We rented a 10 foot truck to move my son. No problems at all. Easy pickup. Easy to drive. The return is a little tedious, but not difficult. Will rent again when I need a small truck.

I had scheduled this for Great Lakes Ace hardware in Newport Ky. Du to the availability of a pick up truck instead of a box truck. Also safe ship had limited selection at the time. When I set up the time it told me I could pick up at 7:30 am via mobile phone. when I end to check in it start the process it changed to hand deliver so I had to wait till 9:00am. Thankfully I left had not left the house yet. When I arrived at Great lakes ace hardware I was told that the truck was over booked and that we didn't have one to rent but I was there first. The other thing is you have to drive to a different t location over a mile away to get the vehicle. When I drove by there there was a pick up I won't got to that location again the service is bad and having to go to a different location is awful to get the vehicle. Safe ship I have rented fro twice now and both times was excellent. I stopped by in hopes he would have something I could use wheelie everything was booked he needed the truck back by 1:00 if I could do what I need I could have it. Safe ship worked with me and met my needs. U-Haul should give them more opportunities with more trucks.

The return was HORRIBLE. I could not connect to the internet to check in. I called into the 1-800 number. They just kept telling me to go on line to check in. I will NEVER use U-Haul again. It took nearly an HOUR for me to finally check in the return. Taking all those stupid pictures was ridiculous.

It takes too long for the automated system. Check-in should e advised to complete 15-20 mins before arriving and returning took way too long.

I booked my trailer Friday and Saturday. Then when I went to drop it off the location was closed. So I looked at my email and it said drop off Sunday. Well I was like how did that happen. Called the number no answer no voice mail to leave a message. I unhooked the trailer and put it where they hooked it up for me. Then Monday I'm getting calls and email. This review is not for Safe Ship NKY. We were forced to pick up from "Steele's Bottom Feed and Seed." We easily reserved our truck in advance for our cross country move, Kentucky to Arizona... during a pandemic. The day before our pick up we spoke to someone at Safe Ship to confirm our pickup for a 15ft truck and everything seemed fine. A few hours later some other uhaul employee called us to tell us they didn't have any trucks available for us. Not even a 10 or 20 foot truck, and apparently nowhere in the state of KY or the Cincinnati area. Obviously we were surprised about this because we had already booked this truck... again, in advance for a cross country move. She tells us she'll call us the next day to see if anything comes in over night. Basically making it seem if they didnt have a truck we were out of luck, even though we reserved one! Meanwhile we researched Penseke options and honestly we should've went with them. Luckily the next day we were told a 10ft truck (smaller than we wanted, we had to leave some of our belongings behind) came in and was ours to pick up but we had to drive 40 MINUTES away... they wouldn't even get the truck to our preferred location. Oh well, we had a truck and we'll go pick it up. So we called the location, Steeles Bottom Feed & Seed, and the man that answer said "I don't know anything about a reservation I don't normally work here". So we had to call uhaul back and get in contact with the employee in charge of those locations. Luckily he was able to do all the payments and such over the phone and we didn't have to deal with the "employees" of the feed and seed place. All this unnecessary trouble for us and they only gave us a few extra miles which meant absolutely nothing. We got the truck (which had mud covering the bottom of the drivers side) and made it safely to AZ. When we went to return the truck the uhaul employee tried to charge us for the mud but luckily we had photos from the day we picked it up to prove it wasn't our doing. Overall, we will never use uhaul again. And will never recommend it to anyone moving. Moving across the country is already stressful, especially in a global pandemic and throw in an incompetent moving truck company and it made it more stressful than necessary. For all of that we deserved a discount but uhaul couldn't even do that. Incompetent business, horrible pick up locations, we will never use uhaul again. Obviously this doesn't reflect Safe Ship as we never got to use them like we planned. But it does reflect the horrible business model uhual has.

I used the Newport Ace location and will never use it ever again. They are the worst U-Haul representatives I've ever experienced. On top of horrible customer service I was overcharged!

Be open 7 days a week so people can return it and get it checked in without having to wait till the next day. So when they return it they can close out the transaction without having to go back to the dealer and close it out.

Service was good. It was just more expensive than i anticipated. $360.00 for a day and a half. Just wish it was more affordable, i guess the extra cost was for gas and mileage? Besides that the service was good.

When I arrived and checked in online it said truck by back double doors. Found it then got the code for the keys. Go to the truck not the right truck. It's poring rain I called since the location is closed due to the virus. After 30 mins figure out the truck they gave me keys for is in the very back of the lot, I just had knee surgery so I'm walking all over this lot in the rain on the phone. Was told to go ahead remove the cardboard from the window and take that one. And now I get an invoice for double what I was quoted. And was not offered a refund after I spent a total of 45 mins figuring out what truck. I returned with full tank of gas. Never will I rent a uhaul again really bad customer service I should have been refund some money for all this instead of being charged double of what I was quoted. I rented the truck in the same town I used the truck no idea why I was charged so much.

Check the cargo area for items left behind. I opened my cargo unit at my departing destination and there was an invoice with an order of several boxes, wrapped in plastic, sitting in the cargo unit. I had to remove the boxes before moving to the arrival destination. After moving, we had to go back to original location to pick up the boxes and put them back in the cargo unit before returning the U-Haul. This added additional mileage and unexpected time to the vehicle.
