Our initial reservation had a return drop off location of Wild Rose WI which is only 3 miles from our home. Night before we are told they no longer accept drop offs and would need to take it to Plainfield which is about 20 miles out of the way. We did get 15 miles credit but it also was an additional hour out of our time and gas to run there and back. Meanwhile there were all kinds of U-Hauls sitting at the Wild Rose location when we went to return the vehicle, this was disappointing. We assumed the truck was needed in Plainfield so we became the delivery person?

The computer system sucks. We spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to make this reservation. When we finally got it, we picked up the trailer about a half hour from the closest place that ended up having the same trailer.

This is a review of U Haul in general and not a review of the pick up location. U-HAUL needs to make the location where we choose to pick up the vehicle the actual location where the vehicle is. We had to drive 2 hours out of our way to pick up the vehicle. So while we weren't charged for mileage we did have to pay for the gas. So at the current price of gas at approximately $3 per gallon and the fuel consumption of 8 gallons per mile. And the fact we had to drive approximately 60 miles one way to get the truck it did cost us a significant amount of extra money.

This has no bearing on this location BUT your "traffic" division contacted us to say the truck was not back in the 2 days in which it was back at this drop off location is less than 24 hours. It appears after much leg work on my part that it was to the dolly being return to the original pick up location in Jackson WI. The individual was very rude and I did not appreciate her lack of even trying to resolve this issue instead simply telling me the truck was not returned. IT WAS HORRIBLE with each of the 3 calls I placed to this area. Your locations were both more than fine but this division of your company is lacking. Once again if I had to rate this area on a 1-10 scale it would get a 1 (HORRIBLE). Kind Regards, Pat Liedtke

I did not experience a problem with this location, they were professional and friendly. But, I did have a terrible experience with U-Haul!! I made my reservations 7 days in advance at a local U-Haul location. Five days later I got a call saying that they changed my pick up location to city 30 miles away and was told that this business did not open up until two and a half hours after my scheduled pick up time. I was told that if I did not accept this change, I was risking them not being able to fulfill my reservation. I asked if they would continue watch for availability in my city as this was going to be a big inconvenience for me and was told no. I was told that this happens when a customer makes "last minute reservations" (7 days?). Eventually they did offer to allow me to do a manual pickup prior to business hours were the keys would be put in a lock box and I could download an app and complete the checkout process online rather than having to wait for the business to open. The night before I was to pick up my truck I went online to get the U-Haul app. I was having problems logging on and had to call the 1-800 number again. This time I was told that the pick up location did not set me up for a manual pick up and that I was now scheduled to pick up my U-Haul in a city 53 miles away. At this point I was so frustrated I was literally in tears. The U-Haul rep that I talked to said that is the best he could offer and again, if I do not accept this change they would not be able to fulfill my reservation. I called early the next morning to see if there had been any trucks returned overnight closer to my home that would be available. This U-Haul rep found a larger truck about 30 miles away. Oddly while driving home after picking up the truck I drove past a U-Haul location in my hometown (the same city that I was originally scheduled for pick up) and there was the same size truck as I was given sitting in their lot. In the end it all worked out, but this was a super frustrating experience.....between all the changes and time wasted on hold waiting to speak with a rep (wait time for the three calls I made was over 30 minutes each time) I will certainly think twice before using or recommending U-Haul to a friend. It just seems to me that they could do a much better job securing a U-Haul for a reservation when they were given a weeks notice.

I was supposed to drop off in friendship and got a message right after I picked up that I had to drop off in Plainfield. That is a 40 mile round trip which also means I had to waste an hour of my time, instead of being able to go 5 miles from my house. It would have been nice to know this when I made the reservation. I will probably not Rent a U-Haul ever again. I will go with a different company. Nobody even offered a discount or anything

Had requested trailer be picked up 25 miles closer to where I was, yet delivered here so an inconvenience. On line info filled out yet was ignored. Did pre pickup info on line as well and still had paperwork to yet answer on pickup. On line site is worthless if not helping customer. I had purchased insurance in case I, caused damage to trailer, and yet when I checked tire pressures, they were 35 and 32 pounds under inflated. (65psi required). IF I had an accident with under inflated tires, it would have been my fault and would have had to pay, plus to the damage of my belongings inside. Was charged 3 times the cost of same trailer going back as I had bringing a similar trailer up. Not going to rent again if I can help it. I could have purchased a trailer for what I had to rent this trailer with trailer and insurance fees... Do your walk around and have representative sign off as all ok, BEFORE you pull off the lot. Better safe than sorry.

Get people who know how to use your program to rent the truck, or at least know basic computer data entry. Took way too long until they got someone who knew how to use the computer program.

I was very unsatisified with the treatment I received when trying to pick up a truck that was reserved one week before pick up date! There was no apologies, or no discount because of THEIR ignorance and fault. I refuse to use True Value or U-Haul again. Simply put, I was treated poorly, and it ruined my entire day. My husband and I went to bed hungry that night after moving out much later than anticipated. We got up early enough to finish up, and have the U-Haul truck returned. Clean and ON TIME.

I would rate the Plainfield location as above average for the service they provided. The reservation was made a week in advance at Central Wisconsin Satellite at 2730 8th Street S. in Wisconsin Rapids where I live. Two days before I was to pickup the car dolly that was "reserved" I was told that I would have to go to Plainfield location to pickup my dolly because Central Wisconsin Satellite rented the one I had "reserved" to someone else!!!! So rather than picking up the dolly on my way home I had to run a round trip of 60 miles to pickup the dolly that was "reserved" in my home town!!!! Needed some boxes and went to Bud's corner Market , another u-haul place in town and told them about my problem and they told me that if you "reserve" a piece of equipment it will be at their location on the date it was "reserved" for. So guess I need to ask the people at Central Wisconsin Satellite at 2730 8th Street south and maybe U-haul to explain the concept of "reserve" or to make a reservation to me.

The personal was very friendly and helpful. They went through everything about the truck and where the drop off would be. I would have friends and family if they needed a moving truck go there. I also thing for long trips like I hand, all your trucks need cruise control; it would help on saving gas. This truck did not have cruise control!
