I had an annoying problem with the UHAUL app when picking up the truck. Even though I had photos of all the sides of the truck as requested, it gave an error that I was missing one. I had to go back and forth trying to do it again and again. Finally it took, but I spent 15 -20 minutes taking photos and playing with the app.

Johnathon JDrop off was changed by U-Haul to a mini-storage facility. When I walked into the building at 1:25 I was abruptly told "We're closed for lunch" even though all of the signs said open. When I told him I was returning a truck he just pointed me to the drop box and waved me away.

Hunter GRyan was amazing! There was a not so nice lady chewing him out because of the lady’s mistake on missing her time to pick up the uhaul. She was really late so she had no reason to chew Ryan out! Not his fault!! The Uhaul ended up being rented to us since the lady missed the time she signed up to pick the uhaul so uhaul made it available to rent. We had rented it since the policy was not kept. When we came in to pick it up we witnessed Ryan being so kind and calm despite the lady’s rude behavior for her own tardiness. Even after Ihaul was so kind to give the lady another truck no extra cost! Ryan was so patient and went above and beyond for us. People need to be more punctual and kind this was not his fault! Recommend doing business with Ryan anytime!
michelle rThe self pick up feature in the app is terrible. They should have you do it the day before you pick up the vehicle not when you’re on a schedule. Customer service on the phone was very helpful. Also with the self drop off the instructions aren’t very good either.
Markus LInside of cab was not cleaned; crackers and soda cans under the seat were missed; otherwise was clean. It's appalling and scam-like when Uhaul is the only rental I've used that 3/4 tank is acceptable; it guarantees the customer will over fill the tank and so as not to be overcharged for gas thus Uhaul gets free gas (at the customer expense)

Collan CThe app is horrible - at least for Android users. The geo location doesn't work either to find the location or to check in the van. The attendant inside, while helpful, kept telling me to use the app and didn't seem to understand or believe that the app didn't work as advertised. The pricing is misleading - advertising less than $20/day but the mileage is almost $1/mile which in my case more than doubled the amount for a move within a fairly short distance. Overall, got my stuff moved but I really wish there were other options than using UHaul.

April LAbsolute nightmare pickup and drop off process. Made me feel I was totally unvalued and untrusted by U-Haul. Clerk was very understanding and friendly, but I’ll go budget next time.

It had a list of things to bring and instead i brought items that weren’t needed when I was asked for insurance i didn’t have it ready took 30 min to pick up and 30 min to drop it off

Ryan the customer service representative was amazing and sweet and kind and supported me when I was stuck with the app trying to complete my registration it was complicated and he fixed it in a jiffy and got me on the road! I really appreciated him and his energy and efforts to support me in my human triumphant experience that week! Thank you thank you thank you! He's the best and I will refer! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Gretchen BMy fiancé and I booked a U-haul on February 26 Sunday at location 15112 S Pony Express Rd, Bluffdale, UT- 84065 (Reference number: 77661797). The pickup was at 6:30 PM which was after business hours and we had called the location just to be sure if we could pick up the truck after business hours to which the U haul representative said yes. When we reached the location it was a gated storage and we were unable to open the gate. We called the number which was on the gate (801 542-7000) and the owner of the storage denied to open the door for us and told us that they don’t open gates for uhaul after business hours and that we will need to reach out to Uhaul. We called UHaul customer service and the representative was not aware of it and helped us to book another 20’ Truck because there was no 15’ truck available nearyby. As per the representative, the nearest location was 13.6 miles away (U-Haul of Murray-Murray, UT). We got it booked (Reference number: 77686867) through the representative on call and went to the location only to find out that the truck number provided to us on the U-haul portal was not available. We reached out to customer service twice and nothing was arranged at that time. Eventually, we had to cancel the booking because of unavailability of the truck which the 1st customer representative told us was available. We booked another U-haul from my fiancé’s account (Reference number: 77687201) and had to book a 20’ Truck at a Riverton location (13658 S Redwood Rd, Riverton, UT 84065) which was near to the 1st location (Bluffdale). Same size truck which the 1st representative could have booked for us but we had to travel 13.6 miles to Murray only to find out that the truck was not available. We traveled from Murray to Riverton location (14.2 miles) to finally get a truck which was all done by us. The customer service was not much of a help in this situation where we were only traveling from 1 location to another. During all this there was a snow storm and we were made to travel during a snow storm because of lack of knowledge of Storage office hours which does not allow U-haul customers after working hours, booking a U-haul through U-haul customer representative to a location which does not even have the truck. All of this took more than 2 hours + the snow and chilling weather made the entire experience bad with Uhaul.
Dhruvin NThe person I spoke to on the phone about reserving was condescending. He kept telling me I needed to do the reservation online because that’s what people do now (ever since Covid). I was bullied into the insurance, and threatened that I would have pay for damages, even though the truck already had scratches and dents because the all of the damage would need the be seen in the pre-rental pictures to avoid charges, and that’s impossible. If insurance is going to be required, just put it in the upfront cost. The pick up process was ridiculously difficult. The app didn’t work well. It wouldn’t confirm that I “wasn’t a robot” and allow me to sign in. When I finally got signed in, it kept saying my photos were not acceptable because the app was blurry, not my camera. At one point kicked me out to begin the sign in/not-a-robot process again. When I finally clicked on “complete” I received a message that my ID picture had to be retaken because the agent confirming couldn’t verify my identity. The truck was old with scratches and dents on multiple sides. What’s the point in the “insurance” if you’re not going to fix the vehicle? The alignment was off by a quarter of a turn and there is play in the steering wheel. The brakes felt soft, but worked okay. The padlock for our “convenience” was stiff and old. I ended up not using it for fear that I would not be able to get it open once it was locked. It needed some graphite or WD40, which I was not going to take time during my paid rental time to maintain. The whole pick up process took me 45 minutes, which came out of my rental time. The drop off was also ridiculous. I had to watch a video about how to drop off the vehicle, then take pictures to verify where I had returned the vehicle and it’s condition (required, not suggested for my protection), even though you were using my phone’s location. It also took me 20 minutes to drop off, cutting almost an hour and a half total out of my moving day. To be blunt, I hated my UHaul experience and will NEVER use it again. I will recommend to everyone to look at other options.

Linda LMy only complaint is that the inspections pictures of the van I rented weren’t even pictures Of the actual van I rented. Just some thing I think people should know to watch out for. Seems very likely someone might not realize that.

TRENT FThe return instructions tell you to drop the key first, but then ask you to take a bunch of pictures of the truck inside. Those should be changed so the key only drops at the very end.

Jordan MThere were computer problems that day, which made it so that I couldn't log into the app, and inside the store, it took about ten minutes of trying before I was able to pick up the truck. Then at return time, I figured I would pay the higher gas rate of $4/gal since I only used one gallon of gas, and didn't find out until waiting for five more minutes of computer glitches that there is a flat $30 service charge for returning the truck without refueling. Had to go drive to a gas station then come back, awkward park again, do the truck walkthrough again, and wait through five more minutes of computer sluggishness before I could check the vehicle back in. The attendant was apologetic and friendly, so that's the silver lining.
Paul FI recently rented a 16 foot truck from a competitor because they had a lift gate. I rented a 15 foot truck from U-Haul thinking it would be just 1 foot shorter, but because of the “Granny’s Attic” which is not too useful, the truck was actually a 12 foot truck and took 3 trips to do the job that could have been accomplished with two full loads. Just a little deceptive!
JERRY SProvide better service by upgrading your IT infrastructure, Applications, mobile Apps, better you train your IT team or replace them. One of the worst Customer Service as well. Horrible experience, never expected Uhaul to provide such a pathetic service
