The manager Victor berated my husband when he returned our equipment, more or less scolding him repeatedly for his experience of usâ€” were we perfect customers? No. But was returning the equipment late our fault? No. It was part of a very difficult series of events for us this week, and we made all necessary payments as we had toâ€” my husband did NOT need to be scolded by some angry man upon drop-off. Apparently Victor came out to the front desk when my husband was dropping off the equipment, and then raised his voice while explaining how angry and inconvenienced he was. Like I said, we returned the equipment late, but that is just a difficult part of the job that he hasâ€” not an excuse to yell at a stranger about your own hardships. He can charge us, and we paidâ€” he cannot also make us feel bad. In addition, he insisted on charging us for a dolly that we never received. They were out when we picked up, and we said that was fineâ€” and then at drop off he insisted it was part of the charge, after making multiple false claims about our payments. As a side note, this location is in a very bad area of town. We live locally (hense just renting a van) and this is a well-known very bad area. The streets on both sides of this building are filled with houseless encampments, and it's not a safe area to have to go to for regular business like this.Mitchell G.

Counter person went above and beyond to help us through the mistakes uhaul had created. And they were plentiful. This review asks about the location but not about uhaul itself. What a shame that the company doesn't want to hear that.BENNET P.
After using this business 4 times in the last year, I was shocked to have such a horrible last experience. The hours were listed as 9-5 at the rental location. We arrived a bit before 9 and waited 30 min. I was signed up for the 24/7 pick up and the key was not available. I called the 800 number and I was on hold for over 10 mins - once assisted by someone they were very nice and helpful. During this call the person arrived at the rental location and I got the vehicle. I was promised a $50 credit but that was not reflected on my final bill. The person at the location where I rented was not apologetic at all for their late arrival. I won't use this location again.Jody N.

I payed 30$ extra for a hand truck, furniture dolly, and half a dozen furniture pads and none of it was available when I picked up the truck. I tried calling U-Haul customer service about this and the first time I waited an hour, someone picked up (I could hear voices in the background) and they hung up before saying anything! I called again and waited, again, for an hour and no one picked up! I doubt I'll be refunded for the equipment I requested, in fact, I'm half expecting U-Haul to charge me for not returning the truck with the missing hand truck, furniture dolly, and furniture pads. My move was very unnecessarily stressful because of the incredible lack of customer service on U-Haul's behalf. Non-existent support and unfulfilled ordered items made for a terrible customer experience, I doubt I will ever use a U-Haul truck again.Kelly D.
It was like the truck was never even serviced between the last customer who rented the truck and our rental. To start, all 6 tires had to be replaced after we noticed 4 bad tires immediately after driving off the rental lot; two shredded tires (inside back tires) with one of them just hanging around the wheel rim loose, one tire that had no tread (outside back tire), another tire was about to shred as well (outside back tire)...this is after it was noticed inside back tires were wobbling while the truck was driving, by my friend driving behind us (who gave us the ride to pick up the truck) and also another random driver who stopped along side the truck to advise. The steering column was also off (truck drives straight while wheel tilted). There was old napkins from the previous renter left in the cab...this was a 26ft uhaul rented to drive 650 miles through the cascade mountains over 2 states from CA to WA. What a joke. Its like safety doesn't even matter to uhaul, or at least the "authorized dealers" collecting commission to rent trucks on behalf of uhaul; they got their money that is obviously what matters most. And shame on uhaul as they obviously dont do enough quality control over their authorized dealers since theyre easily getting away with this poor quality of rentals. Good thing we noticed the crap condition of the truck's tires; what an accident that would have been going that distance 650 miles through the cascades with 4-6 bad tires in a loaded 26ft truck...(the service repair man made the decision that all 6 actually needed replacing, not just 4) Customer service hold wait times were over 45min (not efficient in the time of an emergency), and meanwhile I had moving help rented/ paid for just sitting for 1hr of my paid rented time while we tried to get the truck situation sorted out, which involved driving the truck back to the rental place since their phone was off the hook busy and uhaul's wait times were excessive > 45min. Does uhaul refund you for the time it took me to correct their error, of course not. I can never recommend a company that does not place any regard to safety of the truck rented out...And we were sent to this location to pick up a truck because the location we reserved with for MONTHS in advance initially, accidentally rented out our reserved truck to someone else (as if moving isn't stressful enough, another example of how unreliable the authorized dealers are)... If you ask my advice to improve the experience for the next customer, get rid of the authorized dealers - I can never recommend uhaul as long as you use them. The only way this could happen is by not LOOKING (what a simple concept).JAMES C.

This is not your typical U-Haul office, but rather, a tire vendor who contracts with U-Haul. A bit rough on the edges, but friendly and very high quality customer service which trumps a pretty showroom any day of the week! Went off without a hitch, and no lines!PATRICE M.

My reservation was moved back twice, I get to clearlake ca where I had a 15' truck rented one way to wa state and NO TRUCK. 6 hours later the only thing offered was to drive another 3 hours to rent a 10' truck. Arrived at new location, rate was increased to 1200 from 800. FOR A SMALLER TRUCK THAT I HAD TO DRIVE 3 hours for. REPEATEDLY TOLD THATS THE BEST YOU CAN DO. Take the smaller truck for a higher price but lucky me you gave me 1 extra day and 300 miles. Then cue up the calls to turn the truck in a day early because no one had a copy of the extra day,except for the paperwork I kept. So to recap I paid you to change my move date twice, Then have to drive 150 miles in wrong direction to get a truck that is smaller then requested, paid the same price for smaller truck, then hassled that I am a day late when i am 2 DAYS early and 289 miles under the allotment. I was required to return the truck with 7/8 tank of gas that was given at initial rental. After driving 1000 miles I was charged for not having that exact amount. This was very upsetting considering that I did put extra gas in the tank prior to drop off but was shy approx 3 gallons and was charged almost 6 dollars per gallon. I feel like this was a scam that could have been avoided if I had a truck at initial rental with full tank of gas. Will most likely avoid your company due to this principal and feeling of being taken advanaged of for being 3 gallons shy of an initial 7/8 tank of gas.DERRICK P.

I wouldn't recommend renting a truck from you again, got the truck at 3/8 full tank. Used MAYBE a quarter tank. Put 40$ in and then you charged me anoth 66$ for gas to get it to full. Guess I didn't pay close enough attention but really? 14 gallons for 66$ = 4.71 a gallon. Wtf? Awesome. Thanks!David S.

Made an appointment for 1:00 o'clock, however the truck was not returned by the previous rental driver until 1:30. By the time the truck was prepared and paperwork complete I was not out of there until 1:45. Since I had helpers waiting at my house to help me load until 2:00 pm, by the time I returned they were no longer available. Therefore, a fifteen minute load required me alone loading the truck for over 1 hour. What was most disturbing is that the previous driver was not even apologetic about his tardiness. I can only conclude that there was no penalty imposed by Uhaul on this late renter which in effect led to a very dissatifed customer. Will definetly consider other companies before using UHaul again.WAYNE W.
