I reserved a car carrying trailer from Canada on 4/18/25 at Nash Road in Hamilton for pickup at 2722 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington NC, I also called the US location 2 days before arrival to confirm. When I arrived there 25/4/25 there was no trailer there, I was told I was at wrong location and that there was no trailer there for me. I showed the reservation number and location from my phone After 15 minutes with attendant making numerous phone calls I was sent to 2nd location, with no one there and doors locked ( 5801 Carolina Beach Road)Returning to first location and after another 15 minutes waiting while attendant made calls on phone, I had a discussion on attendants phone with a U Haul rep which I stated that I had gone to the second location and that there was no one there. He told me that the trailer I had reserved was taken out of service for brakes and tires. He stated that the only trailer available was at the second location and I was again sent back to 5801 Carolina Beach Road location. Only to again find no one there, and the door locked. After banging on door and sounding the horn of my vehicle for 10 minutes a person appeared from the back door of the office and opened up the front door. Having asked him about a trailer for me he stated he had none and that no one had called him to inform him of my arrival. He called the same U Haul rep that I had previously talked to who stated that he had texted him that I was coming, where he checked his phone and had a message stating my arrival. Having discussed the trailer and the price I was asked to pay $280.00 U.S., I explained that the quote I had been given was $240.00 (Cdn funds) and that I would pay the equivalent in US funds. Which led to another chat on the phone with the U Haul rep. I stated that there were notes put on the file from Hamilton, Ontario location from the manager stating the price quoted had not been changed to US funds. This was also done 3 days before my trip as I was confused myself as to the quote being US or Canadian Funds. I had gone back to U haul in Hamilton to clarify the issue. Now having got the trailer I asked about hook up, and the fenders that flip down, only to be informed that the attendant had no idea that the fender flipped down. Also asking about any paperwork required to take over the border to Canada was also informed that he did not know. I tried to pay in cash and was told it was not accepted, and it had to be Credit Card. I rent from U Haul often and this is the most disgusting experience that I have had. I feel that these 2 locations in Wilmington do not know how to handle U Haul rentals and should not be renting trailers at all. I would hope that whoever reads this contact me and hear about this experience and that they do something about it. Having been on the road for 2 days and arriving to this is not acceptable.
