LAVERNE CWhen I picked up my trailer/tow dolly the attendant had me hit my brakes and turn signals and said I was good. When I returned home and put my vehicle on the tow dolly I had my wife verify the lights worked. The passenger light was not working. I returned to the location and the attendant said there was nothing he could do even though there was another tow dolly right there. He sent me to another Uhaul center saying they would fix it. I went to that location and was told he couldn't do anything for me and I would have to call for roadside assistance. We asked him why he couldn't help us and he persisted that we had to call roadside assistance. I called roadside assistance and they told me they could dispatch someone but it would take over an hour for them to arrive. I informed the person on the phone from Uhaul customer assistance I was at a Uhaul center, and they told me that he should help me. So we asked the gentleman at the center to help again and he refused. This did get us upset and he said he wasn't talking to us anymore. The person on the phone heard this and said that is unacceptable. I then told the man we want a manager and he stated he was the assistant manager. When he realized we were talking to a Uhaul rep he decided to get us another tow dolly. He then had us come down passing at least 5 units that were in great looking condition but gave us a rusted worn unit. The lights worked and since we were already behind in time we took it. We hooked it to our car and loaded our towed vehicle to it. We got no more than 30 miles and the tread blew off the tire destroying the fender and light unit of the tow dolly, luckily no damage to my vehicles. We called roadside assistance and they dispatched a crew to pick up the damaged unit and had me drive to a Uhaul center 15 miles away leaving my towed vehicle behind. When I arrived at the Uhaul center they upgraded me to a auto transport trailer for my inconvenience. So now 3 hours behind schedule we are on the road for a 600 mile journey. Along the way we had to stop a bit hard at times and would get an occasional thud from the trailer, we thought it was the braking system in the trailer and continued on to our destination. Once we arrived at the destination we took the trailer to the designated Uhaul center. The attendant at that location looked over the trailer and asked if we had any issues. We said nothing except the occasional thud. He said the reason he asked was he found the brake fluid reservoir was empty and the trailer brake was not working. And the thud we heard was it sliding on it's glide and slamming into the tongue of the unit. He said that trailer should never had been rented out due to being unsafe. So we all went over my tow vehicle making sure there was no damage to my hitch or vehicle. I have to return to Florida from Tennessee and think having a transportation company return my car home might be the only option. Since we've had nothing but trouble and headache from this ordeal.

BRIAN HRef second question: yes it was clean however, the wheels were out of balance or something was wrong with the axle. At slow speed the trailer would shake bad and at higher speed would vibrate. I called the dealer to extend my rental period and informed them of the issue. All they said was to make sure I told the attendant upon return of the trailer. In addition I was told when I rented the trailer in Tampa that I’d have a grace period of of 2 hours due to unforeseen problems and that was not honored when I returned to dealer in Clermont Florida.

LINDA ASafe Move insurance was put on the tab without asking if I wanted insurance. My rental was for 2 days and I put 12 miles on the van driving primarily within a housing plan. I would have declined the insurance if asked upfront!

ROBERT Hrented a truck on 11/30/2025 (contract #10067598) at Personal Mini Storage Clermont. When I picked up the truck, the fuel tank was NOT full. I took a photo of the gauge and showed it to the attendant. He told me clearly: “No problem, just return it with the same fuel level you received.” I did exactly that – returned it with the exact same fuel level (I also have the photo of the return). Even so, U-Haul charged me $21.00 + taxes for fuel, completely ignoring what their own employee had authorized. It’s dishonest, unfair, and feels like a scam. Because of this abusive charge, I had to waste time and energy fighting for a refund that should never have happened. Worst experience ever with a rental company. I will never rent from U-Haul again and I strongly recommend that no one else does. There are many other companies that don’t try to trick customers with fake fuel charges.

STEPHEN MSecond rental from this location in a month and this truck had service stabiltrack lights on. Does this location check anything on these trucks because the last rental the air conditioning didn’t work. Might be time to switch to Budget or Penske.

TREVOR MRented a 26 foot truck you would turn the wheel one direction it would go the other way, it drove down the highway sideways we had to take back roads and used more miles and we were charged for extra miles.

RENE VRetrain the older gentleman that works at this location. He told me I was good for a 6am pickup and I found out the next day that I wasn’t. Now, this gentleman and I had the conversation the day prior and was assured I would be to pick the truck at 6. The man even gave me a walk through of when the Keys would located, where the truck would be parked and how to do it on the app. I told him my app still stated 10am. Man told me not to worry because on his end he can see that I have early pick up. Nope..

CATHERINE MYour customer service is horrible. Extra charges for gas even when you are filling up the tank. Thank God we had a picture to prove it. We were told we would be charged one price, and when we checked the bank, they charged us triple the price. When asked, they were getting mad and yelling at us. Never again, U-Haul, especially the Clermont location on 27th. You guys are horrible people.
