I denied insurance on both the original reservation and in person and still got charged a $15 insurance fee. After bringing it up to the clerk she said she wasnt able to take it off although she agreed i had denied the coverage. Shady business

Location was great employees were good phone customer service was horrible. They changed my location added 35 miles to my route at $1.89 or 39 a mile whatever it is and then she said it said it on my reservation which it didn’t and she argued with me and she said it said it could change and I said it could change, but it doesn’t say it did change terrible service

Peter RThey did not have my reservation because the previous renter failed to check in the return and the person there did not know how so they had to call someone to come and help. The person who came did not check and enter the correct mileage at pickup and added insurance not wanted without my knowledge. When I returned, this delayed the return 30 min in addition to the 30 min morning delay and I had to check in with their phone in the system as a result. They need to train employees better.
Arnold PTruck was nearly new. It was great. When I arrived there was a lot of items in the back that the rental person removed. She also said that the truck had 1/4 tank. It was on empty. I filled it up. Upon return I said that it was not at 1/4 and that I filled it up. She said that people are constantly stealing gasoline from the trucks. That cost me over $100 since it holds over 25 gallons. This is a gas station. They don’t have the time to deal with rentals. To pick up the truck took over 20 minutes plus the time for them to clean out the bed of the truck. Upon return and checkin it took about 20 minutes while I waited Inside with other gas station customers waiting and being very annoyed. The truck was great but everything else was sub par. I usually rent from Enterprise as they are truly professional. This was a poor experience customer service wise in comparison. It is not the gas station attendants fault. She’s trying to do two completely different jobs at once. This is a failure by U-Haul to pick the right places for people to pick up their rentals. In my eyes U-haul is a poor experience.
John CThe exterior of the rental unit was extremely dirty, interior of the unit was dirty as well. Please ensure your rental equipment is washed before renting to another customer, appearance goes a long way customers.
Frank GCheck-in and checkout experience could be better. Wasn't very sure if the fuel has to be filled up. As you are charging based on miles, can you not add fuel cost as well so that person need not fill up gas before handing over.

Carmen RThe truck was clean enough but could have been cleaned on the outside as well. The bed as well as the outside was filthy. Pickup location had rude staff and there was no communication about the lockbox for the key. I was never given a code to return the key to the lockbox. The truck was low on oil and washer fluid, and had some problems idling. Renting from previous locations The truck was in good condition, topped off fluids with a full tank of fuel, whereas this truck had half a tank. Not everything can be perfect every time, but it seemed like there wasn't any effort for the price of this rental.

Rodolfo MI was directed to the wrong location. The U-haul person was trying to do all U-haul business on a cell phone. was hard to understand U-haul personnel should have a computer to make check in and out faster and should be able to speak and understand english
Tyrone CPickup was a little confusing, no one spoke English or asked for my ID or any information verifying I was the correct person for pickup. But U-Haul reached out to me the next day and we took care of everything over the phone.

Anne MAt first I try picking it up with the app, it didn’t work. It says 24/7, but when I was there it told me I had to wait until 8am. Then I canceled to try to just set up the pick up with the person inside, and the person inside didn’t know how to do it and even had me try to do it myself on their computer. Horrible service, she was nice but why did I even had to use their computer to try to get my reservation? Then, the van didn’t even had a full tank. And it took over 2hrs for me to get the rental.

Gregory FThis location needs to have a dedicated person to take care of the U-haul transaction. The woman at the counter had too many customers in the mini-market to be able to process the transaction in a timely manner. I was there for an hour just to pick up the van. Luckily the return only took about 10 minutes! This is my complaint to U-Haul: My rental had a quarter tank of fuel and I was told to return the truck with at least a quarter tank of fuel. I asked if there was any documents to let me know how much to add to cover about 100 miles - no, was the answer. So, I put fuel in and ended up returning the van with a quarter tank MORE than when I picked it up. WHY can't you go back to returning the rental full? Trying to calculate the fuel needed when it's an unfamiliar vehicle, is an unnecessary and complicated process that can easily be avoidable!!! This new policy is really not a smart one.
Teresa CHave people who actually supply you with what you rented and paid for and have people not take care of their own children behind the counter but actually facilitate returning a vehicle. I was met with laziness and sheer terrible customer service. You are lucky i didnt write a review. Literally the worst experience i have ever had and will NEVER be renting from uhaul again. There are plenty of better companies out there.

I asked them if they needed any info., and they just took my name. This was a very strange interaction, and at one point thought I was in the wrong place .The person was nice, but seemed really surprised I was returning the truck at their location.

pllumb mMore professional staff, clean the truck out prior to renting it and ensure there is AT LEAST 1/4 tank of gas. Not indicate in contract the gas is 1/4 tank and then cross it out on customer copy telling the customer to show a picture of gas level being below 1/4 when The truck is returned while reminding customer there is no credit for extra gas.
Stephanie GI had an awful experience trying to rent from this location. The workers had absolutely no idea what they were doing and weren’t able to help me at all. I had to personally go behind the counter and do the entire reservation myself. This experience has made me question whether or not I will use U-Haul again. Somebody needs to go train the workers on how to properly set up a reservation.

Kevin BWhen a reservation is made online, make sure the vehicle is available at that location. Pick up process should be easy & seamless. Do not allow a reservation to be made if that specific vehicle is not available. Customer service reps should be trained for ease of pick up/drop off at all locations. Pick up should not take two hours and multiple phone calls to customer service. Do not charge credit card until vehicle is picked up.

Keith NWith so many choices in Gilroy, this location didn't have the blankets I requested, the size truck I wanted and the attendant didn't speak English. I'd use U-haul again, but not from this location.
Kevin Hthe associate was to busy with the people that were pumping gas and so my service kept being put asside cause her priority was gas first, i would recomend to friends if its like a last resort but i would have to explain that it took nearly 1hour and a 1/2 to get my service done.
