About U-Haul: In hindsight, I will reconsider the Truck Share 24/7 option. It was not clear to me that this service meant I would be picking-up the vehicle remotely with no office or personnel on site. I thought it was only to speed up the administrative process by collecting and verifying my license/payment information ahead of time, and allowing me to confirm or manage my appointments, etc. through the phone app. If Truck Share 24/7 is the only option, I will call ahead to ask questions about the service location to ensure I will feel safe. I also suggest a policy to include an instruction sheet in the glove box for basic features, operations and adjustments instead of only emailing the entire vehicle operating manual. That said, I do consider U-Haul’s rental fees to be reasonable and competitive and I will use them again in the future. About the location: Originally, I was supposed to pick-up at 10am, but my plans changed, and I didn't need the vehicle until the evening. I called at 9:30am to request a later pick-up time and appreciated the accommodation, especially since I was picking-up on a Saturday of a mid-month/move-out weekend. This location is at the end of a dead-end street with poor signage and does not have an office and did not have staff on-site. The parking lot is gravel and poorly maintained with several deep potholes. Other than a small sign attached to the fence and seeing the fleet of vehicles, there were no directions to an office or pick up procedure. I called, thinking maybe I was in the wrong place to locate the office. Initially my call was forwarded to an answering service. A few moments later I was called back from a blocked number and was asked if I was at the gate. I said yes and was then told which vehicle to select. The vehicle doors were unlocked, and the key was in a lock box attached to the inside cage. I was given the code to access the key and instructed to take pictures or video of the interior and exterior of the vehicle. I was a little disappointed no one was there to show me the basic operating instructions of the vehicle, nor ensure I was able to adjust the seat, steering wheel and mirrors properly. This service is offered or provided upon request at passenger rental locations in case the driver is operating a new-to-them vehicle for the first time. It’s not a stretch to assume someone is renting a large capacity vehicle for the first time. I was not allowed to leave my personal vehicle on the property, I had to park it on the street for the entire rental period, risking parking tickets or towing. When I arrived for pick-up, it was 6pm, so it was still light outside. When I came back to drop-off the vehicle, it was almost 11pm on a Sunday evening, very dark with the only lighting coming from the street or from across the parking lot. There was no other street traffic what-so-ever. I felt quite unsafe being there alone, especially knowing the vehicles are unlocked and the lot is not visible from the street. There was a random tote box with miscellaneous items in it as well as other debris strewn about in the parking lot, making me fearful that I wasn't alone. The vehicle I rented had food remnants on the floor and empty drink bottles in the cupholders. It is unclear if this was from previous renters or from people hanging out in it. The inside of the windshield and the dashboard were very dusty making it hard to see while driving at night. However, the vehicle had low mileage and seemed to be mechanically well-maintained. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this location to anyone out of concern for personal safety unless you will be accompanied by someone during pick-up or drop-off or attending the property during daylight hours only. If the location would make some changes to the property, I would consider recommending or using them again as they are very convenient to the Leaside & Thorncliffe Park area residents. About the vehicle: I rented a 9' cargo van, and it did ok on fuel. I drove 359 kms (entirely on highway) and refueled 49L to bring the tank back to full. I am only 5' tall and once I learned all the controls, I had no problem adjusting the seat, steering wheel and mirrors to be able to drive confidently and comfortably. I will rent this same vehicle again should the need arise.

The pickup process was very easy and done remotely without any physical contact. The only potential issue would be if I was not able to connect with the U-Haul representative via phone, i would have had to call back or wait for a returning call. This point is mute given that I had no issues connecting with the representative. I’d highly recommend and will use this location and service again!

I reserved a U-Haul 20 days in advance and requested two dollies, but upon arrival at the pick-up location, I was told that dollies were not available. I expected to be informed a couple of days earlier so that I could find another dolly, which was necessary.

Location was bad. Employee did not walk me through the inspection like previous times at different locations. Truck was in poor condition and sounded as if it might break down. I returned the truck with more gas than I started with and they charged me for a fuel surcharge. I have a copy of my receipt from the gas station next door showing a refilled the gas which you can cross reference with how many miles I put on the truck. Overall would not go back despite being a really convenient location.

Reservation made almost a month in advance and got a different truck, smaller, making my plans harder than already was. On top of it, reservation included a dolly which wasn’t available too. Lastly but not least, truck was returned with same amount of gas as when I pick up, but I was charged for refuelling. Overall was a huge deception. Not recommend at all.

Nobody was available at the location, where as I was told to pickup keys from the counter which caused a 45 min delay in my pickup leading to additional time and kms on the ride due to increased traffic. The number written at the pickup place was not reachable going straight to voicemail and uhaul customer care took too long to answer. I paid for a dolly which was not in the truck which added extra time in my moving process.

There were no instructions sent beforehand on what to do when I arrive at the location. I expected some sort of UHaul office, or even a UHaul employee present, but there's nothing - just a parking lot with UHauls and a paper taped to a shipping container with a phone number. Should I call the number? Who knows. Ok, so I call the number. A guy answers and tells me to wait - his employee is on the way. Did I mention it's raining? Finally someone arrives. He tells me to take pictures of my drivers license. I tell him I already completed the online check in. So he looks on his system, and there it is. Finally he gives me the key for my UHaul. I have to do my own damage check of the vehicle - he's already helping the line of other waiting customers. The truck is pretty scratched up already, so what is considered "damage"? Unclear. The pictures of the truck on the UHaul check-in site are also unclear. Whatever - I agree to everything. Then I turn on the truck. The dashboard tells me "Service tire monitor system". That seems important and worrying. But the guy assures me it's fine. I believe him, or rather, I believe he believes it. He seems like a good guy, all things considered. So I take my life into my hands, and drive off to do my house move. Late.

Was told to arrive at 8am for mobile pick up. Got there just before and was informed there was no mobile pick up at this location. I then waited untill 9am for someone to arrive to get my U-Haul. The rest of the day went fine but I was delayed by over an hour. We have a U-Haul booked for the end of the month but are cancelling our reservation because of this experience.

The young fellow that checked me in was both very pleasant and efficient. The truck was very dirty inside and out from previous renters. The seats needed a vacuum too. The van itself was excellent and almost new but as I said needed cleaning.

Ensure that when someone makes a reservation, it is held. Not everyone owns a mobile phone so when talking to agents for booking and make it absolutely clear that you do not own a mobile phone but have an iPad that has cellular data so can do emails that that is relayed to the U-haul associates. And when you do the chat box to try to figure it out, the AI chat is clueless so please make it a human contact. Once I connected with the associate, the experience was AWESOME!!

I had a low air in tire warning sign when I was on the highway, and I was also charged a lot for fuel when I pretty much filled it up right to the same amount as I picked it up at.

The yard is wet and a mud-slick when rainy. It is not a well-kept yard. There is no office. The business is run from a mobile phone. The vehicle was not ready even when doing pre-check-in over the computer. The driver's cab floor was covered in mud. The driver's side door knob was missing. The driver's side door leaked air. To top it off, I returned the truck with more gas than I used and was charged $30 in extra gas. After multiple calls and emails with photographic evidence, the money was returned to me after three days. I was not impressed!

A little hiccup at the start of the rental process couldn't be helped. The system was down. The staff were forthright and accommodating and soon we were on our way. Good job, 12 Canvarco Rd U-Haul!

The people who worked for U-Haul (phone, app support, and on-site) were outstanding. The technology was quite frustrating as there were several instances where we were stuck waiting for some silly technology to process/load. I love the idea of upgrading into the modern world, but there is still work to be done. Personally, I'd rather deal with real humans over this app. Moving is stressful and the online service certainly did not ease stress.

So terribly unorganized. Cancelled the reservation for the dolley and furniture pads the day before my move. The service manager refused to help me find a location with a replacement dolley and pads. Said theres nothing she could do and i could try calling back in the morning but its “first come first serve” which makes no sense since i made a RESERVATION. She directed my call back to the main menu and i was finally able to speak with someone who reserved me a dolley at different location. The next day i go to pick up the dolley and the location was CLOSED. There was a man there who also reserved a truck for that day and he couldnt even get a truck because there was literally no one there. What is the point of making a reservation if its not honoured???? When we went to pick up the 15 foot truck as soon as i started it the dash board said “low brake fluid” which was terrifying to learn how poorly the trucks are maintained. They gave me a different truck on the lot. Im thankful i at least reserved the truck for 9 am because if I hadnt i imagine there would have been no more trucks available for use. HORRIBLE experience. Im shocked we even got a truck with how bad this company is.

One of the worst service providers. Kept on changing my booking since I booked and changed the truck capacity and pickup location a few hours before the pick-up. Ended up taking a huge truck which was a hassle to drive in city. If I wasn't stuck, I wouldn't have ever used this service.

Brakes were scary. The UHaul broke down and had a bad experience trying to get it to restart or be towed quickly. Returned it early as I was afraid to drive if. Nobody offered any type of refund for my troubles.

The employee working was 30 minutes late for his shift and I stood there waiting in an empty lot for my truck for 30 minutes. When he arrived, he gave me the keys to a truck covered in ice, with no ice scraper for the front wind shield. Fortunately, another waiting customer gave me one. The truck was dirty and the back latch was frozen, which took me another 30 minutes to open when I arrived at my destination. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I will never return to this location again.

They didn't have the dollies that we requested, but made up for it by giving us one appliance dolly which was better than nothing. It would be best if the reserved equipment is available. Other than that, the truck was clean and available on time.

If you are going to have a system set up to 'pickup my truck' online, you would hope your IT programs work properly. The whole check in and return my truck experience was painful. The Uhaul app never worked, saying an 'Error has occurred' when trying to log in. I was unable to upload my driver's license when an text message was provided 2 hours before my reservations time. Associates at 1-800-GO-U-HAUL were helpful with trying to troubleshoot but ultimately told me I needed to be on site to pick up my truck online and that's why this step was disabled. While onsite, resorting to the mobile website I had the same issues, unable to upload my driver's license and ultimately unable to locate my location (while I was standing right in the Uhaul lot!). With no one physically around in the lot to help, I was utterly helpless. A 1-800-GO-U-HAUL representative stayed on the line with me for close to 30 minutes, she was very helpful and patient through the ordeal, but they could not be of full assistance. A glitch free platform and physical associates on site are a must to help. I left my movers waiting for me and the timer running while I struggled to get my truck. It was the worst experience. 40 minutes after my reservation time, a Uhaul associate finally arrived on site and helped me out. I had no issue with the truck or the pricing, but the whole 'find my truck' and 'return my truck' online is a terrible and ill-functioning. Don't even present the option to have the general public use this service, if it won't work easily and seamlessly. Terrible.

I reserved for 8:30 and there are options to reserve earlier but was only able to pick up the truck once staff were present which was 9. Once the guy came he was nice and it was quick to pickup, just wish I was able to pick up at the time I requested.

The grounds of the location is extremely muddy. However I did not have to get out of the vehicle. The two employees hitched the trailer up and made sure all lights worked. The one employee in charge was very professional and pleasant to deal with.

1- The estimated fee was $84, but the final fee was $176 for a distance of only 23 kilometers. 2- Gas: When I received the pickup, it was one line above a third of the tank. I loaded (filled) the tank with only $16 for a distance of 23 km, and the gas gauge had two lines above a third of the tank. Bad service, cheating and stupid data reading and transfer. Ali

Pick up was very easy and I loved the follow up there. However the fellow on the phone didn't seem to be able to see any of my reservation details, nor my license that I had uploaded. The wipers were broken and we had to pull off the 401 when they stopped working and have them fixed at a gas station. We returned the van when scheduled but a day later, I got a call asking when we were planning to return the van? So phone calls were great follow ups but the people who called didn't seem connected to your reservation system/app, nor did they have eyes on the lot. Very convenient location though and great that you can do phone checkin.

Website indicated that this location has remote/mobile pick-up which is why I booked it. I got a call one day prior indicating that mobile pick up is no available at this site. We were able to work out a very satisfactory solution. I recommend that the Website reflect actual services provided at this location. This location is not staffed and a U-Haul representative has to meet you there.

I have been double charged for 2 days when I only had the van for 4 hours and returned it early. I rented on January 3rd and saw extra charges the next day that were wrong. I have called 3 times and was told first that they would fix it in the next hour, then that someone would look into it and now they won't respond and have done nothing to contact me or correct their error. A good vehicle but terrible Customer Service. Do NOT rent from this location.
