This was the absolutely worst U-Haul experience I have ever had. You would be well served to pull Mc Clendon’s of Kent, WA ability to rent U-Haul’s. They absolutely do not care about the customer experience. Please call me for questions - 206-852-6022

I had an excellent experience renting my U-haul at Kent east hill Mclendon's Hardware. I did not get the name of the female cashier's name that rents out the u-hauls vehicles their M-F. She did an excellent job helping me through all the paperwork and phone procedures to rent the vehicle. And also, when returning the vehicle, it was quick and easy with the help of Mclendon's worker Joey.

The people answering the phone shouldn't insist that I "be nice to her" in order for her to do the right thing. I am not a child, I had every right to be upset, and I don't appreciate being spoken to like Im 12. She can keep her sarcasm to herself, and not overcharge people, and not make people jump through hoops. I'll likely never rent another UHaul, 75 bucks for 20 miles and 24 hours in town is absurd, and I'll never go to McClendon's for anything ever again.

Clean and well maintained are two different questions. The vehicle was clean. I have concerns about mechanical maintenance. It sounded like it needed a valve job. Before I turned it in the oil light flashed on.

The U-haul counter was closed. No instruction labeled anywhere on how to drop off key thankfully the McClendon staff knew what to do.

It is great that our local hardware store has Uhaul now, but staffing and service attention to rental trucks needs to improve. There were long waits to pick up and return, overwhelmed staff who seemed to care some but not be empowered to help or improve things. The first truck was very dirty, with chunks of cement and dust and tile pieces. I had to clean it before I could use it for my stuff, then again to include the ramp. I hope it wasn't asbestos. 2nd van had a broken driver's side door lock, I had to go back in and ask because I couldn't get in and was told to just unlock on the other side. This is not acceptable really and was a bother. When I went to load the van I found the side cargo door also broken, only one side opened making it difficult to load the front and use the van for its purpose. I don't think the van should have gone out like this. Then when I went online then called to extend the van before due the next morning I was informed it had been reserved, so I reserved a different truck and raced to return the van. When I got there staff said the van was free to extend my rental. This cost me time, gas, and 10 miles at the mileage rate. And stress. The last truck had TPMS warning message glowing, I worried about the tires and was never able to see the mileage because of the warning message. When I returned the last truck yesterday a nice couple starting on a big move were faced with an unacceptably dirty truck at pickup. I guess you could have certain vehicle for messy contractors only, better to staff up for trucks to be checked, vacuumed out as needed, and serviced. And/or to communicate with customers about issues. People rent Uhauls when they are busy and trying to get something done, that's the nature of the business. Let me be clear I am not criticizing the McLendon staff they were all nice just obviously not enough time to manage the rentals effectively.

(1) The fuel gauge needle was a bit off the reported level. I filled up to the level. (2) Just a few small debris on the cargo floor of van. I swept up these debris. Otherwise, the van was clean. I'll rent again, Thanks.

There was not a good way to show the preexisting dent in pictures. After hours instructions and logging in with the app was a bit intimidating, i am glad there was a sign by the keybox saying to use the app, but I dont have or want an app. i logged into the website and it told me to just park legally, and put key in box, so that is what I did.

I drove 24 miles, I added five gallons of gas and was charged for four more for a total of nine gallons. That is a mileage rating of less than three miles/gallon.

Truck was dirty inside and had cigarette butts in the drink holder. I cleaned it up so I wouldn’t get charged for it.

1st CS Rep was very rude, even to the customers walking into the door. Made me want to throw up just looking at her. She would not even help look up the price that Express Storage Auburn said it would be. Will never use McLendon Hardware Kent Uhaul again. 2nd CS Rep was very helpful Still will never use them just because of the 1st Rep

I have a staging business and have been a regular UHaul customer for 25 years. I have rented hundreds of times from many locations. I have NEVER been treated so rudely than by the both the manager and staff at this location. Go anywhere but here. This is a part of McClendon’s and not a UHaul managed shop. Through a comedy of errors, I was 30 minutes past my return time and got a phone call from a very rude person telling me I was RED FLAGGED, THAT I HAD CAUSED SEVERAL CUSTOMERS TO MISS THEIR RESERVATIONS AND THEY WOULD BE REPORTING THE TRUCK AS STOLEN. Verbatim. If you subtract the time I spent trying to get the ignition to unfreeze, it might be that I was actually early! The whole experience was lousy but this was just unreal. When I first rented the truck, I kindly let them know that the truck next to mine had its windows down and it was raining and the sourpuss from the later phone call, just glared at me and walked away and I said, you’re welcome to her turned back! I could go on and on. Until today, I have always liked UHaul and while I have had a few indifferent experiences, most of the people are just great especially at the UHaul branch locations where I have always received basic human respect.

I didn't have an issue. I did have to wait, due to the cistomer in front of me tryi g to pick up hos rental, the price he was quoted, was different than when he arrived at the store. And everytime, the woman tried to check him out the computer system kept chamging the price and adding almost $60! She called the 1st time, looked like it fixed the problem. It didn't. She called a second time and was put on hold for about 15, 20 min. I was kinda on a time factor as to when i needed to be somewhere to pick up a chouch i had bought from someone off of Facebook Marketplace. But, since it was a computer error, i couldn't get mad at the woman working or the dude trying to pick up his rental. I felt bad for both of them. So, in a situation like that, it woulda been nice, if there was a second pick up/return counter for uhaul at the location. Bu,t understand since it's not a full on uhaul business, why there isn't a second counter.

The truck was dirty and not in great repair. I think there might be something wrong with the door seal on the drivers side because the wind was quite loud. The people were pleasant and the reservation process was easy. The parking was a bit close and I can see novice drivers having issues backing in without hitting anything.

It would be nice if the cargo van had hand grips at the back doors and the side door. It would make it easier for short people like me to get in and out. I know that is a make and style issue but ot would be nice.

When I first got the trunk the gas was only filled up to 1/4 of a tank so I refilled it up to 1/3 of a tank when I returned it and I got charged $35 for gas which is ridiculous. Overall my experience was super stressful when it was supposed to be easy and smooth. Lastly, when I handed them the keys to the U-Haul I was told I will be receiving a confirmation email within an hour. And after 3 hours passed I still did not get anything and I had to call them and let them know. Which lead me to find out they misplaced the key and had to find where it was. I shouldn’t have needed to call them regarding this when it was handed directly to an employee.
