This has nothing to do with the location but the mobile process. It was pointless as I had to essentially repeat the process in the store. It was also very confusing and I’m an experienced mobile user. The people in the store were very helpful. I would absolutely recommend them.

Nothing was explained to me when I picked up the van, I got no paperwork and when I returned the van it took me 30 min to check out, which I was then charged $250 additional for the late truck check in. My original bill was under $100. This is robbery!!!!! I will never use U-Haul again and will make sure everyone I do business with is aware of how awful this experience has been. Apparently technology is a good excuse to fuck people over.

Rented a van and it was a gong show getting my reservation right from the start, then I got a harassing phone call from the guy who rented to me telling me that I had to drop the van off 6 hours early!! So here’s the worst part, after not even getting any paperwork or Doing any vehicle inspection when I left the shop, this asshole dings me with $1300 Bill for damage that I never did! He was very unprofessional just took my info tossed me a dolly and pads and the key and away I went! I wouldn’t ever go back to this location or recommend anyone to go! What was supposed to be a 2 to 3 hundred dollar rent is now at 1300 for some crooked shop owners incompetents!

1) would be helpful to know about parking in advance - for example that we could park our vehicle in the uhaul truck spot. The right side (passenger) mirror was loose and kept moving. Would have also been more convenient to have more than 1/4 tank of gas to begin. Otherwise, everything was super smooth and convenient!

I rarely right reviews, but feel it was important to share my experience. In addition to the very poor service I received from the business the vehicle was parked at, I have never had such a terrible experience using a companies website and app. After 4 calls to customer service and 45 minutes of time after I arrived, I was finally able to get the keys. Here are a few notes - by no means does this cover everything, but these are the highlights. At one point, a customer service person told me I shouldn’t be using the app (what?!). If the app is that bad, you shouldn’t have one. When entering my date of birth and drivers license expiration dates, the format shown was dd/mm/yyyy. I received multiple messages saying they were incorrect, so I called customer service again. The guy I spoke with (James?) immediately said “use dashes”. I thought this was weird based on the format shown in the example above, but he was very confident this was the issue. Unfortunately this didn’t work, but eventually I tried another format change (mm-dd-yyyy) and it worked. James was very helpful, and probably the only half decent experience I had this morning, but I felt terrible for him because the tools UHaul was providing him weren’t even accurate. Lastly, when my identity was being confirmed, the screen said “please wait”. There was a note telling me I could type to chat with someone, but I decided to give it some time for them to approve me. 10 minutes in nothing had happened, so I typed a quick message just asking for an ETA so I could tell my destination when I would be arriving. 10 minutes later there was still no response or approval, so I called customer service again. While I was on the phone the approval finally went through. I rarely complain about service, but I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I felt terrible for your staff, and the people at the pick up location offered no help whatsoever. I hope these notes help you find opportunities for improvement. I can assure you U-Haul will no longer be a company I use or recommend.

I had ordered a half dozen furniture blankets with the van and when I went to pick up the van I was told that the blankets were not available. This was extremely frustrating as I ordered the blankets in advance to protect my furniture but I had to do without them during my move.

The people working there are very nice and the van was clean and in good shape. Unfortunately, the van was not available for the time we had rented it. We got it nearly an hour late. By the time we got where we were going, loaded the van, and got to the recycle depot the depot was closed. We missed it by 10 minutes. I have now had to arrange for the city to pick-up the items at an additional cost.

This is to give you an update on the disputed charges from Uhaul. After receiving the statement, I drove back to the pick up store to see what the reasons for the charges has been. We arrived there 1:00 pm and had to wait for ten minutes because the store attendants needed to call someone else to show up. The guy who came was not the same person who rented the car to us and accepted he is not the manager or business owner. He claimed the manager is not available. Below I am summarizing what happened there: 1) your agent claimed the car has been towed away because we parked it at wrong spot. FYI, the store has security camera and when we returned the truck, the store attendant checked the parking spot and confirmed. The truck was still parked at in the back alley adjacent to where we parked. 2) we checked the odometer, it was not changed from the time we dropped the car which meant the truck was not driven since then. Gasoline level was also the same level so no refueling had happened. A brief clarification as these trucks take a while after ignition to accurately show the gas level and it was on the same 1/4 tank as we received it. 3) The attitude of the guy was terrible. Did not let us talk and pointing his finger towards us. I believe your agent is running a shady business totally apart from Uhaul values. Lastly, I would like to get a refund and an apology from one of Uhaul managers not to escalate the incident further more and I want Uhaul to take appropriate prevention measures to make sure no other customer has to go through a similar experience. I would like to continue business with Uhaul but this incident was far away from a fare one.

There are two stores side-by-side. Weeks ago I made reservations for a 10' truck and my confirmation stated a pickup at My Uptown Party. I showed up at My Uptown Party (according my to reservation) at 10:00 am and they advised that the 10' truck was broken. They didn't seem to alarmed, even though we were! We had to prompt them to call uhaul to see what could be done. In the meantime they offered us a van, which was a completely unacceptable option. The man that we dealth with at this location was rude. First, by insisting that the reservation was with Golden Coins, even though I showed him my reservation that showed My Uptown Party. He is also the same person I spoke to on Saturday when I called ahead of our reservation just to confirm everything was good for our Monday reservation. Before I could finish my sentence, he interrupted and curtly said "if you have an email confirmation, then you have a reservation". Had he let me finish my question he would have been alerted to the fact that I was enquiring about a truck that was broken. Second, our concern about the fact that the truck we had reserved weeks earlier was met with a shoulder shrug. We are still confused about why arrangements weren't made to have a working vehicle waiting for us when both clerks told us that their 10' truck had been out of commission for some time. Why were we not called in advance? Uhaul sent us another truck, but it put us behind by half an hour. We had 4 movers waiting for us on the other end. I get it that unforseen things happen, but there was nothing unforeseen about this. Our reservations were on the books for weeks, and the truck was broken for days. We rented a truck through Uhaul using the Arnie's Market pick up location in New Westminster in August last year. That experience was completely different. The staff was polite and helpful. The move went off without a hitch. I would like a response to explain why this last experience was so negative.

I went to one store where the lady kept helping other people over myself (waited 30 mins) then she sent me next door where the guy was better there. He didn't go over the rental with me just sent me on my way, so I looked at the gas gauge myself and put more gas then required in and I was charged $25 when I got my invoice the next day.

Very disorganized service at location with limited knowledge of system requirements and also poor communication skills by personnel to create a smooth payment transaction. There was a sexist joke made by the male uhaul contact employee that created an uncomfortable atmosphere and upon returning rental truck there was extremely limited space to park as contact employee put their personal vehicle in designated parking spot. The rental truck itself had a check engine light which caused unnecessary anxiety as there was indicated to be no particular mechanical reason for it. Disappointed as we would have preferred a pick up truck or van, and there was a van unrented in the visible vicinity of dispatch.

I found this experience to be quite rewarding! I didn't have to travel very far to pick up the vehicle and I was permitted to take it early. I was able to finish my loading and unloading early and it saved me a lot of time. Thank you U-Haul!!! I will definitely rent from you again!!! Best regards!!!! A very satisfied customer!!!!!!!

Man at front desk claiming to be owner was very rude. He would not let me return rental an hour early as he claimed I was not allowed to return equipment early. Also would not give me a reciept (paper or email) and I am still yet to receive anything. This was a horrendous experience and I am still in a state of shock as to what occurred. I am somebody who has rented many trucks from Uhaul in the past and have nothing but positive experiences, this was something very upsetting. Thanks, Harry Kaila

Worst experience ever! I've always used uhaul and never had a problem but this golden coin plus took one hour to get the truck ready when I had an appointment! The charged me close to 100.00 I had to call my credit card company right away as the store had one that new how uhaul worked. Awful absolute garbage experience.

Both ends of the transaction were complicated since there was an automatic system change to our rate to "secure" the best rate. Confusing when it was rented online with certain contract details. Vendor was as helpful as possible but it felt stressful and a waste of my time to have booked online for the amount of time the whole thing took.

I hate to wait for the guy to come from his break to pick up the truck. The cashier had no idea on how to help me. After waiting 20 mins for the guy to process my rental I was already agitated by then. Dropping off the truck , guy was on a break again. Cashier could not get ahold of him , she told me just to leave and they would email me my receipt , I said I’m not comfortable not knowing what he would charge my credit card. So I waited and waited while my ride waited outside. I will never rent from this location ever again. Very sketchy in my eyes.

You really should have a few people work through the website, the reservation process and picking up a vehicle. The pickup in this case may not be representative becuase a lot of that has to do with the particular vehicle. You had probalby identified less than 10% of what was wrong with it using your little X's and what what left not identified woudl cost thousands to fix according to your own website. Someone electing not to take the collision damage option could find themselves royally screwed if they didn't do a thorough inspection and have something like a ladder with them to do it. The 10 minutes estimate for pickup was wildly unreaslistic in this case. The rental starts at the time you have it booked even though it may take you an hour or more to get the vehicle ready to go and wait on line for representives who don't understand they are asking you to disclose personal health numbers. The website is bad, it confused US and Canadian dollars even on the same screen. It has you accept things in the foreign currency. It isn't intuitive and is somewhat reminicent of how we'd have done things a decade ago. There is no indication during the providing of peronsl information during the pickup process that the dialog is secure (not https, no SSL certificate). My advice to anyone needing a 4 hour rental who actually needs anywhere near 4 hours woudl be to forego the web based pickup and work with the local agent. Sit on them to document the real damage to the vehicle and to start the rental clock once that has all been done.

The person responsible to do uhaul transactions at this location cannot be relied upon in respect to credit card information. I have been charged 3 different amount for the same contract. I have been overcharged for the service given to me. I consider the overcharged as stealing money from other person credit card.

The place was a bit sketchy with some shady looking guys in the alley way. Also there is no parking besides pay parking on the street and this does not help if you drive on your own to pick up the truck. I did not want to park my car in the uhaul space due to the uncertainty of the alley way.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences, ever. With no other customers in the store, I had to wait 15 minutes just for the guy to come out of the back with his laptop to look up my booking. I was then required to fill in extra information, in addition to what I had to fill in online to "complete" my booking. Then either his UHaul credit terminal wasn't working, or he didn't know how to use it, which resulted in him having to phone someone - again, even though I had filled all my information in online. I finally get to the truck which is parked out back of the store, only to find that the store owner next door has parked behind the truck. More delays as he has to be located, then come out & move his vehicle. When I returned the vehicle an hour later, I asked if he wanted to check the vehicle, or if I had to sign anything "no, we will just send you an email" was the response. I get home to find they have already sent the email, and billed me for over 100km's, when I had only gone slightly over 10kms. Back to the location I go AGAIN. The guy then has to phone the manager again, who says that the day before the truck was "Self-driven" (I guess that means they used it themselves?), but the mileage wasn't adjusted for it. When the charge finally showed up on my MasterCard, there wasn't just one transaction for the correct amount, or two transactions for the original incorrect amount & then an adjusting credit - there were FIVE transactions - 2 for completely wrong amounts & their credit reversals & then one for the correct amount. I'm sorry, but this is an epic fail of customer service. I'll never be back.

The self check in process was complicated and timely. The app didn’t work, and after we spent a long time trying to get access to the truck keys through the app, we finally switch to the web version which worked. Then it had me perform a colour test but it was not clear that it was a reaction time test, so I didn’t know to answer quickly. As a result, I failed the test and was told I would be unable to rent the truck. Fortunately, the store owner at the pick up location was able to check me in on his computer and give me the keys. By this time, almost an hour of my two hour rental had passed. If the store had been closed at the time, I would not have been able to rent the truck altogether. What a terrible experience.

The owner/employees were really rude. When we asked questions regarding the rental they pretended not to be able to speak english but we overheard the gentleman on the phone speaking perfect english. When we dropped the truck off we attempted to go through the door we exited from when shown the uhaul and the owner yelled at us and insisted we walk around the block to come in through the front entrance. We did so thinking perhaps we would need to sign something but instead he snatched the key from my hands and ignored us when we asked about the reciept (we later received one via email). Moving homes is stressful enough and this locations owner made it a much more uncomfortable experience. I've used Uhaul for all my family moves since childhood and today was the first time I've been disappointed.

Didnt have any information on the booking, didnt know that I already checked in with online express, didnt give original requested van (though they did find the right one), didnt have the appropriate dolly (booked an appliance one, they only had reg one), didnt accommodate early arrival, numerous attempts to book through their computer done with me waiting in front of them (maybe they didnt know what they were doing?)... must have put it through 5+ times... took forever. I think it took approx 1 hour to get the 10' van. Would not recommend or book with this location again.

I got to the store and a man was called from the back to handle my transaction. Twice he told me i'd have to wait for him to go have his lunch before he'd process it. I told him that wasn't possible as I had people waiting on me. We get the process underway finally, i get to the vehicle and his delivery truck has blocked me in, I had to wait until they finished loading all their product in before I could leave. The alley where the vehicle is stored is also quite narrow and full of different commercial traffic making hard to leave.

There was only two hour parking for my own vehicle, and the move would take longer than two hours, so it was difficult finding a place to park my own car in order to take the van. Although your customer service reps were prompt and very polite, they gave me incorrect information. I talked to one customer service representative on October 2, 2017, prior to the move, and she told me I did everything right by (a) obtaining a UHail account in my own name (as I was going to book the van and pay) and (b) providing the drivers license photo and head shot of the driver, who was someone other than myself. But when I went to the location to pick up the van, the self serve system told me it had to be a picture of me and my drivers license and not the actual driver. That was very frustrating. And then despite checking and doublechecking the return my truck instructions, there was actually NO menu item for return my truck on the dashboard for my account, despite your customer service agent telling me to click on the 'return my truck' menu item. My friend couldn't locate it either. So it was frustrating because I got two contrary sets of instructions from two different Uhaul customer service reps. Plus, I wasn't allowed to apply my $20 Uhaul certificate towards payment! That is maddening, considering that I got that certificate in the first place because the one other time I booked a Uhaul truck, it wasn't available when I went to the location because your system was down.

The very concept of using Non-Uhaul locations to provide services to customers leads to non-professional treatment of your Clientele!! The self-service vehicle drop off / pick up wastes customers' time. I personally showed up in the location not knowing that I have to do the self-service!! What if I did not have a smart phone with data plan on it? Then, my move would be compromised!! Generally, I was disappointed at the Uhaul service I was provided!!!!

Service was mostly prompt and friendly. TrBelow average rating because I had added furniture blankets to the order, but when I arrived to pick up the equipment, I was told they didn't carry blankets yet at this location. They did reimburse me for the missing blankets, however don't allow people to order and expect things that you know you can't supply.

If I had known how difficult it would be for someone who isn't trained for UHAUL, I would have just went to UHAUL actual store. I think it should be mandatory for people who have contracts with UHAUL that they be trained, I had to wait 30 mins for someone

Make the online self serve application more seamless. There were no instructions on how to use the service in the confirmation e-mail and when I went to my reservation the can I rented wasn't linked to my profile. I called The U-Haul number I was provided and no one answered. I had to call U-Haul customer service 3 times to check in and wasn't able to pick up my vehicle until 7pm when I was supposed to pick up at 6pm because it wasn't linked properly to my account. Upon check out my app kept trying to get me to check out the vehicle again and when I call customer service the agent was incredibly rude. As well, the check out instructions told me to leave the keys in a U-Haul lock box at the main entrance, but there was no lock box. I wouldn't recommend doing self serve with U-Haul again as it was not an easy or seamless experience.

When I booked the Uhaul online, I ordered blanket/pads to protect my furniture during the move. Unfortunately when I went to pick up the truck at the location Uhaul specified, I was told that they do not provide blanket/pads for customers. As a result, many pieces of furniture ended up scratched, some quite badly. Uhaul, if you're going to offer moving blankets on your website, you should make damn sure every location carries them, otherwise what's the point.

Absolutely horrible experience. I am so annoyed I had to pay for the service. Cargo van booked for 9am, we did not get to drive it until 10.30am. Spent 55 minutes on the phone to 4 or 5 people for U-Haul. Worker at Golden Coins Dollar store was SO RUDE. He was rude to us when we asked him what we could do to access the truck. He should not be representing U Haul. The U Haul APP is a total nuisance aswell. All the notes will be on the account for this order and I will NEVER use U Haul again. The worst experience and I am horrified I had to pay for such terrible service. Never again.

Head office staff is swift and professional. I would give him 5 stars. However the staff at the location pick up took 30 min to register me and then asked to come early or else he'll charge me. I tried really hard to keep calm during those 30 min registeration when time is the essence.
