Had a horrible time getting the truck. Not sure what the issue was, but we spent around 2 hours on the phone with support troubleshooting why the GPS feature in the app wouldn't recognize that I was literally standing right beside the truck. None of the troubleshooting helped, could not get the app to work. Finally (after literally hours on the phone with support) someone gave us the code over the phone to get the keys. Not a great experience, but thankful that the uhaul support reps helped us get it resolved by having the local manager call to give us the code!JOHN G.
Truck was supposed to be different location, this one way 20 minutes out the way. Interior of truck was dirty, spilled drink all over console. Super blades were terrible and made driving in heavy rainfall hazardous.Scott H.

If not for the owner/manager proactively contacting me I would not have known my pickup location was nearly 40 miles away from the location I selected when I reserved the truck. When expectations change you need to do a MUCH BETTER JOB communicating than simply hoping people read the fine print in an email.james H.

Travelled 3.5 hours, from Daphne,Al. to Tuscaloosa, Al., to move my new college graduate daughter out of college apartment (college move-out day). I called U-haul several weeks in advance. Original pick-up location and time was supposed to be Skyland Blvd in Tuscaloosa, Al. upon store opening. Rental was not available when I got there. Even though the rental was reserved several weeks prior, also verified rental availability 48 hours prior to pick-up, and promised a gaurantee pick-up at this location and time (Tuscaloosa, Al. @ 9:30 am). Yes, they changed the pick-up time also. Ultimately, because we needed a rental that day and had taken off work to make this trip, we had to drive 100 miles out of the way, on top of the 3 1/2 hour drive from the Alabama coast that morning (we live on the coast and reason for reserving ahead of time). The pick-up location ( 50 miles one way, was way out in the boondocks). Luckily, after speeding the entire way, we arrived just after they closed, but the employee was kind enough to wait for us. We were also lucky because he only had one trailor left of the size we were wanting to rent. Also, for our inconvenience and troubles, U-Haul didn't offer anything, so I had to ask for any type of discount, which U-Haul only took off $20.00 off from the rental price, wow, thanks! U-haul didn't appear to have a back-up plan for these situations, they solely rely on an individual returning there rental equipment on time at a prescribed time and location and then you renting that same peice of equipment once the previous tenter returns it. Well, I think they should always keep extra on hand just in case someone doesn't return their rented equipment. Instead, it just snowballs. Customers arriving for pick-up of their reserved rental, after me, were also out of luck because some people not only return their equipment late, they wait until the next day to return it. Very bad experience overall. Would have made a huge difference if U-Haul would have went alot further on the discount that I had to enquire about.Jim D.

Better service/staffing at the Vestavia al location where I originated the rental. I have used this location several times prior including storage and found it to be apathetic and impersonal and lacking competence at all levels. Move the staff from the Brentwood location to the Vestavia location and it would become bright and shining.Norman R.

went to drop off tow dolly the one person at this business who was working on a vehicle stated that I needed to unhook and drop trailer myself not sure if thats a good practice for u haul to be a part of and he also stated that l would recieve an email confirming that I returned rental but I never got email if you are so put off having to deal with having u haul at your business then dont.lawrence M.

I stopped by the Tire Doctor on Friday (day before move) to make sure of what I was to do when I dropped the truck off. The man I spoke with was not friendly and made me feel like I was stupid. I had NEVER rented a U-Haul before and I wanted to make sure I was doing exactly what I was supposed to do. I didn't want to have any problems when I dropped the truck off as his shop was going to be closed when I brought it back.Cathy P.
It's not necessary this location's fault, but I had a 26ft truck and drove 6 hours with no a/c on the hottest day of the year at the time. It was miserable, but at least I had a cooler of ice in the cab with me. Also got a good tan on my left arm due to riding with the window down the whole trip.Andrew L.

DO NOT USE UHAUL AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY THIS LOCATION AND THE LOCATION BY THE FAIR GROUNDS IN B'HAM AL. this location was an absolute and utter disgrace to the uhaul company, i have used uhaul very many times, and each and everytime i have returned the truck with the amount of gas that it had when i left. i rented a uhaul on 7/7/15 and only rented it for a day and when i got ito the truck it was at half a tank, and when i returned it, i filled it back up to half a tank at the gas station connected to this uhaul establishment. on 7/8/15 i returned the uhaul and no one was there to even sign off on my paperwork, saying that it was right. well on 7/13/15 i noticed a charge from uhaul that i DID NOT authorize to come out of my account, for $22.40. number one the paperwork says if not returned at the same amount that you will be charged a $30 fee. welll when i called uhaul they said that there was nothing that they could do, and that they were sorry. if you return a uhaul youre supposed to have someone sign off on it, but there was not a soul in sight at that drop off location, so now, im being charged for uhauls screw up, please if you can help it use a different rental service, ANY rental service would be better than them, because they will tell you that everything is fine and you wont be charged, then they will do it anyway with no notification or anything, and thats illegal. so please if youre moving or in need of a truck use metro, or two men and a truck, yes the initial fee will be more, but bythe end of the time i had the truck i had spent more money because of the gas and them taking money out of my account too, for NO reason. so all in all they are TERRIBLE, not to mention the truck was beat up and not clean at all. so please remember NEVER EVER use this company, They will SCREW you over, and not do anything about it. the fact they had no one there and are charging me is ridicilous, so i will be contacting my lawyerCHARLES H.

The customer service representative for the Birmingham region was very rude and disconnected from my call in the middle of explaining my concern with a reservation issue; however, the agent at the Rock Creek location was very helpful, kind, and courteous.ALVERTIS B.
