They told me one price and when I returned it it was 4 times as much 19.95 a day and the first 150 klm free and 30 cents a klm after that was a total lie

While the location and owners/staff have always been wonderful over the years, I did have an incident that I believe wasn't treated with the seriousness it should have been. On Thursday, September 10th, 2026, while I was driving a truck and 5x9 utility trailer to the address where the unit was to be used, the trailer came loose, roughly five kilometres from the U-Haul location, although still attached by the chains. I thought initially that someone had rammed me from behind but when I checked my rear view mirror I could see that the trailer was swinging wildly to and fro behind me and although there was little traffic it was giving me a wide berth. I looked for an area where the two lane highway had wide shoulders and I could safely pull over so that I wouldn't obstruct traffic. I got out to see what had happened and noticed the tongue was dragging on the ground. I thought the trailer hitch itself had broken but a good samaritan from Domino's Pizza stopped in very short order to see if he could render assistance. He told me he had a lot of experience with trailers and towing and quickly saw that the hitch itself was turned around and was caught up in the chains. He pushed the trailer back a bit which loosened the chains and allowed him to turn the hitch around so that he could insert it into the receiver. It was at this point that we looked at each other and both of us saw the problem - there was no draw bolt. We speculated that the cotter pin had malfunctioned somehow which allowed the hitch to back out of the receiver because there was no other way for me to get that far had there been no draw bolt at all. He continued on to his work and I called your roadside assistance people. After forty minutes I received a text telling me that help would arrive in 120 minutes. To me, that was unacceptable. Just then another truck pulled up behind me and it turned out to be a friend who had been passing by in the other direction and figured out pretty quickly that it was me so turned around to help. He told me his brother only lived a few blocks away and would probably had a spare draw bolt and set off to get it. He came back about fifteen minutes later and I was able to get back on the road again. I called your roadside assistance to cancel my call and headed to my intended address. I called the dealer the next morning and they were kind enough to deliver a draw bolt so that I could return the borrowed one. When I went to see the dealer a day after the truck and trailer had been returned they didn't seem to want to discuss it any further which I found disappointing. I wasn't pointing any fingers or attaching blame to anyone nor was I asking for compensation but I did want them to recognize the potential liability that could have arisen had there been traffic either beside me or directly behind me when the trailer came loose. Some kind of acknowledgement for what could have happened would have been nice and that wasn't there. This is a dealer that has gone above and beyond for me in the past and I will continue to patronize that location but I believe that the circumstances I found myself in on that day was given short shrift.

Overfilled with a full tank instead of half as required because the truck only shows half a tank when the key is on. Spent almost $80 more to fill it and received no support from the location. Also, the app requires you to press back to actually upload the photos.

Kill/trap the bees in the garbage can by the entrance to the parking lot. All it takes is ONE bee sting for an allergic, at-risk customer to be seriously harmed or killed due to anaphylactic shock.

Firstly my reservation got relocated 25 kms in the opposite direction I needed to go adding an hour on to my trip. Secondly the U-Haul location smelled of cat urine with multiple cats crawling all over the from desk. I had to take a decongestant after leaving as I couldn’t breathe due to a mild asthma attack. Otherwise, I got my trailer and it functioned as required in spite of the several dents on it.

This is not the location where i made my reservation. I was sent 40 km in the wrong direction to pick up second piece of equipment and they didnt have my complete or nor did they have boxes to buy or straps to buy for toy hauler. The building smelled of cat urine and cats were climbing all over counter

Had a really great experience with my recent U-Haul trailer rental. Leslie made everything super easy from start to finish. The whole process was quick, smooth, and hassle-free — getting in and out was a breeze! Leslie was friendly, helpful, and made sure everything was taken care of without any unnecessary delays. It’s always nice when a rental experience is this simple and stress-free. I’d definitely rent from U-Haul again, and I really appreciate Leslie for making the whole experience so easy!

The right tire on the trailer did not look good. Caused a lot of bouncing of trailer. The Peterborough store took it out of service. Until a new tire can be installed. Overall a great experience

Great customer service. I was a little confused whether I had to use the barcode to check-in my vehicle. There was another couple returning their truck and they too were confused. So I would explain that part to customers, I didn't bother doing the barcoad thing because I was just going to call in the morning to advice that my truck was returned. Overall, a seamless easy experience.

Nice people, but this rental ultimately cost us more than double what it should have. There should be equal responsibility on all parties to ensure that a customer's needs are being met, and that they rent and know to conduct themselves accordingly. The representatives were kind and understanding of our mistakes, but offered very little to offset the additional and unnecessary expense - which was disappointing.

The U-Haul did have a lot of sand or maybe sawdust in the back before I started using it. I did however forget to take pictures so just my word. I swept it all out before returning it but just a heads up that it got missed or left.
