When I arrived at this location, the unit provided was not in operational order. The location staff attempted to troubleshoot best they could but it was clear the equipment was the issue. The location called around for another unit nearby and one could not be located. By good grace, another unit of the same size came in while I was on site. This unit was dirty and unmaintained, but at least the lights were functional which they were not on the other. I was recontracted into this unit. I was billed $81.97 for the total use of the unit, but the location also billed me $21.20 for services that were neither contracted nor part of my rental, which I had to dispute with my bank due to no returned call. Uhaul offered a $50 credit if the timely pickup was not able to be completed at the reservation time, which it was not and which was subsequently not offered. The location is friendly enough but Uhaul poorly supports their operations.

I recently rental a truck and two dollies at this location. Upon return, I was mistakenly charged for a third dolly that I did not have or use. I brought this to their attention and we reviewed the contract over again. We agreed that I was indeed overcharged for the third dolly, would be refunded the amount and receive an updated receipt reflecting this change. However, I never received the receipt for the refund, so I don't think they processed it. I am upset that they seemed to try to make it right, but was lied to instead. Make sure you comb through the contract upon return before it is processed. Lesson learned.

There is a UHaul rental agency that is closer to my house (meaning lower per-mile cost) but I will only go to Paco's Paints & Two Helpers because they are so professional and reliable. Have rented from them multiple times and never had a bad experience. My biggest complaint is that I don't care for the air fresheners they use in their trucks LOL.

It wasn't explained to us to go online for returning afterhour instructions. So I was charged $85 on my card instead of $65. He was very misleading in his instructions and I don't appreciate it. Then he made up excuses as to why I was overcharged. Never again.

The only issue I had wasn't with the location, but with the website. I made the reservation a day early, and I was told I could have the truck from 8 am - 4 pm. The website confirmed this, but then later said I couldn't pick up the truck until 8:30.

The Uhaul 24/7 app has also caused me an enormous amount of trouble and will now also cost me extra money. I will never use it again. We arrived at the Pacos Paint location and completed 90% of the truck return in the Uhaul 24/7 app. After successfully photographing the truck cab and inside the back of the truck to show they were clean, we went to the next screen in the app, where there were directions on how to lock the truck and presumably what to do with the key. However, before I had a chance to read more than 'lock the truck' (didn't even have enough time to read that thoroughly enough that I can be sure what it said), a window popped up asking if I'd like to review the app, and blocking my ability to see the key return directions. I selected 'maybe later,' assuming that would make the window go away, but it navigated me back to the app's home screen, and I had no way to get back to the directions because presumably that meant the return was completed. I had no idea what to do with the key- it was 10pm and dark in the parking lot, and no key return box was visible. I was afraid to leave the truck unlocked, not wanting it to be stolen, and as I had to go out of state first thing the next morning, I knew I wouldn't be able to come back and drop off the key. As there was no key return visible, and with no idea what else to do, I assumed that the correct action must be to lock the key in the truck, as I have been directed to do previously with a uhaul rental, and that the rental office must have another copy of it, or a skeleton key or somesuch. The next morning, an employee of the Pacos Paint location called me and immediately began berating me for locking the key in the truck. I apologized immediately, realizing that I had obviously made a mistake and feeling pretty awful about it, but he continued to yell at and berate me. The only solution, he said, was for me to pay for the truck to be unlocked. At first he mentioned that there was a fee for this, which made sense to me, and so I asked how much it would be, and he said that he wouldn't know until the locksmith arrived and he would have to send me the bill for it. This seemed strange to me because I would assume Uhaul has a fee in place for that sort of thing so that customers aren't charged varying rates for this mistake. At the end of the call, after I agreed to this for lack of another option and he yelled at me some more, he hung up on me. I attempted to call AAA to see if they could unlock it, but after being told that they don't open Uhauls, I called back to say that he would have to bill me for the locksmith, and he hung up on me again. In all, this was an unpleasant experience that was made exponentially worse by that Uhaul representative the next morning. I will never be using this Uhaul 24/7 service again, which is a shame because I'm going to need to rent a truck in the next couple of months, and it is theoretically a convenient concept. Never again.
