Hector MWhen my husband arrived, the cashier inside the market was not willing to give him the key, even though he was the designated driver. The cashier said he was not trained in the U-Haul process/system. When the cashier’s boss called him back to give him proper instructions, he was then willing to give my husband the key. Additionally, then when my husband received the U-Haul, the fuel meter was at 1/8 level. When he returned the vehicle, he marked the needle mark as how he received it, and now we are being charged $40+ for gas because the gas needle is not at 1/4 tank which is supposedly standard. He drove the truck for 8 miles only. It’s clear that the person running this U-Haul location is not refilling the gas tanks and also have unlicensed/untrained people handle the trucks.

Quincy VI booked at the Santa Cruz a month ago, but changed to San jose one day before pick up date. Also, time was changed to 9am from 8am. I didn't receive a UD, but charged full amount. Very disapointed, delayed more rhan 2 hours of moving schedule..
Jose iThis review is regarding drop off. I drove a U-Haul for my parents from Seattle to San Jose. We unloaded the truck, swept out the box, I threw out some garbage behind the seats from a previous driver, and we filled the gas to past where we were required to as indicated by the contract. I went to drop off the truck, the guy at the counter was dealing with a market customer and he just acted all friendly and waved us out, saying we were good to go. I should have known better and just made him check everything over and sign off, but we were tired from all of the driving so we just went with it. They docked us another $200 for having not left enough fuel in the tank. This is a blatant cash grab, we left more than we were required to (a half tank). Even if we left it empty, it was costing us less than $200 to fill the entire tank at each fill up. Evidently, this is one of those U-Haul places that will be dishonest and steal from you if given the opportunity, so just make sure you make them sign off before you leave the equipment with them.

Derek CCustomer Service Representative at this location was very rude. This is the second or third time I’ve been here and every time he’s had an attitude. As well tried charging me separately the next day, if I were you I would go the extra couple miles to another location.

Scott SThere was nobody representing U-Haul when I dropped off the truck. The person at the counter knew nothing about U-Haul services and he refused even to inspect the condition of the vehicle. Also,, I was charged for an extra day (after my complaint that charge was removed. Another thing, I was charged for returning the vihicle with less gas in the tank than when I had when picking the truck. Through U-Haul website at pick-up time I informed that the level in the fuel was lower and I uploaded the picture to U-Haul website. PLEASE REMOVE THE UNFAIR FUEL SURCHARGE FROM ORDER #:84215641; I DROPPED THE CAR WITH EXACTLY SAME TANK LEVEL.
Sergiy PIt took at least 20 minutes to get the truck, apparently the people that handle it aren't even there so the person behind the counter at the convenience store has to call them and then get a call back, it's kind of a mess. The truck reeked of cigarettes and is seems like it's from the 90s.
Blake JInteresting fact. The phone number shown for this location is NOT to a business but an unknown person who exclaimed "This is a personal and private number. The gentleman handling the Uhaul business at this location seems well liked by regular customer who come in for corner store items. However, it might serve him well to invest in an actual U-Haul point of sale system instead of doing it all on his personal cell. As a businessman, perhaps this is best suited. Yet it appeared cumbersome.
MICHAEL AThere was ashes in the cab area and in the ash tray. To get anyone on the phone took 2 hours to pick up the truck was confusing. I would not recommend

Keenan Gmy pickup location was changed at the last minute, which was not a problem, but there was an issue where I was unable to complete my check-in/ID upload online due to the changed location. When I arrived to the pickup location, it was not clear where I was supposed to be checking in to pick up my truck. The person at the counter at Starbrite was extremely unhelpful, he told me to call U- haul (the phone number U-haul sent me as contact info in my confirmation text was not correct, it was someone's personal cell #). when I finally got ahold of someone w/ U-haul, they told me the person at Starbrite was supposed to be checking me in. After 30 mins on the phone w/ customer service trying to complete the check-in process, we finally got the truck. The person at Starbrite had no idea what they were doing.
