Nothing about our interaction with the U-Haul subcontractor or the U-Haul reservation process worked for our recent (10/1/2022) reservation. I do hope you read this and try to ensure a better exprience for future customers, which is why I am providing this feedback. We wil avoid U-Haul in the future if at all possible. 1. We made a U-Haul online reservation 1 week in advance for a moving VAN and 2 sets of moving pads to be picked up on 10/1/22. We selected the location for pickup as Southern Self Storage (Waldorf, MD). The afternoon before our scheduled reservation, we called the pickup site to verify eveything was ok. We spoke to a staff member who confirmed they had our reservation and everything was all set. 2) Our reservation was set for 10am. We arrived just after 10am. We were then informed by the clerk "Oh, they moved your pick up site and called you." I looked at my phone and verified I had no missed calls, no voicemails, and no emails. I told this to the clerk and asked who called. He said "U-Haul called." I asked what time, and he said 10am. I showed him my phone - clearly no calls - and ask how if made sense that we would receive a call at 10am telling us our reservation changed dramatically if our pick up time was 10am. He had no response and blamed U-Haul corporate. 3). the "new" pick up site was 25 minutes away from the original site. I told the clerk we would not be going to another site at the last minute when our reservation was tor this pick up at his site and I also told him we had a limited window to get our moving done. Their solution was to rent us a 10' ft box truck which had just been returned, was unclean, and did not have a full tank of gas. When I pointed out that the whole point of a "reservation" was to ensure you have what you need when you need it, his only response was "Yeah, U-Haul doesn't guarantee the vehicle or pick up site, only the ability to get a vehicle." THIS MAKES NO SENSE - and it competely contrary to any definition of a reservation. 4). We proceeded with the 10 ft box truck as a fix for the problem. But, when I asked about the 2 sets of moving pads / blankets I had "reserved" I was again met with blank looks and the clerk said "I don't think we have any." He checked and sure enough they did not. So, not only was our reserved vehicle not at the location, but the supplies we needed were also not present and not reserved or ready for us. We had to drive to WalMart to buy a bunch of cheap blankets to use as improvised moving pads - and spend another $40 doing so. 5) This entire experience was beyond frustrating. The subctronactor / pick up site had 0 sense for customer service, did not honor / could not honor any aspect of the reservation and through U-Haul corporate under the bus as if they had no responsibility for the customer experience. If we have other options or more flexibility in our moving needs, we would have walked out and never looked back. Needless to say, our sense of a "reserfvation" does not align with the reality of what we expeirenced. What we experienced was awful customer service, completely flawed reservation policies/system, and zero accountability. Do not rent from Southern Self Storage (Waldorf, MD) and think twice before using U-Haul if you actually believe in reservations as a means to hold the vehicle and pickup location convenient to you.

I feel like the truck could of been washed out and the cab was wiped down. Lots of people driving these trucks and nobody wipes the interior down before Customer gets in the rental.

The location is near my home, James the person I spoke with and whom I picked my trailer up from was polite and professional. James even provided me with great advice on how to use the trailer since it was first time utilizing a trailer hitch. Thank you for your help James. Yes I would also recommend this location to my family and friends.

Please clean the inside cabin of the Uhaul trucks. The inside was so filthy that I couldn't believe that in the midst of a pandemic that this was even offered to customers to use. It was dusty, the windshield was held together by tape, it looked like someone spilled something in the cup holders and on the floor and never cleaned up. It was so filthy that I did not even want to touch anything in it. Please consider the health and welfare of others when renting your equipment. You may want to share what your COVID cleaning protocols are.

Talk to the owner who didn't check the truck prior to giving it to me. He just filled out the paperwork without checking it. First time I've ever experienced something like this. I contacted the owner and he said “you signed the contract before checking it, oh well. Im sorry I can't help you”. I was charged for not putting the fuel gauge back where it was but in fact I did. It was only 9.00 I was asking back, it's the principal of it.

Oil was spilled in truck however the uhaul manager or attendant was aware and made it known. Wrong key was in box, key was for the van when I ordered a 10' truck. Receptionist did not seem to know the difference between the van and the truck when I called and confirmed prior to pick up. Truck was new and clean except for oil spill in back by previous renter.
