Great customer service, the air condition was Broken in my box truck , as soon as the manager found that out he called me, and was apologetic, and let me no he would adjust the price. The reason I rated this location one below Excellent has less to do with the location but more to do with the cell reception required there in order to use the Uhaul app. The contactless app experience was terrible. The app was VERY SLOW and took forever to get through all the steps for BOTH the pick up and the drop off. And of course no one was around to help. The screens kept freezing after every data entry and picture. Next time I for sure will not use the app. Or if I do never at this location. This needs significant improvement.Paul C.

Rented a Uhaul truck to move furniture. The bed of the truck was filthy, rocks and dirt everywhere which marked up the base of the furniture. Not happy at all.Joseph P.

I am emailing regarding order #2935681. I had scheduled the truck for a one-way Boston to New York City move. I picked the truck up on Friday, March 25th from the U-Haul site at Audubon Road in Wakefield, MA, and just dropped it off at the U-Haul drop off at Shell Gas Station at 3260 Broadway NYC. The latch opened three times while I had the U-Haul. This is completely unacceptable, and made moving an even more difficult and anxiety-inducing process. The first time it opened I was had just picked up a desk in Allston, MA. A lady kept beeping so I stopped and she yelled â€œit's open!â€ I immediately hopped out, closed it, and went back to my apartment to continue packing. Later that night my brother commented that I should get a lock, to prevent theft. I thought the lock might also help in preventing it from opening again. After purchasing a lock in Wakefield, MA I started my drive to NYC. Luckily, I made it without the latch opening, which could have resulted in serious injuries or worse to those driving behind me. I was extremely anxious and travelled slowly. Upon arriving in NYC and unloading my items, I went to pick up a few chairs in Inwood. On my way, another driver began honking and yelled â€œit's open!â€ As I had locked the back latch, I was in disbelief. I successfully got the chairs back to my apartment, and decided not to make anymore trips (though I should have been able to as I had paid for a truck rental to move items until tomorrow morning, March 26th at 9AM). I went to return the U-Haul, leaving from 238 West 101st Street to 3260 Broadway NYC. In the 1.7 miles it took to get there, the latch had opened again. I arrived and purchased gas, then parked the truck with the help of the attendant. Once I finished the U-Haul equipment return and hopped out, I was met with another attendant who asked how my experience with the truck was. I let her know immediately that the truck had opened three times while I had it; she commented that she had noticed the back was open when I entered the gas station. After relaying my experience to both attendants, including that I had used a lock, the attendant who had helped me park said â€œit should not need a lock to stay closed.â€ I agreed, as I was never told it needed a lock when I picked it up; I had only purchase one to prevent theft when the truck is parked, not to keep the truck closed while in motion. The attendant who helped me park went and drove the truck; the lady mentioned that he should drive over bumpy roads to see if the truck would open. I had to leave, so I did not get the results of the drive. Regardless, it opened three times while I had it which is three times too many. Two things: - First - Unrelated to the above, why was I charged $42 for SafeMove coverage when I did not elect for this coverage in the online reservation? Please refund in full. - Second - Please refund the full amount of the U-Haul reservation, as this was an incredibly stressful experience. I should have received a fully functional vehicle. Also, though this goes without saying, this truck should be taken off the road immediately until it's fixed as it is a hugesafety concern and liability for U-haul and customers alike (imagine having it open on the highway going 60 MPH with luggage - it could seriously injure somebody, damage their vehicle, or worse). Overall the experience was fine, but there was a half full gatoraide bottle left in the trick and they did not have the 10 moving blankets I ordered, nor could they issue me a refund on the spot. I had to call support to get that handled down the road.Trever C.

I was assured by customer service via telephone that the Wakefield u haul location was the closest to my first destination in Boxford and it was not. I had to drive 25 minutes away just to get to the location in Boxford. This ate into my mileage and I was charged the extra mileage fee. Additionally, I was initially told the pick up representative would give me the drop off location depending on the location I wanted to drop off and was instead told to find a pick up place myself after I was done. Not knowing where I was going to drop off and calling several places to drop off added an additional layer of stress during the moveULISES G.

The cab smelt of cigarette smoke and needed to be cleaned. The size of the truck was shorter than what is listed on the website (12ft 5inches on website, 11ft, 11inches actual) this was a problem because we needed it to be at least 12ft.Emily R.

Truck was dirty and had a foul smell like body odor also I was over charged I was told it was $20.90 for truck and $1.59 a mile but when I returned truck I was charged an additional $24.00 for some reason it was for some coverage that I didn't ask for I went 47 miles which is $74.73 plus $20.90 = $95.63 plus tax I was charged $124.00 plus change not happy at allLESLI B.

The a/c in the truck didn't work there was a steering issue and they're triple charging me for mileage. Very unsatisfied. I had the truck 3 hours and they said I drove 75 miles on 1/8 of a tank of gas.Christopher S.

It is wrong to advertise a truck for $19.99 and end up charging a customer nearly $90. Your prices per mile are extreme, especially if the customer needs to fill the tank up after use. I would not recomend your services to a friend, instead I would adamantly steer them away from your business.SILVIA R.

I had no idea there was a back up camera in the mirror. I found it too late to use it. No problems though. Also, I did not know that I was going to be asked to photo the inside of the truck or the odometer once finished, so I locked it and dropped the key in the outside box and went home. Then, at home, I read the rental agreement and had to go back to take pictures through the windows and not able to photo the odometer, just remembered the mileage. The mileage cost was not apparent as I was scheduling the rental. Thought the cost was 19.95 per hour and I booked for 3 hours (although returned in 2 hours). Thought there was unlimited miles.
