The vehicle had a strong smell of marijuana and the battery seemed to be almost dead causing the truck to almost not start twice. The self checkout and in process is honestly very time consuming and frustrating. I wasn’t able to add notes about vehicle condition on return because of an app error that simply implied I had used non English characters. Of the U-Haul trucks and trailers I have rented this was the most negative. Location is good for me but again, the self checkout process in general is a huge stress/negative experience. I much preferred when the storage places locally had actual staff. In and out easily and efficiently.

This is going to be a long summary of the last two weeks that I dealt with U-Haul The first reservation that I made was for the weekend before Labor Day upon arrival to the U-Haul location, I was greeted by nobody because there was nobody at that location for the day a little kiosk lit up when I got there, and he realized very quickly that I was not gonna be able to take a vehicle at that time due to the fact that somebody had to hook the vehicle to the trailer for me to be able to take it! The kiosk person did reach out to another location to send somebody to the location I was at at! The only problem was the closest person was about 45 minutes away. I was told 15 minutes, but that was not the case. By the time he arrived the person I was supposed to meet to grab the motorcycle I have purchased was not able to be home. She was kind of upset, but understanding due to the fact that it was out of my control. Then comes Labor Day weekend and I will say I was a half hour late to the appointment, but I did call the location and let them know. He said that’s absolutely fine. Ask me for my estimated ETA. I let him know that I’ll be there at 12 o’clock instead of 1130 when I arrived that gentleman that I spoke with was at lunch and did not show up there until about 15 minutes after I did. That was fine no big deal. The issue came when they went to charge me for the U-Haul he told me my card was declined twice so I gave him another credit card number that I had on me which he ran but then when I checked my account my account I’ve been charged three times for that U-Haul trailer, also the gentleman I was working with at that location had only been employed with you for about four months as he let me know, and he explained that the training that he has gotten has not been very good and he is not very happy with how things are ran with your company! I thought this was very unprofessional, but given the situation, I was looking past it and just wanted my 10ft truck and 5x9 motorcycle trailer! The next issue began as he went to get my vehicle and pulled up the trailer at that location had been damaged, but not reported even though I’m sure you guys are checking them in so I’m not sure how that happened but the hitch that goes over the ball was bent and did not allow the screw to screw in and lock, so I was not able to take the trailer at that time which then I had to do another transaction to refund the trailer to me from that location rebuild me for another $166 dollars This is where it gets good I get into the truck which is this is documented by your U-Haul employee and me. The service engine soon light was on the maintenance light was on oil pressure was low and miles till needed. Changed was at 0%. I immediately put the truck in park walked back into U-Haul. Let the employee know he came out, looked at it took a picture of the dash and said I don’t have time to deal with it, but you can call roadside if it breaks down and told me to proceed on. The U-Haul place that had the bike trailer that I needed was 45 minutes in the wrong direction and when I arrive there they had the trailer nothing was wrong with that. I did tell them about the U-Haul problems I was having and he said there was nothing you could do about it given the fact it was from a different location. I then called your customer. Service line explained the situation of the truck current status. They asked me to have roadside assist me giving me a phone number to call but I was driving on the highway so I was unable to write it down and I was never able to remember what that number was but the truck was running fine at that time so I just kept rolling. Then, when I was about 4 miles from home, the truck was overheating. The engine light was blinking and other things on the little digital screen on the dashboard below thermometer was saying all kinds of maintenance things needed to be done and a service vehicle soon. When I got off the highway, the truck seemed to be having issues just stay running, not allowing me to fully stop the truck because if I let off the accelerator to hit the brakes, the vehicle would almost stall out and then called customer service again. They connect me directly to roadside. I will say your roadside assistance group is very good. They kept me up-to-date with every step of their process even when they had to leave the trailer in my driveway. They were back within 15 minutes to pick it up and take it to your service center. They were awesome. I completely respect what they do and I would definitely recommend that part of U-Haul to anybody, but hopefully you don’t have this happen all the time. That being said, I would just like a phone call from somebody in upper management and at least an apology or maybe a gift card for the inconvenience that I was caused the motorcycle that I picked up there’s only 26 ever made in the United States. It’s a very rare expensive motorcycle And if I would’ve had to drop the trailer, I would of very unhappy to have to leave that on the side of the road, I actually wouldn’t have! I probably would push it home at that point because I was so frustrated with how I was treated by your U-Haul employees.

I was charged a very high amount to rent this truck. I asked for a dolly and equipment to go around my TV and it was not in the truck then it tried to charge me more money after I paid for the deposit. I was not happy with the process and how I was charged for something I was not able to use.

There is no person working there. The virtual assistants (and I needed 3 before they could help me) told me their system was down and they could not help me. Their suggestion was that I come back another day! WHAT??? It was moving day. I had a team of movers meeting me in less than an hour... had 6 employees on-site to handle the organization ... If there had been an employee there... they could have handled it with paper and given me the key. As it was the key is in a box and the virtual assistant doesn't have the code till they process everything. Luckily ... I kept coming back ... checking online... finally the uhaul system came up and I was able to get the truck! Absolutely terrible approach - Don't Frustrate your customers!

I only put No under equipment in an effort to get your attention. The engine is making constant sounds when driving. It reminds me of a motor that's low on transmission fluid. The sound adjusts with the RPM's and never goes away. Something you may want to check before it becomes more serious.

Ensure the previous person cleans the cab and ensures the windows are rolled up. I have rented 3 or 4 trucks from you guys and this by far was the worst experience the team at location was great but that truck needs to be retired. Your brand is on that and your brand looks rusted torn dented bumper exhaust not bolted on. Sorry for the rant I’m still a loyal customer to U-Haul but that truck ruined my entire experience.

It is very hard to get the keys out of the lockbox. The locks are rusted & noone is there to help you. We almost didn't get the keys out, we were there for 15 minutes trying until it finally opened. I requested to pick up my truck from a different location where I knew there would be an attendant & UHaul switched it on me. I wasn't happy. I don't think it's fair that it cut into my rental time just because I couldn't get my keys & they decided to switch my pickup location.

Check each vehicle when it's returned. This vehicle was absolutely in bad shape and charging $5/gal for gasoline is not user friendly. Driver's side window handle was broken; driver's side sun visor was broken; tailgate lock handle was rusted severely; and over-charging mileage is not very acceptable. Ed Grimes

That didn’t advise me on the insurance plan that covers you when you get your U-Haul stuck, and the truck steering wheel is out of alignment, and the passenger door pocket had old nasty French fries from a previous customer other than that it was ok

You can only get this UHaul thru online pickup. This is my second time using this modern way. What a nightmare. Pictures and agreements do not submit. I haul makes you take their insurance. $30.00 a day......

Severely disappointed. The Virtual Manager concept, though I understand, is a big fail. When I had trouble with the lock to get the keys, instead of a real manager coming out and helping with the rusty lock, the virtual manager started drawing pictures of how I was supposed to do it. He's sitting in air conditioning while I'm out in the hot Florida sun fiddling with HIS rusty lock. The cargo area of the truck was dirty, and was not swept out... I had to do it myself. And upon return, I had to take pictures all the way around, and I'm paying YOU???!?!?? For what? It will be a long time, if ever, that I put myself through all of that and still have to pay U-Haul....I may never rent from U again.

Scheduled a pick up for 7am a week prior. Hired movers to come at 8am. The day before, I get a text message saying I can not pick up the truck til 9:00am. Our closing for our house was at 9:00am so could t get the truck until 10:30! The movers were unavailable for that time so I had to hire other movers and had to pay $125 more! Then when we went to return the truck, it was same night and dark, was in the parking lot for over 40 minutes because the app was not working!! Wasted a lot of time and money. Also told us we had to fill the truck up with gas all the way when we were done and it wasn’t completely full when we picked it up. We were told they’d charge us more if it wasn’t full. I would like to be compensated or a refund. The day turned into an all day move because of this.

I booked my pick up at this location so that I would be able to have a human assist me in the process. It stated that there would be someone there to assist me but it was just a virtual assistant. I also believe I was still charged for equipment I ended up not renting such as a dolly and furniture pads.

The self service desk would have been great to have a live person to check you in as opposed to a person in an office somewhere translated onto a screen. It was very hard to check in for the UHaul and it took almost 30 minutes to figure the process out without live help. We did not get out furniture pads either. Apparently, you guys were out of them but the app did not show that. Overall, it was very non-user friendly to use the app and would have preferred a live check-in process.

The technology and virtual staff is horribly cryptic and frustrating. Prepare to enter your credit card information and drivers license photos 6 times at least. Also the check in will take you close to an hour if you can even figure it out with the virtual dummies

When Interurned the vehicle, Inwas told that Inhad ton heck the vehicle in by taking pictures, etc. or pay a $20 fee to have you all check it in. That was not explained to me when I checked in. I don’t think you should put that charge on the customer. Especially when you have not discussed that previously.

The rental location was convenient. However, the changes made in order to complete the rental was unexpected. I have rented u-haul many times before and this time 90% of the job was done by myself. Specially dropping off the truck. First, I was assisted by a virtual assistant. Not a huge deal than a person you talk to at front desk but the dolly I rented I had to grabbed and brought to the vehicle myself. At dropping off, I had to do all myself. Returning through the application, taking all kind of pictures of the vehicle, the fuel level, the odometer, and all around the truck. In other words, at these location you have to do most of the job but you still get charged the same as if you got assistance by staff. I thought they should not charge the same if they want you to do their job. Hopefully this is not the case at all u-haul rental locations.

I had no idea there wouldn't be a person in-store to speak with. It was by video. While the reps were very nice, the whole check-in process was confusing. I made my reservation online, but when I arrived at the location, it was difficult for the rep to find it. Once he got my reservation, they did not have the dolley or blankets I requested in my online order. The truck I rented was clean and got the job done. I will say the check-out was much easier than the check-in.

App/online checkout did not work and required me to call which took about 30 minutes or more. Guess there was server issues which i understand occur. But there was no one actually PHYSICALLY at the location. Which ended up being a huge problem in my case... I dont recommend any location with nothing but virtual people who can't help with anything when actual issues arise.

The app is shit and wouldn't work when I tried returning the 10' truck I rented which resulted in me being charged an extra $120 after already being charged $150. Ended up paying a total around $270 so yeah not too happy with your services. Have a nice day.

No one works there-- thankfully there is a guy at Midgard Storage that can help you. Your keys to the vehicle are in a lockbox-- that is rusty. I had a hard time getting it opened-- and panicked because it took forever and no one was around. I understand Uhaul wants to cut back on costs. But cutting on people is awful. Hire people, they make a difference. The vehicle was dirty when I opened it-- old and grimy. I was scared to touch the steering wheel. Overall very disappointing.

1) make sure the vehicle has fuel!, this vehicle's dash lights lit up before reaching the Lakewood ranch drive needing fuel 2) make sure tires are balanced , @ 70mph the front end was bouncing all over the road 3) make sure customer picks up vehicle where rented from (last 3 rentals have been moved to other pickup places causing issues)

Good morning. The process of getting the keys was long and confusing. The miles that actually the truck showed were different from the miles indicated at the check in. So, it is not clear why there are two different charges. I want to request the invoice with all details for the service. Thank you and have a nice day
