truck had mechanical issues
Beth FThe app to pick up the truck was extremely difficult to use and it took more than 30 mins to get to the keys and check the vehicle out. The last step was to check the license plate of the truck. No instructions about gas. We were late for the movers who were great and arrived on time. It was an incredibly stressful experience and then when we got the final bill, we were charged for gas and a service fee totaling $57.00 on top of the 39.24 mileage fee (which was expected). The 29.95 rental for a few hours came to a total of $155.70 for 5 hours rental traveling only 36 miles. We have rented a lot of moving trucks recently and this app check out experience was awful. Could not get anyone to respond to the app's chat help and took more than 15 mins. of holding to get a live person to help. This person was very impatient. Checking out this truck was a nightmare and I will never use Uhaul again. I did try to preview how the app works but it will not let you start the process until you are at the location. Very bad experience.

RICARDO MGet real people at location. Even the people that run the storage unit complain that they always have to help with rental problems since the autonomous system has been put in. It took me over a hour to pick vehicle up because kiosk not working correctly and when did had to talk to a person anyway and they had no clue where keys were. Was told key in box 3. No boxes outside this location except key drop off. Once storage unit attendant got back from other site. He said the keys are lick in back of truck. Just got receipt and has $202 charge for wrong drop off. Picked up and dropped off at same place? Never did get app to work for check out or check in. I am very computer literate so it wasn't that I couldn't figure it out. It didn't work froze up or would give an error code for not being able to download site. Will never rent from uhaul again with this autonomous systems. It might save money but your reputation is going to suffer with all the complaints.
Scott WYou can’t. Melissa at the Castle Hayne store was perfect. She has to be one of the nicest, kindest, most helpful, and most diligent people I’ve ever met. She is beyond excellent as a representative for U-Haul. Someone needs to take note of that besides me. Better keep her. Not many around like her.

Todd JExcellent Customer Service! Fast, friendly and thoroughly professional staff, and clean, fully functional equipment. Staff provided prompt assistance checking out, hooking up and verifying the mechanical and electrical connections prior to me leaving the premises. Similarly, upon return of the equipment, the staff came immediately to assist in unhooking the trailer and completing the return transaction. Overall, an extremely enjoyable experience!
