Booking a truck with uhaul is essentially a complete disaster. I'd like to preface with the fact that everyone I spoke with at uHaul were kind and courteous. All of them were just trying to help out when they realistically had no tools with which to help. The truck was also modern, clean and worked fine for the trip. But wow, does it set an new record low for my experience with a company. It has me absolutely dreading moving again and making me highly consider just selling everything I own and essentially wearing the clothes on my back since that would be easier. Let's breakdown how things failed each step of the way. I needed to move about 2 hours away from where I lived. Knowing that, I went online and reserved a truck a month in advance at a local convenience store. Everything went smoothly. At no point was I told that my truck wasn't reserved. I then about 2 days before get a text message saying my truck rental has been moved to a place where they can guarantee availability about 20 minutes away from where I live. Ok no big deal. But when I follow the link they provided me to review and accept the changes, I'm presented with two options. Keep everything exactly the same with the pickup location, or choose the further away option. Why would anyone choose the further away option and make moving more stressful? I kept things as they were. The next morning, I get another text message saying essentially the same thing. Except the truck is now about a 55 minute drive away. At this point, I don't trust what I'm being told as now the location has been moved to over 55 minutes from where I am. Again, this is all a day before moving. It's worth noting that when I decided to call uhaul l and am first sent to someone who can't help, but they transfer me to someone who can. I'm then told that the previous truck is no longer an option, and only this truck 55 minutes away is the closest option. I'm near the GTA area. I find this wild, so I ask why that is and am then told that uhaul has only so many one way trucks (ones that don't return to their original destination) and they actually don't have any in my area really ever. This just begs me to ask more questions. How was I able to reserve at a location a month ago knowing that this location doesn't get any one way trucks? Why was I given the 'option' to choose between two locations when realistically there was never a truck or going too be a truck at my selected location? Why is this all happening less than 48 hours before I moved? If I had adequate time, I could have booked with another more reliable company or sorted out another solution. I was given extra kms to drive the truck, but they didn't cover the full new distance back to my place, nor my time or the gas money. And since my distance to my new location was 2 hours, I spent basically double the amount of time travelling that day then I expected to. It's baffling how many points of failure there are here. It's beyond evident that uHaul has a logistical and distribution problem if there are no trucks. If you take anything from this review, I recommend having a back up plan or recommend highly that you consider booking with another company. Uhaul isn't worth the hassle or the unneeded stress.

when I arrived to pick up the truck, I had to wait 20 min to be served as this convenience store was about to store a rush of students from the nearby high school. There should have been 2 employees available. Ball Hitch was not provided by U-Haul for this small pick up truck even though I was told so by a Uhaul rep over the phone prior to pick up.a ball hitch would be included.

When reserving the truck on the uhaul website, it says 24hours and 48km included in the price. When picking up the truck, the personnel at the pick up location said we get 24hours and 30km included. I only used 42km but had to pay for the extra 12km used because of the location and the website stating different things. Please fix that for future customers.

I had to drive 40 minutes out of the way to pick up the truck and then when I arrived at 7 am for my mobile pick up was told that I had to wait until the store opened 90 minutes later. Made a very long day even longer. Terrible service.

There was a lot of garbage left from the previous renters in the cabin. The garbage included an open pop can with pop still in it, a Gatorade bottle mostly still full and many wrappers. We didn't expect the van to be completely clean, but it would not have taken long for this garbage to be cleaned out before we rented it.

I booked my reservation in May (for a June move). I didn't get what I booked and was only notified the day before my move that I wasn't getting what I booked. I will NEVER use Uhaul again!!!!

The u-haul website says that you can leave a cash deposit of $100 rather than needing the person who booked the truck with their credit card to be there. I booked it for my son who doesn't have a credit card but they made me come in anyway. It was inconvenient. What if I had been out of town or unreachable? He would have been out of luck to do his planned move.

The staff were excellent but the location was on a curve in the road & hard to find. Also, the UHAUL sign was too small - easy to overlook. Overall, my experience was excellent & I would recommend it to other but with very specific directions.

The vehicle was well maintained mechanically. Windshield wiper needed to be replaced and the interior of the cargo area was dirty and needed to be swept before putting in my cargo.

We had requested a fridge cart when we made our request online. When we went to go pick up the truck there was no fridge cart. We had to scramble to find a fridge cart to rent that cost is way more money then we would have liked.

Truck bed had motor oil in areas on the truck bed floor. Had to use blankets to coverup those areas so they wouldn't get on and stain our household items. Trucks head lights were VERY dim. Could hardly see in front of me. Otherwise the equipment and service was great.

Have all Vehicles filled with fuel before customers pick up the vehicle…when I picked up my vehicle it only had a quarter tank of fuel when I took it back it had half tank of fuel. I don't think it is fair that I have to pay for an extra quarter tank of fuel because I didn't know how much fuel it would take to do my route especially at the cost of fuel. Thanks

I reserved the truck to be picked up at 7am. I was there at 7am to do my monile pick up, and the site wouldn't let me do it. The location doesn't open until 8:00 am, (although on your website it says 8:30am). So, after discussing the matter with a customer service agent on the phone, it was determined that I needed to come back when the location was open, as they had not done what they needed for me to do a mobile pick up. The pick up location did not understand what a mobile pick up even was, and proceeded to try and instruct me that I wouldn't have been able to pick up the truck before his business opened. Because I was now an hour and a half late on my timings, all the people I had who were able to help me now had to go to work, and I was left to move an entire truck worth of stuff all by myself. This meant that the elevator I booked at the apartment where I was moving was taken, because my time slot had come and gone. The supervisor who was supposed to talk to me about this problem called while I had the truck, knowing that I was busy all day and most likely hoping to not actually talk with me. He confirmed that I will be receiving only a $50 credit for this rental. He did not leave a call back number where he could be reached for discussion, so clearly my business and satisfaction in this transaction means nothing to him. This entire situation is completely unacceptable to me, and I will be discussing this further with management at Uhaul, as I feel as though I have been wronged for far more damage than simply $50. I feel as though the supervisor who was supposed to handle this complaint has purposely dodged talking with me, and I will be pursuing further action on this and filing a complaint against not only that business, but the supervisor himself. Truck was a death trap. Tried to return it after driving a block and they had nothing else to give me. Engine rattled so bad I thought it was a diesel. Front brake rotors are warped and vibrate like hell when you brake. Power steering worked intermittently. Front end was a mile out of alignment and went through gas so quickly that I'm pretty sure it was leaking onto the ground.

I called U Haul back the next day after my rental to say that my return drive at night was horrible and VERY DANDEROUS due to the headlights being SO FAR OUT of AIM , I could barely see the road a lot of the time . I told this to the person at the store which it was returned to and I also checked with him the next day and was told it was headed to the shop. PS. I at one time worked with the DTO regarding vehicle certification and headlight aim is part of the checks. And as a result feel my rental should be compensated by 50% Note: at this point I have not contacted DTO or OPP to report this issue. The lock on the back of the truck was froze, the back door was tied shut with yellow plastic wrap wire. It took me 30 minutes to fix the problem myself even after I told the desk clerk.

My issue is with CORPORATE UHAUL thinking it is acceptable to make me drive 3 hours away from where I had booked the truck AND PAY FOR THE GAS, screwing up my moving schedule. UHAUL - NOT TO BE TRUSTED!

Next time make sure the equipment is in proper driving order, the U-haul brake is going, can hardly stop. The steering is very shaky. That's dangerous. Please make sure the equipment is checked and safe for driving before renting . Thanks
