When I originally called the 1-800 number online to make a truck reservation I told the woman I spoke with that I needed to rent a 10ft truck that I could pick up in Auburn Ca and drive to Rohnert Park Ca on Sunday November 15th. I told the woman I was going to be emptying a storage unit in Auburn and was going to take it to Rohnert Park Ca. I had filled out the online application which was up on the screen of my computer while we were speaking and I assumed we were looking at the same thing. It required that I indicate where I would be dropping off the truck and I indicated Rohnert Park CA She said there was one available on Locksley Lane in Auburn. She wanted to know what time I needed it and I told her it would be picked up at 9:30 am. She did not at any time mention that I was reserving a round trip vehicle that must be returned to Auburn Ca, nor did she at any time verbally inform me at what time I was expected to return this vehicle. . There was never any verbal review of my reservation other than where I was picking the truck up and at what time. This person at no time, even gave me a time at which the truck had to be returned. Just prior to hanging up she did indicate she was texting me my contract. She at no time asked me to look at it and confirm it before hanging up. There was NEVER anything said about returning the truck to its original pick up site in Auburn. Because I had indicated on the application that I was going to return the truck to Rohnert Park Ca, and because I thought she & I were looking at the same thing (application online) and I did not think it unusual for her to not say anything about where it would be returned to. About 1/2 hour after making this reservation I realized I needed a larger truck. About 1hr after making this reservation I realized I would need a larger truck. I contacted Locksley Lane U-Haul and explained I would need a 15ft truck which they stated would be available. Not to worry. I as not asked whether or not I was aware that I would be renting a round trip vehicle. Only the pick up time was confirmed. I was quite shocked to hear from my brother Dan Hudson who picked up the vehicle at 9:30am as scheduled that he had been told I had to return it to Auburn Ca. “Oh no, that's not right.” I told him in front of others who had gathered to help me. It was not an imperative that I move these things on this particular day. Had I been aware that I was expected to return this vehicle to Auburn Ca I simply would have decided to do it on another day when I could have reserved a one way vehicle. I was unaware of whether or not Locksley Lane U-Haul Rental business had both one way rentals and round trip rentals available. I assumed they had both. I assumed she too knew that and was plugging me into the most appropriate vehicle for my needs. I do not have occasion to rent vehicles often and I would not have known unless told that I was picking up a round trip designated vehicle. I do not recall ever being asked about whether to not this rental was one way or round trip. I had no reason requiring me to do this move on the 15th of November and had I been aware I was expected to return this vehicle, as well as the cost....I certainly would not have agreed to renting a round trip truck. It would have been rearranged until I could have rented a vehicle that could have been driven to Rohnert Park where I live and dropped in the town where I live because it made logical sense, and because it is what I could afford to do. I am physically disabled. I am not able to make financial mistakes that cost me money unnecessarily. I request that this incident be respectfully reviewed and I be compensated for having to pay for the cost of gas and the mileage I was charged to drive this this vehicle from Rohnert Park Ca to Auburn Ca. The Uhaul truck reeked of freshly cut cannabis. It's made my belongings smell like weed very badly and completely stunk my neighborhood up when I was moving. When I called to complain, the propriety of the locksley lane uhaul basically told me to kick rocks and if I didn't like the smell, hose out the back compartment with a hose and pinesole or bring the truck back. That wasn't an option, I needed the truck that day to move and didn't have time to bring the truck back and find another option. His overall demeanor and unwillingness to try to help find a solution was very upsetting and I'm never using that uhaul provider again.

The service here was good the man was friendly and hooked up the trailer for us. I have no complaints regarding the pick up. However, I do have 2 complaints 1. there were many locations in this area (Auburn) that showed up on your website that were no longer in service or we couldn't find them. 2. I ordered online and they told me it was $69 however my bill came to $104 nothing was ever mentioned about the insurance, if that's what the 30$ charge was for. I'm not really sure. If it is I have my own insurance that covers trailers I would not have purchased insurance.

The gentleman in the store/shop was not organized and was not taking into account any PPE mandates provided by the state of California during the COVID 19 crisis. I left there feeling angry and confused. The equipment was fine but the service and rental process overall was rough. I also am not sure how I went over budget on fuel. The shop owner had a different quote for me on total miles of my move. I checked the mileage before I left the rental location and again when I returned. He said I went 10 miles further than I calculated. I might have to file a formal complaint for his lack of regard for safety being mandated by the state in not wearing a mask or requiring others to wear a mask and in his overcharging me.
