Location was closed upon arrival. A sign was left to call a different number. Fortunately, we had the ability to pick up the equipment with online access.

I moved out in October and kept getting a bill until January. The office was very difficult to contact. I left messages with no return calls. I was not pleased with the person running the facility.
Michelle O | Overall ExperienceNo customer service. The uhaul sight asked if we wanted to do in person or 24/7 pickup. We chose in person, it showed this location to be open and have staff for our pickup time, but we got there and no one was in the office. We couldn't do online checkin at that point. Wasted over 30 minutes trying to get the uhaul.
Dale SWhen I reserved the truck I requested in person pick-up. No one was there and I called the number on the building. An answering machine message told me my call would be returned shortly. I left 3 messages and did not hear back in 20 minutes. I contacted the U-Haul business on Kasold Street for assistance.,They were able to look up my reservation and told me I would have to use self check-in at the Wakarusa location., I worked through the process and when I finally got the keys they would not unlock the assigned truck and the license plate would not verify. I called the Kasold location and Chris told me the truck I was assigned was the other truck on the lot and the keys had been mixed up. Chris then came to the Wakarusa location to be sure I got the correct truck/keys. I had rented an appliance Dolly and there was not one in the truck. I had to drive to the Kasold location to get an appliance dolly. I would like to commend Chris from the Wakarusa location for the excellent customer service he provided.,

John B | Overall ExperienceThe man who we interacted with (Pete N) was not ready for pick up at the pickup time of 10:00am. We had to call coorporate U-Haul. He then came out 17min after open time. He was incredibly rude telling my mother and I that he "wished he wouldn't have come in to work today" when we were nothing but polite. When we booked the Uhaul at a different location we were told a military discount would be honored. Pete then made a big deal of mocking it. Afer about 30 minutes of extremely rude, disrespectful, and unhelpful interaction we finished the paperwork. He handed us keys and didn't even tell us which uhaul we were supposed to pick up on the lot. We were given no instructions and no help. If I was moving from Lawrence again and assigned this pick up location I would cancel and find another service because of how poor this interaction was.

CARL HWe were suppose to pick it up at 10:00. At 10:10 we called, no answer a vehicle pulled up I asked if she was there to pick up a truck . She said no this is where her dad lives. She had called him. It was another 16 min. before he opened his door. I gave Pete my summary of my order. Pick up at 10:00 on Friday Aug. 2 and Drop of destination was on Aug 4 at 10:00 in Manhattan, KS At NO time did Pete say that from Lawrence to Manhattan was a 1 day service. That would have been the professional thing to do. I noticed on the receipt that it said the drop off was Junction City KS. I questioned Pete on this and repeated that our drop off was supposed to be Manhattan, KS. Pete said Oh just ignore that and drop off in Manhattan.

Martin SI stored my office files at Parkway from August 2019 to May 2024. The storage rate was modest, the facility well maintained and the staff attentive and helpful. Couldn't have been better!
Bob C | Overall ExperienceDefinitely my worst experience with U-Haul by far. I ordered my truck for topeka ks like a month in advance for in store pickup at the SW Topeka Blvd because their staff is great. Like a week before I pick up the truck I get offered to drive a trailer to a different location for you guy since it was on the way. I declined because the routes and location was different from the way I was taking and wasn’t offering enough compensation for my trouble. A day before my pick up I was told my location for pick up was changed to Lawrence now. So now I had to find a ride to take me 45 minutes away just to pick up my truck. I get to the location in Lawrence and the door was locked I knocked and even called a few times trying to see if someone was inside to help me with my pick up still no answer. I finally get hold of some U-Haul support representative and she tells me to hang on while she try to get ahold of someone to help and no answer for her either. Eventually she tells me to try and download the app and see if I can do it that way. After another 30 minutes of waiting I was finally able to download it and try it that way. As I finally received the code for the lock box a guy come out from the office and ask if i needed help. He helps me with the code and I receive my keys to the truck. My truck was parked sandwiches between to other trucks and I had to wait for him to get the keys and move the other trucks just so I could get mine. I finally get my truck and there was no dollies in the truck or available in store. As I leave and get back on the highway Topeka I noticed the truck’s engine light was on and it said check the fuel cap. I get back to Topeka loaded the truck and check the cap and it was on pretty good ready for me to leave the next morning. In the morning I check the truck and the light was still on so I proceeded to check all the fluids before get on the highway. I noticed the oil dip stick was a little low on oil. I proceeded to the gas to get fuel and as I was fueling up I heard something pour on the ground. It was gas leak from the truck. I just made sure I stop every couple hours to make sure the gas was holding up and it was ok just don’t fuel it up all the way. About halfway through the trip it started to rain so I turned on the wiper and noticed they was no good. The wipers were just smearing the windows barely wiping the water away. But I finally made it safely to my destination after a long drive. Definitely my worst experience ever with U-Haul.
Daquante AThere was no one at this location during business hours. Their was no communication regard how to get the keys. I had to call customer service. Customer service try to direct me to the u-haul app. Which I did not have nor could I downloaded it. I then had to work my way through the call center until I was finally able to get help. This took 45 mins on a cold and windy day. The truck was not clean and the mileage was reported incorrectly.
ALYN TNo signage indicating hours or prompting us to just use the app to do the return. No one there. No great location to leave the truck.
Tanner VI always had great experience with U-Haul at other locations but this location was an exception. The guy responsible for this location was not in the office at the time of pickup (at 12 noon) and had placed a sticker "Sorry out" on the door. It seems he lives behind his office so I was able to see him and ask about my reservation. He wasn't aware/didn't remember that I had a reservation. I reminded him then he unlocked the office and let me in and gave me the keys for the U-Haul truck. I would acknowledge though, the U-Haul truck was fairly new and in good condition and drove really well.

Began calling at 9 the next morning to be sure they got the keys but no answer so left a message - called back again at 10:45 & no answer - finally got a call back around 1 p.m. saying they got the keys & were doing paperwork. Was concerned after leaving keys in lockbox & noticing on the way out that there was only one U-Haul on the premises & it looked more like something that was being used to advertise so got worried that we left it at the wrong location. They need a nighttime lockbox marked with U-Haul or something designating it is for U-Haul customers rather than just for storage facility rent checks.

PAUL WThere was no one in the office until 1/2 hour after my 10am reservation time. I was told I could keep the van as long as I liked, but when I returned, people were waiting to rent that same van. Once again, no one in the office to return van or to help waiting group. Other than being late, he was polite and quick to fill out paperwork.

JAMES BI called a number out of an old phone book, however someone did answer and took my reservation. When I confirmed the address she said yes that is correct. It was not! Had to go to the other side of town to pick up the trailer. How would that happen?

JEFF OI prefer the Uhaul at 6th and Kasold, where there are always people there when the business is supposed to be open. This was not a good choice, and I am appalled at how this business runs its operations when it is not open during posted business hours and phone calls are not returned at a decent time.

REBECCA JThere will be a letter to follow, but the only way I see that you can fix it is terminate the relationship with this dealer. Easily the worst customer service experience of my life. Took over two hours to pick up my equipment, and this is after I filled out all of the online express check-in information. If you need a U-Haul in Lawrence go to the 6th and Kasold location and let Sam Smith and her team help you.
