Arrived on time, but there were problems with the app that did not allow check-in. Was unable to connect with anyone local; 800 number was unable to assist. Ended up getting the truck, but almost an hour late. No call backs from local office at all (even next day). Truck was dirty and smelled of urine.

lee bCheck-in and pick up were smooth; however, we received two invoices for the same contract. One seems correct in that the mileage charge was 5 miles, the second, which we were actually charged for, billed us for 20 miles (this was NOT correct). We were overcharged at least $20 and would like a refund.

Nancy MJeez everything. What a mess. Reserved one truck and got saddled with a way longer larger one. Then had to go 40 miles further than what it was supposed to be because the place I rented it through didn't have it. Had to fill out the paperwork AGAIN added like 2 hours to our day. Then refused to have it returned to the place I rented it originally so had to drive it back the 40 miles. More time I didn't have. Horrible Horrible experience. Never Again!!!!!!

CRAIG GThis rental area is poorly lighted, making the pick-up procedures difficult (I arrived predawn and had to use my cell-phone flashlight to access the key drop). Taking photos to verify the van's condition was difficult given the lack of good lighting, and I had to retake several to successfully upload them. In addition, the van was parked in a way that made it difficult to remove several inches of snow from it in order to drive safely. The furniture pads I requested and that were on the original contract agreement were not in the van. Because the nearest other U-Haul locations are over an hour away roundtrip, I could not take the time to travel there and back to load the van, so I had to improvise with my own blankets and scrap cardboard. The back gate/door initially stuck open (electrical lock engager would not engage) necessitating a call to roadside assistance. Finally, the van was not equipped with snow tires, making the return trip quite hazardous. Neither had the windshield washer fluid reservoir been filled and I had to purchase fluid and fill the reservoir on the trip.
BRUCEDAVID RWhen i arrived to pick up a cargo van i rented at that location, almost an hour from where I wanted to rent a cargo van but was not available at the location in my town, the manager told me that that his location had no cargo van but I could have 10ft truck. I told him i could have rented a 10ft truck in Tupper Lake where I made my original reservation for the cargo van. I asked why nobody bothered to communicate with me and he said that it wasn’t his fault. Not helpful and I was not happy. I asked U-Haul chat if I could return the 10ft truck in Tupper Lake. Not only No, but i was threatened with being charged double the fee if i dare drop the truck in the “wrong location”. Terrible service!

DAVID VThe pick up instructions were not clear or the app was malfunctioning - not sure which, when I called the 518# I got a voicemail but called the 800-451-1577 and she was able to reset it for me so that I could start the "pick up truck" steps in the app. This delayed our start time and was a bit confusing and the only reason I didn't give a full 5 star for excellent.
Danielle BThe owner was very rude. When I arrived and parked then went to look for help. She drove up and started tell me I cannot park there and needed to move right away. no greeting or asking if I needed assistance. She finally said she would get an employee of hers to come help me and I had to wait for help with where they wanted the equipment returned and no one checked in the equipment. Was not able to enter the office during business hours.

John MThe engine blew on the 15' truck I rented. Fortunately I was on the way home so did not have to off-load and re-load. When I was eventually provided with a similar replacement truck (at the second U-Haul site I was driven to by the nice tow truck driver), this 15' truck was far superior even though it had almost as many miles. The first truck had an always-on "Check Engine" light; I was told it as a bad sensor and not a problem. The steering was very loose and brakes not tight. The driver's side mirror would swing around above 60 mph; I used packing tape to keep it in place until I got to a service station. I will never rent from the Lake Placid operator again.

The truck he rented to me was really clean mechanically sound and ran beautifully on my move to Florida. You will be doing yourself a favor renting from this location. Thanks Dave. DAVID BIt would be nice to have a person onsite to help with returning trailers and parking them in the location they want.
Douglas CTire on trailer was flat, had to delay start of moving to new location.
Mark AI was very upset because the day before I was picking up a 20 foot truck I was told that one wasn’t available. They only had a 15 foot truck. So we had to make 2 trips with it and it cost me more money because of the mileage. I’m very disappointed with U-Haul

ERNEST SThe van was absolutely useless. The tires were not safe or suitable for a snow area. I was not able to access the place my stuff is being stored. The driveway was plowed and sanded, but the tires were unable to drive up the slight incline. I even spun on flat parking lot because of a slight snow covering. Renters should be warned. It was a heavy cost to not be able to retrieve my possessions. No reflection on the local facility. U-Haul should be responsible for the vehicles they provide. Very disappointed
