We arrived and location was closed for 45 minutes after the time I was told they would open. When we did arrive, the employee ignored us and then finally stood up from behind the counter where we could not even see him. Check out was ok. Upon return, the employee walked out past me as I was walking in. He didn’t acknowledge me. I dropped the key in the lock box at app. 10 am. I then watched the same employee remove the key from the lock box. The next afternoon, I had to call because they had my rental marked as overdue and not returned. Overall, I will never use this location again and may consider another company next year for our annual trip.

The back area isn't very well kept. There were three other trucks parked and I had a space to park mine but I needed to avoid an old rug and a pallet that was on the ground. It's not a very nice area but the property itself could be better maintained
LUCAS CU-Haul changed location 24 hours before. On the day of pick up, the store was 45 minutes late to open, it costed me $300 dollars as a late fee with my moving company. Additionally, the truck was on empty. Horrible experience.

tyler nWhen you compare to the service at Elliot Rd it doesn’t compare. Just the minimum. Only recommend for my friends that don’t ruffle easy. It’s an easy location in the East County and he helped me get the price of a 15’ for a 20’ because he ran out the night before the move. He wanted to charge for the bigger truck and I said I would just cancel and go somewhere else. He made it work.
JULIE SIf I'm required to have a given amount of gas in the tank when I turn it in. Then I should not be picking up a truck with less gas than that. Truck was also fairly dirty, particularly the windshields. Also had loose trash in the cab and the cashier seemed a bit unfamiliar with the system. Took way too long to check out even though I had done electronic check in.
Randall AThis is a review on Uhaul, not the santee location. I book a uhaul closer to my address but when I arrived there were no trucks to be found. Then they made me drive 30 minutes to a different location to pick up a truck to use. I don’t know why they would allow me to book at a location that had no trucks available. The santee location did a good job with everything and made the pick up and drop off seamless

fred rWhen arrived workers seemed very confused of why I was there. Then proceeded to give me a truck with a padlock on the back in which they have no key to take it off. We stood around for 30 min while the worker called the owner on a landline and proceeded to have me talk to the owner over the landline phone. They were going to make me wait so they could cut it off, but I explained I was in a hurry because of the time allotment. They then gave me another truck, but only after basically begging. Owner was apologetic when I returned the truck so that is the reason there’s two stars instead of one.

Francisco SFor all my troubles renting the equipment I got just 15 extra miles free (I was renting one way from Fresno CA to Santee CA) the rental allowed 406 miles. When all was said and done I went a few miles over and had to pay $5.00 extra upon return. Not much but wasn’t pleased since I had the run around in getting the rental van in the first place. Just irritating

william mThere was almost a hiccup concerning the equipment (dolly and moving blankets) that a homeless guy in a fenced area behind the liquor store was essentially guarding. Luckily he wised up and gave us the equipment we rented, but we almost didn't get it as he wanted us to talk to a guy at the liquor store (at 8 am) when they were closed.

The owner of the store didn’t show up until 930am. U-haul gave us $50 credit but I wouldn’t use this store for truck rentals ever again.

Dominic TI was given a u-hall with a broken mirror and was electrical taped on. It was the passenger mirror and it would not stay where you needed it to see. I was unable to see at all on that side. When I brought this up to the store his response was oh they didn’t fix that? You don’t have to drive on the freeway do you? This was extremely dangerous for me to drive And at time I was unable to have a passenger with me so I could not make certain turns and had to find alternative routes to be able to drive. This was the most stressful experience driving without a working mirror and being such a big truck. Safety should be the number one priority. And it was not in my case.
