I am actually writing about the U-Haul location at 1 Virginia Road, White Plains, NY. The staff there are the ABSOLUTE worst. I ordered a U-box, packed it, and arranged for it to ship on July 9 to California. Seven days later the box is STILL in White Plains. You charge me nearly $1,600 and you don't ship my box?!? That's breach of contract, and that's now becoming credit card theft. And the staff member who did this? Not even "I apologize," or "We'll make this right." And then I call Jamie Mapes, the president of this U-Haul region, twice, and what does she say? NOTHING. She doesn't pick up, and doesn't call me back. Zero stars, and a lawsuit is on the way if they don't correct this situation.

Truck was fine but the Uhaul app didn’t work so I had to get a representative from the storage place to check me out for my rental. Added a lot of unnecessary time to my day.

I had an email confirmation for a 15 foot truck. I called the afternoon before to confirm. They informed my they had no 15 foot truck, only 10 feet. If I hadn’t called I wouldn’t even have known. I was moving my 92 year old mother and this made the move a lot longer and more difficult. Extremely unprofessional operation. No apologies, offers to come up with a solution, discount on the price. Really bad.

The check in process from was atrocious. Absolutely terrible dealing with the folks on the phone after the online check-in didn't work. Can't think of a worst example of customer service that I've ever dealt with. Just terrible.

The van smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It was unacceptable. In addition, it was not made clear (with amount) that fuel was a cost. It was an additional cost that a surprise and thus enraging. U-Haul needed to spell out clearly (particularly during the mobile rental process) any additional costs.

The fact that uhaul charged my account 3 times and basically uhaul blames the bank and the bank says no it’s uhauls job to refund the money but I’m the customer who is now out $150 in my account until it gets resolved. I fee uhaul should also comp the actual truck rental charge for the major inconvenience they have caused me

Make sure the app accepts the proper pick up time. Even this I entered 8 am, somehow online the pick up time became 12 noon. Fortunately, the guys at the location were a great help and quickly got me on my way.

I’d like to give a shout out to the customer service person in the office. There was an issue with Tesla who had a show and decided to park all there vehicles blocking in the trucks. This guy went above and beyond to get our truck out. Well done

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review until now. The people I had to deal with throughout my ordeal with U-Haul was so atrocious that I’d like to try to steer others away. We had plans of help fall through and my partner and I ended up having to move ourselves ENTIRELY on our own. We needed to extend our rental time - and I was met with nothing but rudeness and grief. I was repeatedly told personal information about another customer who had rented a truck as if it was my fault that there was no replacement for them. I was even told “I hope you understand the frustration of making the next customers move late and pay for movers”. They were catching flack and pushed it down my throat. Tracy, who answers phones in the traffic office allowed me to finish approximately 3 sentences. She was EXTREMELY rude and interrupted me over and over. When I asked to speak to her manager, Hope, she put me on hold and I waited for 45 minutes. I had my partner call from his phone and when he asked for Hope he was transferred to her immediately. I was over charged, I ordered furniture pads online to be with my truck, they were not there and I still haven’t been refunded for them. Laziness, incompetence, unprofessionalism, rudeness. That’s what you’ll find at this location. I’ll never use this location again.

The location and Chris were very good. However I was charged $125.07 additional after the return of the truck. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get it straightened out for 2 weeks with the 1-800 telephone number. I would not rent a u-haul again. My reference # for the case is #1934901.

Location needs more dollies. Directions from the south need to be more clear -- to turn at light BEFORE Toyota dealership, across from Staples. Communication was outstanding otherwise. Service wonderful. I LOVED driving the 10' GMC truck, it drives like a charm! Front desk even shows me the button to press for saving gas. Thank you, UHaul for a great day!!

I was given a return address for 24 hour drop off. When I arrived for the return at midnight, the center was closed. I called uhaul and was given another 24 return location. That location turned to be full and they directed me to a third location for return in the Bronx. The process took me two hours longer than it would have had I the correct information. I called uhaul again to confirm that I would not be charged a different drop-off fee and to request a partial reimbursement for the cost of time I incurred. After three calls to uhaul they apologized that they could not transact a reimbursement but assured me that I would not be charged a different drop-off fee. Now I have been charged a $49 fee. This service is deceptive, unacceptable and needs to be reported to the BBB.

Return phone calls to customers. Ensure a truck is ready when reserved. Be accessible if there is a major problem with a rental. Have furniture pads in stock if reserved. Coordinate with the regional manager if problems occur. If missing furniture pads that were reserved, help customer locate them from another local dealer.

The safe haven self storage location and staff was excellent. The overall U-Haul experience was not. My preferred pick up was in white plains. And when I was moved last minute to mount kisco i was told I would be getting an additional 60 miles for my troubles bringing my total to 309. Upon return of my vehicle in Springfield Vermont the 60 additional miles were not reflected and I was charged additional money for the miaelgage overage which was incorrect. U-Haul in general is so unorganized with your contracts and I have not had a good experience with U-Haul in a long time. Again the safe haven location was fantastic but your scheduling and customer service department is horrendous.

Problems are with U-Haul Corporate: very poor communication and inability to interface with its own registration system. Also problem with a prior franchise in Goldens Bridge, NY - fraudulent charges which I understood to be resolved remained on my account for 2 years without notification of any kind. Mt. Kisco office was perfect, however. U-Haul needs to do a better job with customers and in policing its franchises.

Over the last 30 years I have occasionally rented from UHaul - mostly trailers as I did this last time. Previous experience was NOT that good. The service @ your Safe Haven Self Storage location was EXCELLENT! Chris was excellent - he explained everything, showed me the whats and hows and made my rental trip effortless. I would highly recommend this location to everyone and anyone. No improvements necessary at this location.

There were only 4 moving blankets in the whole facility. The manager was diligent in finding them, how ever I reserved 24. Uhaul needs to serve this distributor better! Try moving a 17’ truck with 4 blankets without damage- stressful.
