Upon arrival the location to pick up the uhaul , they closed at 2pm (September 11, 2021). I called to let them know that we we're running late from the airport and wouldn't be there until shortly after 2 pm. I was told that the store would be closed and that the keys to my rental will be in the unlocked cargo van in the cup holder. No big deal I was ok with that. I get to R&S Auto Service to get the van, go into the van and the vehicle is absolutely filthy! It smelled like a barn, there was some kind of animal hair all over the seats, the vehicle was disgusting! There was fort, grime and some kind of grease all over the dash, cup tray, anywhere you looked! The drivers side rear view mirror was cracked, the back of the truck was filthy and disgusting, the outside of the vehicle was filthy as well! The rear of the van was hit. I tried to call UHaul at the 800 number listed on my contract but unsuccessful to talk to someone and I had no time to wait 90 minutes for the next available agent. I just flew in from Florida, had a job to do and had to go to work. I took plenty of pictures of the condition of the vehicle before I left the location. It's a shame that money is god to these places! This place obviously does not care about their inventory or their customers and I'm embarrassed that I had no other options that day, because I am a professional and what I pull up in on a job represents who I am! Uhaul costumer service is horrible! You changed my pick up location from a couple miles from my home to a city location, then to a different location that was 10 miles away, charging ME for the extra miles and the inconvenience. No one at the rental location or Uhaul would answer when called. Horrible customer service!Christopher J.
I see this in every business today. Customer service is at an all time low. This was the owner of R & S Auto that I dealt with and waiting 45 minutes to get the van was disappointing. His auto business is more important and I understand that issue. The UHaul location in Orland Park, IL on Southwest Highway is preferable since that's all they do.Daniel N.
I thought when you pickup a u-haul the gas tank is always full, but as long as you don't have to return it full I guess it;s all right. I did return it with more gas than when I picked it up.ALBERT M.

This was not the location I had scheduled to pick up my truck and trailer and was 40 minutes from my house. The owner of the business is closed on Sunday's which was my scheduled pick up day and stated that if I was 10 minutes late he would leave. In an effort to be courteous I was 30 minutes early and he was 15 minutes late.Timothy C.

The worker at this location was pretty rude, I arrived 10 minutes earlier than my reservation time, there were people infront of me and I understood but when It was 10 minutes passed my time I asked the employee what was taking long I had a reservation and pre checked in for my 10' truck. He stated that this is like when you go to the doctor they tell you one time but keep you waiting I was upset at that point because I only reserved the truck for 4 hours. At the moment I decided to have my daughter call Uhaul directly to see if an adjustment can be made to extend my reservation time because I have been waiting for a hour for the truck. Customer service of Uhaul was fantastic and extended the time to 24hrs. I now know that I will book a truck directly from Uhaul instead of one of their sub lenders.Jose O.

I think the cost was ridiculously high. I couldn't get over paying for a truck for over 800.00.and the mileage was around 70 miles. I will think twice before I use a u-haul rental. Linda SantacaterinaLinda S.
They didn't have the truck I reserved and on top of that they made me switch to a bigger truck that I didn't need. They didn't have the padding I requested when booking. This was my first and last time getting a Uhaul. It was unacceptable.Janvi P.

I was really upset we set our reservation @9am and it was not met. We were not given a call or any notice we had to wait 4 hours to get the truck. Not ok, it cost us extra money. The guy at this location was nice however the U-Haul service was horrible never again will I rent from U-HaulSean K.

This dealer is a thief he charged me 99 c per mile and he told me its 69 c when i ranted the truck plus he added almost 15 miles extra tonthe out mileage and it was my mistake i didn't check ill never rent from u haul again after dealing with this shitty placeOMAR B.

1) There isn't signage that alerts you that this is a UHaul location. So, we drove past it at first, thinking we were looking for a UHaul sign. 2) Our pickup time was 10am on Sunday. Now, apparently Sundays aren't busy rental days, so few locations are available for pickups on Sunday. We had no choice but to select this location. The scheduled time was 10AM, and we arrived about 10 minutes early. The owner and his team were already outside the location, blocking the entrance in their vehicle for 2-3 minutes, then decided to leave. At the time, we didn't know they were the owners, they could have been potential renters. At 10AM, no one was there. The were contacted and saud they would be there in 5 minutes. Finally, about 10:15, the owner and his team arrived (I should say, re-arrived), and let us in. Very strange that they were already at the location before 10, left, and then decided it was ok for them to open quite late.Michael B.

The inside of the drivers area had chips and junk. The man was not informative or helpful. We tried to add an extra driver and he said it's too late because he finished the reservation. He never went over anything with us or gave me any receipt or documentation. When we returned he tried to over charge and say we picked insurance which we never did. We argued that we would have told him that if he was helpful and went over it with us. He said too bad. Then when I said I was calling uhaul he claimed to call himself and removed the insurance fee. I'm not happy with the service there.vanessa K.
I did not see the fine print on the fuel re-filling so that is on me. But I drove 33 miles and was charged over $22 then added on a $30 service fee. I believe this is called price gouging. I don't think it is too hard to verbally explain the fuel charge.Michael D.

The owner or man that accepted our return was rude in that he almost completely ignored us when we walked in to his office. He was on the phone and then proceeded to make another phone call before helping us. He NEVER said hello or thank you. He just printed our receipt and handed it to us. Additionally, his parking lot is totally packed, so it was very difficult to find a place to park the truck.Cherity L.

The passenger seat had a ton of crumbs left behind as well as some trash left behind and also the tire maintenance display was on. Other than those items that could have been easily been taken care of, all was good. I would rent again from this location.LYNN R.
When i picked up the van there was food still inside as well as an empty gatorade bottle and some scraps of paper in the back of van. The tires needed air and the light was already on when i picked up the van. I set up the rental from noon Saturday til noon Sunday but was told they are closed Sunday so just drop it off before the end of the day. Because of that i went into work Sunday before dropping van off. They called me at work because now they were open and had someone scheduled to pick up van. If that was the case why would they tell me something different on Saturday? And of course they charged me an extra day for the rental. Which I'm sure was what they hoped for. I've rented from uhaul before and never had this problem. It must be this location.kimberley J.

This store is too small and you can hardly fit a small car in the drive. Reserved a 27' truck 3 weeks in advance but had to keep going in and checking to be sure it would be there. The location changed the night before.LINDA M.

When I spoke to someone about getting the rental I needed it for a 34 hour period and they told me I won't get charged the $29.95 fee twice but when I got to the pickup location, I was told I would.Angelika S.

Perhaps a larger Dropbox.....or empty the current one out more frequently. No staff on premises(it was after normal business hours), which wasn't a problem for us, but it can surely become one if the current drop box is overfilled.BEVERLY J.

I put 4 gallons of gas in the truck. We were charge for 19 miles of service and I was told we didn't refuel the truck with enough gas. They tried to charge me for more fuel.CYNTHIA T.
There was nobody there to handle dropping the truck off on a Sunday. I realize the drop off was listed for Monday when I have to work 5 AM to 5pm but there was nothing mentioning that no one would be onsite Sunday to handle the return. I ended up leaving the key with the gas station attendant. Another problem was that I ordered a 17' truck and wasn't notified until the day before that only a 14' was going to be available. A trailer was offered but that would just have complicated everything.KENNETH V.
The air conditioning didn't work. Warm humid air blew out of the vents. It was raining on the day I rented the truck and the windows kept fogging up. the contract said I was to be charged $0.79 per mile, instead I was charged $1.19 per mile.Thomas S.

First of all, I rented in Arlington Heights and was told it might be another Uhaul "in the area for pickup." The FAR south suburbs on a Friday is NOT in the area!!! We had 10 people wait 2 hours at our house while we sat in Chicago traffic driving almost 100 miles round trip to pickup the truck. Then they had computer problems. The employee was trying, but they were understaffed and he was running the gas station, too. THEN the truck had a coolant light on. The mechanic put in a little coolant and said "it's a bad sensor. Don't worry about it." So when we got the truck home, we had to THEN go buy more coolant and keep adding it til the light finally went off. It was NOT a bad sensor...it was extremely low on coolant. I am so disgusted with Uhaul for sending us on that ridiculous trip to pick it up in the first place, but we had no choice at this late hour. I called Uhaul and asked if they had some system to get the rental closer to the customer and she said, "Nope." Will I ever rent from Uhaul again? NO WAY!!!RICHARD A.

They check off 1/2 tank gasoline. I was riving out of the rental location & noticed it was a hair over 1/4 tank. With the location of the store, it would take several blocks to pull back around. When I returned the truck it was over 1/2 tank, so I lost out on this rental. The pads were just thrown around the back of the truck. I at least had the courtesy to fold & stack them in the back of the truck.Gerald W.

U Haul had given previously given me a $25.00 off confirmation number for which I could use on another rental at another time in the future. When I rented the truck I told the person that I had the confirmation number and if they needed it. They said when I bring the truck back they would apply it. I brought the truck hack on time. They told me to write my name and number down on a piece of paper and they will call me. I told them that I want a receipt so I waited. They handed me a receipt and left quickly. The reason I feel they did that is because they did not apply the discount. I then looked at it and saw there was no discount on the rental and asked why. The uhaul rep takes his cell phone out of his pocket and acts like he is calling a uhaul rep to correct the problem. He hangs up and says he can't get ahold of uhaul and he will call me by Monday in which he never does so I still wind up paying full price. Uhaul needs to penalize their representatives in so way when the do this. They are giving uhaul a bad name. I will never rent from them again.MARIO W.

First off, honor the reservation taken. Meaning, have the vehicle ready at the place and time reserved. The original location did not have a truck and I found out after 5:00 PM when I arrived. They then arranged for this location to rent me a truck. When I got there, no one was available to rent me a truck. The manager was called in while I waited for over 10 minutes. Wasn't there some sort of gaurantee?Chris R.
many things wrong 1- the lady is too slow doing the papers 2- I reached their at 12, and I finished at 1:47 leaving with a truck, they gave me first a very old truck, that doesn't even have AC, it was like an oven inside, and there is noise in the engine and in the ac system. 3- I told them I already have a truck which is newer and much better condition than this, I'm renting, because I drive on the high way and I need something convenient and reliable, so, they were like this is what we got. I told them here is the key and I will call the company later on, you already wasted my time. and I told them, you can charge me, but let me go, I don't want any truck. 4- the boss there is a mechanic, and he has a very poor customer service, I'm a business manager, and they are too bad, and think they are smart and people are dumb. 5- so , they were going to charge me and then let me go, but when I told them that I will call the company and discuss this with them, they were like, let's try to find you another truck. and I waited 45 minutes, and then they gave it to me, I tried my best to stay calm and don't complain at all, but I was feeling so bad. 6- when I realized that those people are not honest, I took pictures for the truck before I get in, but they didn't notice me, and I also got pictures for the odometer .... .and I handed the truck at 10:50 pm. the following day in the morning, the lady called me, and she was laughing and said in a very silly way, oh, you exceeded the allowed milage for you, you drove exactly 300 miles !!! I was like, no madam, you didn't got it, I had pictures, right before and right after driving the truck, so, she was like, Oh, let me call you back, I went to the location and showed the pic with the time, so, I drove 86.3 miles . Honestly, such people make U haul reputation is bad, we have business and we needed extra trucks at least twice a week, other companies gave us better deal than u haul, and much better customer service, I even don't think about renting from u haul after this.MOATH N.
The only item that was a disappointment was that the advertisement on the truck stated the vehicle had A/C. On the hot day I rented, the trucks A/C did not work. Other that that minor inconvenience, everything else was good.Matthew G.
