I’ve rented uhauls before and the experience was great. At this particular location they only had one truck available, a 26 footer. Honestly, no biggie, we just didn’t fill the truck more than a quarter of the space given. The suspension on the truck was horrendous and the ball joints sounded like they could’ve given out at any moment (words from my mechanic friend that was helping with the move and driving with me). Then upon returning the truck I was charged basically double the amount originally rang up. Once I called U-Haul customer service the woman helping me said it was because I had the truck for two days AND they charged me for about 20 gallons of gas (which she estimated is about 200 miles of driving. I only had the uhaul for about 11 hours, only drove 120 miles, and I filled the tank with $35 of gas. I’ll admit I probably could’ve used to put more gas in the tank, but 20 gallons is an insane reach. They falsified the records to force me to pay more. I’m not sure how it directly benefits their business to double charge people, but I’m currently disputing it with U-Haul themselves and their customer service will get back to me sometime today or tomorrow to further help my situation. Again, I love U-Haul and their services, I just personally would never go back to this neighborhood dealer ever again. The people at the counter were extremely friendly though :)
