SUSAN CI was really happy about the check in and pickup process. The woman at the desk was very friendly. The office location and building is very charming too. The rental return process was the polar opposite. The person who helped me was very rude, had attitude issues and basically made me do his job. I hope I never see him again. That said, very unlikely that I will use this location or Uhaul again. I’d rather pay a friend and borrow their truck.
ADITYA GCustomer service was horrible, acted as if I was bothering them to do there job. I will drive out of town to rent a truck, pay more for milage then EVER have to use this location again. It was the afternoon attendant that was just shitty, NO HELP. The person I picked the truck up from was 5 star all the way helped me all the way as this was my first time renting a truck and didn't understand the whole online thing. Never again from this location.

The van was backed against the wall, making it difficult to find the correct license plate. It was dark, so it was difficult to see the app and pictures that I took came out very dark. It was very cold, and I finally just pushed enough buttons to finalize it and get out of there. For that reason alone, for my next truck use I will see if there is somewhere else where I can rent.
CHRISTOPHER BI chose U-Haul over Home Depot because Home Depot was going to charge me by the hour and I did not want to feel rushed. While at the U-Haul location, the manager told me that as long as I brought the truck back before the close of business at 7:30 PM, I would be charged the one day rate. She then asked me when I thought I would be returning the truck. I said, probably around 5:30 PM. Well… I ended up returning the truck closer to 6:30 PM… thinking nothing of it! BUT…I ended up being charged extra because I kept the truck Overtime. What? This was the very reason I chose U-Haul over Home Depot. Home Depot would have been far less expensive And a more honest business dealing

COREY A1. Fix the mobile check-in. The past two times I’ve rented there’s been a problem when posting pictures of the truck that has added time and hassle. 2. The last truck I rented was subpar. The driver‘s door wouldn’t close unless you really slammed it. I was getting a message for a problem with the stabilitrak system. The gas gauge was also wildly inaccurate. When I got into the truck it read 3/4 and then at one point it read totally full And then another point it was almost full. Also, the driver seat was uncomfortable and appears to have been damaged at some point and repaired. Time to retire this truck.

And the access points and protocol of this specific location is even more difficult when people are trying to move. As a customer I shouldn’t have to memorize and swipe 3 different doors to carry heavy things in and out my unit durning the day or after hours. Plus checking out when I leave. And then we have the option to pay extra money for 24hrs of even less convenience. I don’t get it. This is the only storage facility that I haven’t been able to get in and out of with ease by myself. I understand security but this is too much. Moving is stressful enough. You literally have to maneuver around the whole facility no matter where your unit is.

MARK WStarr M. (Or whatever her name is, she had a ridiculous orange with and a hand cast) canceled my reservation without contacting me and I was actually dealing with an emergency prior to picking the truck. No humility, didn’t use proper grammar, forced me put an alternative contact which was unnecessary because I still her the wrong number so clearly she likes to keep herself busy doing unnecessary things to make individual lives harder. She either needs to be retrained and this review is only the beginning of how far I’m taking this.
Sophia ALocation was good and had a decent selection. However, it seemed understaffed. Upon arrival, there was nobody at the front desk. There is a small sign directing customers to hail an employee via a walkie talkie. This was unclear to multiple customers. The app is really the most efficient way to rent and return, but the processes for rental and return are misaligned vs the app. The location has a return station where they clean vehicles. If you want them parked elsewhere the app or location should provide better/clear directions

JAMES JOn the 23rd of November, in the morning I was moving out. I was talking to the manager . She was so rude to me . I pulled my phone from my pocket to check something . She asked me if I am recording her. I asked her what makes you believe I should be recording you? She wasn’t nice to me at all. I just wished her good luck. Accusing me of recording her without any proof.

Maximilian APick up was a breeze. The same girl I used on Sunday was great. Upon returning the van the girl working the counter had a bit of an attitude. Since I had one if my workers return the trunk on Sunday, I wasn’t sure of the procedure. I drove around Va I and followed all the sign and parked where it said stop. I brought my paperwork and key inside and she said well did you gave it checked it. I told her no one was there and I wasn’t sure what I needed to do. Not very helpful until I saw a gentleman outside who said he’d take care of it. I had my own business for 30 years and I took pride and made sure my employees always had great customer service skills. I really don’t tolerate or handle attitudes very well. Not a major attitude problem, but not very helpful even after I told her I’ve never done this before and didn’t know the return procedure.

Stuart W | Overall ExperienceMy experience renting a storage unit was positive. The complex was always clean and the staff are friendly and willing to help. The only bit of frustration I had was while I was moving out - apparently, the access door can’t be keyed to open without the use of the access card, even for a short while. This made it quite challenging for the movers I hired to come in and out as I needed to follow them around so I could key them back in. The move-out would’ve gone smoother had we been able to temporarily unlock the door so they didn’t need to wait for me to simply swipe my card again and again.

JODI CThe pickup process was okay. The woman who attended us was pretty nice and quick and explained everything politely. Returning the vehicle was a pain. It took us 15 minutes to try and figure out how to get the return process going through uh h our phones. The guy who was there at that time (Robert) was very rude and his verbal and physical language was not customer friendly. There was poor customer communication and the help was not there. Me and my spouse had to get very upset in order for him to actually find an alternative way to help us return the truck. Then he commented that there will be a fee of $20 for him doing it and helping us. This is not the type of service we expect to receive especially if we are customers providing the facility the support.
EMMANUEL CI lead a group of volunteers that furnishes apartments for families in need. We have rented trucks from UHaul Black Rock for three years, at least weekly and often more frequently. I have never had a bad experience with Charlene and her team. They are professional, courteous and patient. As new employees join her team, Charlene instills in them a ‘customer-first’ ethic that is clearly reflected in all of my interactions. Thank you Charlene, and team Black Rock!

COSBIE MI didn't feel comfortable uploading my photo and driver's license while renting the van. But I had to do it because I needed the vehicle. Please delete all of the photos I uploaded to your server. It is a bad idea to force every customer to upload photos in this AI era. I will never go back if I have to upload photos to rent a truck/van.
JIANCHUN HWell it's been 2 days and I still haven't received my refund for the truck. And yet they charges me the full $100 when my bill was only $61 and some change. So now with my busy schedule I'm going to have to make calls to uhaul again and to my bank..

The pickup experience was very easy and the van I rented was in clean, excellent condition and did everything that I expected and wanted it to do. This was a truly excellent rental experience. I wish that Hertz was this good when it came to renting cars.

DAVID HI reserved and confirmed my pick up. I was told verbally the day before the truck was ready and could be picked up anytime using the online check in and key lock box. I arrived around 7 AM, went through the check in process only to find the truck assigned to me was completely blocked in by others trucks. I spent well over an hour (mostly on hold) on the phone with zero resolution. The response was for me to sit and wait for two hours until the store opened. An employee arrived around 845 and loved the trucks for me. When I went to get the key from the lock box it did not open with the combination provided. Employee had to unlock with a key. Overall process was horrible, lack of resolution was horrible, customer service resolution via phone was horrible. Time spent on hold was excessive in the range of an hour. Absolutely unacceptable. I would expect a call back and some compensation for the experience. 203-912-9541.

CHRISTIAN AIssue is not with the location it is with the Uhaul App. I was using it to return a rental trailer and it took a full 35 minutes from start to finish to do it due to lag, glitching, etc. I had 5G full bar service on my 2 year old Android on a Saturday Morning. It took forever to load and update information between steps. I was unable to get timely help from the employee at the location as they had 2 customers with issues in line before me. When I interacted with the employees picking up the trailer they were helpful and pleasant. This is an issue with the App as UHaul mentioned I could be charged an additional fee if I received help from an Employee. Terrible customer service policy. It should have taken less than 5 minutes to get the trailer which had zero issues checked in when returned to the same location it was rented from.

JACQUeLINe FNo issues with the location. The place was nice and the people helpful . I'm sure this isn't the locations' fault, but I feel nickel and dimed on the mileage allowance. I drove in the lowest mileage route from the pickup across town to my move out (towards my destination), to my destination (pulling into a gas station en route) and then to the drop off and was charged for 3 extra miles. You should include a fair allowance with a reasonable buffer. It isn't the $3 that cost you a future customer, it is your approach. If your company takes this approach with your customers... Also, the drop off system you provide your staff is clunky.

PATRICIA WLocation is accusing me of damaging the vehicle when no damage was caused. Since the app crashes every time a customer is performing self check in and checkout, pictures only work part of the time. They are clearly running a scam on customers that choose to waive the $16/day damage insurance. Guaranty there is a correlation with “incidents” and people who waive coverage. I will be reporting the location more formally.

mulenga gI settled out my unit, upon moving out I saw my Tv wasn’t in there. I instantly called several times as I was still in the area and they don’t close until 7:30/8 on the5th of this month. I left a message with dispatch I spoke with manager Charlene she said I should have called the police while I was there, I told her there were cameras I’ve only been in the unit once when I dropped it off and when I came to clear it out. The only other people who had access to my unit was the EMPLOYEES. She gave me Patrick’s number who didn’t reach out. I need this resolved ASAP as this isn’t acceptable for someone to steal my belongings and nothing me done about it and the manger was no help

I went to Black rock UHaul. Charlene told me “not all the computers are down” She had no trucks available so I went back to Pine St U-Haul. I had to argue with the staff to try all their computers to see if one worked. They told me all computers were down nationwide. After insisting - they tried and one computer worked. I felt the staff was really dissaponted that the computer was actually functiong - and they had to work! If I hadn’t gone to talk to Charlene on Black Rock - I don’t know if Pine Street would have ever called me to tell me they could fulfill my reservation. When I did get someone to open my reservation on Pine St - she was incapable of completing the reservation. An employee still seated shouted information to help her with my reservation. Finally, she reluctantly got up to help the person that was attempting to rent me my reserved truck. My 10:30 reservation was completed more like 11:30. Worst customer experience ever. No one even bothered to say “sorry” for the inconvenience. Any one reading this review - do yourself a favor - go to the Black Rock office. Charlene runs a tight ship. You’ll get good service!

I got stuck in the elevator once and feared nobody would have heard me despite pressing the emergency bell. Eventually, the elevator was back in service. Easy move-out process.

HAROLD B | First ImpressionsThe lack of a ramp to get flatbeds down tocar level made the loading unloading effort very difficult. Loading dock is also not appropriate for vans or pick up trucks. Female attendant on duty on july 19 was very rude and with an attitude. We complained to the assistant manager who was very understanding and friendly. He also agreed that she had a problem and was going to mention it to his manager. The process and requirements to rent a truck was beyond complicated and scary: worse than going through customs or immigration when entering the USA. We have rented cars and trucks all over and internationally and have never encountered a similar experience. You are made to feel like a crook or a criminal. Not good customer service. At all.

Peter K | Online Move InThe floors are like an off-road course,the elevator is way too small,needs a freight elevator really bad,the lights kept going off every couple of mins,there was never any paper towels in the restroom and the threshold coming off the elevator and especially the one for the outside door are a real pain in the butt and my unit was pretty much on the other side of the building way down in the dungeon,other than that, it was great,oh and the carts need brakes really bad too,especially the mattress carts,trying to get a mattress on one of those is a real chore,oh and now they come with the “cleaning fee increase in rent by $7.00/month,not during the height of covid but a year later,which is exactly the thing that made me move out,and nothing, I mean nothing is free,sorry to sound so whiny but y’all asked for my comments.

I went to one UHaul in Bridgeport and they could not assist with tranfer to the correct location of UHaul in Bridgeport. With a family member we had to travel a long distance and go to UHaul at least twice to be able to get in to the unit as the covering employee had not been informed how to handle the situation. It was a rough start, but no problems as the time continued. I, nevertheless, would choose to go to this UHaul again, now being familiar with their set up
