicle. This was all during a 4 hour rental. If you want to make good, please refund my money and issue a credit for a future rental.

Randy SEverything was great with the pick up location! Friendly, helpful employee! The app is bad. It would not load, when I went to pick up the truck, and unselected insurance after I chose it and clicked next. It also would not allow me to upload my drivers license photos successfully. The app also shows a deceptive “back” button that looks like it would take you to the previous page, but instead takes you to a previous menu, deleting any progress you had made.

JAMES MThe gentleman that worked with me when I picked up the rental truck was somewhat rude. Although I was there on-time — just before that day’s closing time— he made sure that I understood I was lucky to have caught him when I did because he was ready to leave, stating that he had other things to do. He also rattled off instructions about taking pictures of my driver license by he spoke so quickly that I didn’t catch everything he said. When I questioned him about the process he made a snide remark about my question. If I had heard his response clearly I certainly would not have asked the wuestion. As a customer — and renting a truck for the first time — I expect and deserve more courtesy than this gentleman exhibited. Other than this incident the experience was favorable. Return was certainly easy and painless. Thank you.

ZOE HWhen I arrived a little after 8 AM to pick up the truck, I entered the office and waited for a few minutes before an employee (I believe his name is Carl) came in from the garage. He seemed frustrated, mentioning that he couldn’t get any work done because customers kept interrupting him. As he tossed an engine seal onto the counter, he mentioned he was working on a Jeep that normally takes 10 minutes, but he’d been at it for over an hour. I eventually received the truck, which was generally decent but had a dirty windshield and a dusty dashboard. When I got home and tried to open the back, the roll-up door’s locking mechanism was extremely stiff, so I lubricated it, which made it easier to operate. The truck, with 158,700 miles on it, drove as expected. Due to issues with the property manager at my son’s UNT apartment not having working keys, I had to extend the reservation. We returned the following day and successfully completed the move. Throughout this experience, Monetta from U-Haul customer service was very kind and helpful, which I greatly appreciated after a long and frustrating day. Upon returning the truck, Carl was in the office again, this time annoyed because he was trying to eat lunch. I informed him that I refueled the truck and lubricated the roll-up door mechanism, but he didn’t acknowledge my comments. After a minute, he said he’d email me the receipt when he finished eating. The following day, I called and spoke with Ebony, who was very helpful in explaining the charges. She also asked about my experience, and I shared my feedback with her, which she said she would pass along. Having rented from U-Haul many times over the past 20 years, I’ve always appreciated the availability and reliability of your vehicles. However, this recent experience was unlike any I’ve had before. My suggestion would be to ensure that the local operator either hires someone specifically for customer interaction or better manages his dual roles. His focus on automotive repair seems to be affecting his ability to effectively assist customers. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback.

GREGORY HThe interior of the unit has gas grill charcoal/residue all in it, which of course got all over our furniture. I cleaned it up, but shouldn’t have had to. Then we had a tire blowout on the way to our destination.

Bryan MThe customer service to rent a trailer was terrible. It took 11 phone calls to uhaul to get a trailer rented. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago. Example, we have a trailer, we dont have a trailer, your truck is not big enough, we cant find your reservation, the trailer is not in, that price was for a different trailer, we are closing at 4pm.....etc. You guys make it almost impossible to rent....If I didnt need the trailer real bad I would have gave up after 6 calls to you..... I dont know how many times I have called to be told there are no trailers to rent only to go by your facility and find several unused on the lot!!! Yea...they are all reserved....right..... Your small town mom and pop dealers are your only salvation....

Charles MThe person there had no clue what was going on and was going to charge us an additional 100 dollars to drop it off. Called the u-haul number and told us to go to a different location to drop off, wasn’t the best conditions but worked ok using the app that was given to us.

Che KWhen we reserved this U-Haul trailer, it was to be dropped off in Denton, Texas. However, when the contract was emailed to me, they had changed the drop off location to a neighboring town nearly a half hour away. That was both frustrating and inconvenient since we had to pass a massive, beautiful U-Haul facility in Denton, Texas and drive almost an additional hour round trip.
