The self checkout process was a nightmare. When I went to pick up the truck, the app did not have an option for me to pick it up. I had to do a live chat with a service tech for them to bump the "pick up my truck" feature to my account. The pick up process took an hour. When I went to return the truck, I was in the midst of taking photos of it when the app crashed and logged me out. When I logged back in, it showed that I had already returned the truck. I had not completed the return process and needed to do another live chat at 9pm while standing on a dark corner being eaten by mosquitos. Returning the truck took another 45 minutes. I will never do the self-pickup again because the app is horrendous.

The pick up process was a complete mess, my correct key was in the wrong box and I had to call UHaul and was transferred 3 times before I got to someone who could help me. The process of getting the correct key took an extra 30 minutes and set me back on moving considerably as the help I had paid for was only for a set time. Additionally when returning the vehicle and asking the employee about it she was extremely disrespectful. She did not take out her headphones at all for the duration of the conversation, only answered in short sentences like I was disturbing her, never once made eye contact, and was not at all apologetic about the issue. My experience with U-Haul was not at all what I expected and left me upset and unlikely to use the service again.

Personnel help was fine. My primary complaint is that we weren't able to sell back our unused boxes. In fact, most facilities we visited would not buy them back. So, the buyback guarantee doesn't have much value. If we visit a UHaul facility they should honor all UHaul policies, not just those that are convenient.
