I had to push down really hard on the brakes. The truck "slipped" forward when changing gears. It needs maintenance. The rep at the store was ready for me when I arrived, and processed my reservation quickly. This is the third time that the pickup location was changed without notifying me! There has got to be a better way to communicate when I request a location but for some reason it is changed and I find out last minute. Perhaps I'm missing something on the emails. I checked my reservation in the morning at it hadn't changed, then I check again and it's changed. I was late for my pickup.

The lady helping me kept making calls Flonase her cell phone for her liquor store business while I was trying to rent a van and get on with my day. Then, when I returned the van I got a bill for $101+ for returning the van with a 1/4 of gas which is not true. I only used 13 miles, no way I used 3/4 tank of gas for 13 miles. I called corporate office and the lady was shocked at this charge and entered a dispute for me. She was also able to see the rental after me received the van with a full tank. Not happy with this location or experience

The gentleman that took care of us was awesome. The app and checking in was ridiculous and the vehicle was overbooked. I checked in on the app and still had to answer the same questions as well as add an additional person that was not asked for on the app check in. Also, on the app it said that the picture of my license was "optional" when in fact it was not and I had to take the pictures at the checkout counter. Again, this was NO fault of the gentleman working there. It was the fault of U Haul and they need to clean up their practices and their online app. Things were very unclear and contradictory.

This isn’t my first U-Haul rental. Sadly I seemed to know more about the process than the store. I rented a cargo van. When I arrived to pick up, one of the first things I said was that I forgot the cell phone that u-haul has on file, and I would need the photo info sent to the phone I had with me. The rep did not understand and said that I’d already uploaded my drivers license so it wasn’t needed. When he gave me the key, I *again* stated I don’t have the phone to do the walk through of the van. Rather than send it, it came outside, walked around it with me, and said I had the insurance coverage, so it didn’t matter anyway. He also pointed out the van was new. At this point I wanted to get my day moving so I went with it, took some photos to my phone itself. When I started the van, the low tire light was on. I went inside to report this and he advised me it was “just the sensor”. I asked to see that in writing since it didn’t make sense the new van has a bad sensor. He asked if I wanted to discuss it with an area manager, which just didn’t make sense, if there was no documentation to prove it was a bad sensor, or even offer to check tire pressures before sending me out with an unsafe vehicle. We decided to scrap the van and I rented a truck instead. The paperwork for the truck said it had 5/8 tank when in reality it had 1/4. I had to go back in again to question this. He went out to confirm and called the area manager. They informed me to just adjust it as part of the vehicle check in process, via the text they sent to my phone. At this point, I explained for the THIRD time that I forgot the phone tied to my reservation and needed it sent to the phone I had with me. The manager talked the store employee through sending the link to the phone in hand, and I was finally able to get on my way after verifying equipment condition. The actions on the store end reflected a complete lack of training on the basics of renting a U-Haul. In still in disbelief that I was expected to take a new vehicle with a low tire light, and believe it was “just a sensor” and not a safety concern. There’s other uhaul locations in the area, I’ve dealt with 2 of them in the past year and they were both fine. I’ll be going to one of them there next time I need a rental.

The equipment was terribly maintained. The steering was scary and you had to stand on the brake pedal before the vehicle showed any sign of slowing down and that’s driving around town.

I ordered 12 covers for furniture I was moving and they did not have them . They wanted me to drive to another location to get them when I explained numerous times I was on a time crunch. I had to move my expensive furniture without any covers in turn they incrued damage I was not happy. What was the point of asking for a service if your not gonna receive it

The safe move insurance was not explained to me accurately, that it was a per day charge. I was charged for gas even though I returned the truck with the same amount of gas that was in it when I picked it up. This location charged me a $20 NJ security deposit fee that does not show on the U-Haul corporate receipt

My problem wasn’t with this location. My issue is with the U-Haul experience in general. I made my reservation on 4/29 well in advance of when I needed the truck on 5/11. I went to the pick up location that I reserved (u haul of deptford) only to be told that they did not have the truck and my pick up location changed. No one from U haul contacted me about this change. When I arrived at the new location in Woodbury, the truck was there but all of the supplies I reserved and needed for my move, were not. Then, upon returning the truck, my return location was also changed without my knowledge. I received a last minute text and email from U Haul telling me that I agreed to return the truck to Burlington U haul. I never agreed to this and was never contacted by U haul to discuss a different return location. I returned the truck on time to Columbia Moving and Storage in Bordentown NJ as I agreed to do when I made the reservation on 4/29 and again confirmed when I picked up the truck. U haul makes an already stressful experience of moving even more stressful and chaotic with last minute changes, missing supplies and absolutely no communication. Awful experience.

Truck was in good condition. Staff was helpful and accommodating. Transaction completed smoothly and with little effort or wait. All told a very pleasant experience which I would not hesitate to recommend.

The location and the folks there are top notch. The truck we had however was trash. it was clean BUT the brakes and steering were awful. If I weren't going limited miles I would have asked for another truck. This truck needs to be retired or overhauled.

Please remove the mobile check in portion of this service at this location since the customers still have to go inside the liquor store to get the equipment key. I checked in while parked outside using the app, only to be instructed to go inside. Once inside, there were 4 other rental customers in front of me. Now my 1pm scheduled pickup became a realistic 1:45pm by the time I got the key amd completed the necessary vehicle inspection. Having to go inside to get the vehicle key just is what it is… But the customer should be informed of this while making the reservation so that he/she doesn’t wind up an hour behind their own planned schedule for the day.

I was informed by the manager that if I brought the trailer back before the scheduled time, the contract would be adjusted. I returned the unit a day ahead of schedule, and they still billed me for the full contract time. I received no help with loading the trailer when I received it or when I dropped it off. I have used U-HAUL many times in the past, but this experience was the unacceptable.

The location was fine but communication on the back end (nothing to do with location) is a major issue, the app is really limited and phone time is ridiculous. Make it easier for CUSTOIMEERS not harder.
