I was able to drop off my trailer after hours and found the drop off pocedure amazing. Parked trailer, went through easy to follow instructions online, took pictures and done. Mind blown! No need to return trailer to Champaign. No need to jump out of bed early to return trailer. Amazing!!! Thank You!

They had to go and get a specific person to do the u-haul transaction, which resulted in a short wait. That is to be expected at a small town hardware store though.

This was part one of the worst U-Haul experience I've had. I rented a truck and car transport for pick up in Champaign, Il. Two days before the pick up date I was told that the truck would be in Decatur, Il (56 miles away. The day of the pick up, after I was on the way to Decatur, I was called and told that the location for the trailer was Bloomington (45 miles from Champaign, 46 miles from Decatur). I was given the option to pick the truck up in Paxton, which was slightly more convenient, but still the drive totaled 125, most of which was driven by the truck and our car because we need to drive both to both locations. The truck pick up was not smooth. The person checking us out didn't seems to know how to work the equipment. The did not give us our contract and did not walk through the highly damaged truck with us. I left not feeling confident that I would t be charged extra when I returned the truck. U-Haul seems like a company that doesn't care about its customers. It inconvenients them and then doesn't bother with any compensation. I called customer service and left a message with a manager who offered an unacceptable 145 dollars off a 1,200 order. This company seems to be concerned more about profit than customer service. I will not be using U-Haul for my moves in the future. The manager said he was just glad he got us a truck, which seems like an excessively low bar for a truck rental company. What U-Haul could do to improve is 1) have trucks and other products available at the location your reserve them 2) have all products available for pick up at the same location. If they aren't where you reset them 3) offer upgrades (or even downgrades) when equipment isn't available at your location 4) offer reasonable discounts (30%) when 1-3 aren't possible Moving, especially one-way isn't a time when you want to be dealing with these hassles. U-Haul appears to be taking advantage of people who are stressed out and desperate because they have a monopoly on these type of truck rentals.

Paxton hardware and rent was great! The lady on the phone was rude and had a bad experience. I never got a courtesy call/text/ or email to let me know where I wanted to pick up my trailer up had changed. It was changed to Urbana, IL instead of Paxton. Paxton only had an open trailer and had to pay more for that! If it had Rained everything would have been ruined. Being in customer service I can't believe there was no attempt to make it right other than pay more for an open trailer or drive 40 minutes away to get a closed trailer. It was unexceptable and unfortunate. However the pick up place was great and very apologetic for lady on the phones behavior.

We reserved a truck in Bourbonnais IL but had to drive to Paxton IL to get it. It took over an hour to get the rental paperwork done and in the end, we had to remove the equipment we rented because there wasn't any there to rent. This sent us searching for equipment. By the time we got to Bradley IL, the help we had scheduled had already been hanging around for over 5 hours (8am-1:30pm). Because of this, we were not able to load and unload our stuff on Saturday. Returning the stuff on Monday was horrible also. The truck was dropped off in Rantoul IL but then I had to get all the equipment into my tiny car to return to Paxton IL because we weren't allowed to return the truck in Paxton because it was a one way truck and it's end destination was Rantoul.... The people at the pick up location were nice and their store was nice, clean and well stocked. I'd rent their trailers and equipment instead next time. I will never rent from U-Haul again.

I was not happy that just a day before picking up the trailer I had ordered, I was told I had to drive clear to Paxton to get it when online it said one was available in Danville. It made everything more difficult.

The actual place was not the problem. I requested a place in Urbana and had to travel additional miles out of our way to get truck. Seems strange to me, I had to go to a town of 2300 people from a twin city town of well over 100,00 to get a truck. The person in Springfield,( couldn 't tell if man or woman and they sure didn't give me their name, was rude and wanted to argue over anything I tried to ask about.

I was not told that my preferred pickup location was subject to change & had to drive from Champaign to Paxton & back to get it. Was advised at last minute that this was the case. Because of the change the person that was to pick it up for me couldn't to it & had to spend extra time & money to accomplish the remote pickup. NOT at all satisfied with this situation. U-Haul DEFINATELY dropped the ball on this one! As s final note the reservation had been made over two months in advance.

3 weeks prior to 7/8/14, (our moving date) we reserved a 26 foot u haul truck and 24 blankets at the Danville location. 2 days before pick up, u haul called and said they could not locate a 26 foot truck. They found a 20 foot truck and a 12 x 6 trailer to pull behind the truck. This was very frustrating since we had movers lined up to load the truck. What is the point of reserving one? We had to pick up the truck and trailer at Paxton, an hour away. Then he only had 4 blankets and I had to drive separately to Rantoul, another 1/2 hour in the wrong direction from home to get the blankets. So in summary u haul is very disorganized in their scheduling department. How can you run a business like that? We have used u haul twice before, once in Phoenix area and once in Dallas area with no problems. Illinois better look at the problems they have and try to do better. Thanks.
