The Uhaul trucks really should be filled with gas before given to the customer because it is hard to see how much gas I need to put in the car. The fuel gauge is very small and it is hard to see, if the car was rented out at full then I would just need to refill it to full and then it would auto stop. I put probably 10$ of extra gas in the truck that i didn't use.

I started my return asa mobile return, the associate on hand offered to help and I explained I did not receive the dolly I ordered and so was not going to pay for it. I ahd already started a dispute in the app. He said he would take of removing the charge. We followed him inside where he told me the charges, I said that amount included the dolly I did not receive, he said it did not so I trusted him. Later I received the email receipt showing a charge for the dolly. I should have stuck to the mobile app.

The agent at the front desk taking care of our reservation was extremely helpful, professional and courteous. However, it wasn't until after booking and paying for the trailer, that when he took us out to the unit, they did not have the proper adaptor in stock for our hook-up. (The adaptor we had for our camper also would not work on their pull trailer.) So we were sent to another U-Haul dealer down the road to purchase the adaptor. That dealer told us the original dealer should have had that adaptor in stock. (So, I suggest that you have them check your vehicle first before booking in person, or just rent from the other dealer!) We were sent to the alternate dealer on a Friday night in rush hour traffic on an extremely busy main road to get this adaptor. Once we returned to the booking location with the adaptor, a different agent was sent to hook up our trailer. The trailer lights would not work, but our truck lights worked. He said the problem was with our truck, and wanted to send us back down that busy road to an AutoZone to get a fuse. He was very condescending, and could care less that we had just been sent on a trip to get an adaptor that they should have had in stock to begin with. When I called him on his attitude, be backstepped and said to pull up by the office doors, that they may have a fuse in stock. Low and behold, he had a fuse, put it in, and we went on our way. Because of the unprofessional attitude of the agent assisting with the hook-up of the trailer, and for the lack of items in stock that they should have had, I have to rate this location below average. Firstly, they should make sure they have the adaptors available before booking and completing a reservation in person. Secondly, they should have their worker run to pick up the adaptor from their sister store, not the customer. Thirdly, the agent assisting with the hook-up, and discovering the lack of trailer lights working, should have gotten the fuse from the office to begin with to take care of the problem with the trailer. The location is a beautiful new location, the trailer was clean and handled perfectly on the highway for a 3-day travel trip.

The U-Haul facility in Modesto on McHenry were absolutely the best U-Haul have done business with. I am an older lady with disabilities and had a pretty long and tough move to the area from a different state. They were so very kind and compassionate with me as I was dead tired and worn out. They went beyond and above to help and accommodate me. Definitely give U-Haul a good name, they are an asset to the brand.

Active fruit fly and rodent infestation. Rodent feces in the unit and on staircase. Elevator was out of service. Homeless people roam around at all hours. Units are not secure and could be EASILY CLIMBED INTO alarm system malfunctioned frequently and is INSANELY LOUD. Was there to use free months given as compensation after a truck was rented from UHaul and had not been cleaned and had drugs and paraphernalia in it. Was supposed to be 3 months free we got 30 days and they refused to allow us to use the other 2 and sent a bill for nearly $200. I FEEL SCAMMED. There were multiple times no one was in the office during business hours. They do not answer the phone it redirects to uhaul corporate. 0/10.

I am 71 y/o and the hitch on the trailer I rented is too heavy to lift easily. The girl working there asked me to lift hitch because she couldn't lift it. So I had to do it. I could but not easily. Also she said when I bring the trailer back to unhitch and come into the office. I had to just drop the the front of the trailer on the ground because of the weight. Uhaul needs someone on site strong enough to attach the trailer.

One of your associates was talking and socialize with a group of transients and having them do his work for him, no big deal. As I was starting to take a picture of the truck, one of them approached me from behind and said "I'm just trying to rap, insane clown posse" to which I asked "what?" and he repeated him self looking back at your associate like he told him to come up to me and tell me he was gang related. They call them selves the juggalos. This place is really unsafe and if there is any break ins on the storage units, you can go ahead and talk to this associate. White male, black hair, black beard, heavy set. Was working at 10AM on 2/9/25. You see him speak with me when I went to unlock the key from the lock box around 10AM.

Such an amazing storage location. The staff is always incredibly helpful and nice! The location is super clean as well. Best experience m my family and I have ever had with a U-Haul if I’m being completely honest. We just moved out of our storage unit as we got a new home, but I would love to come back to this location in the future. Management and staff is great!

The trailer I was pulling had a strap that was cut off and I improvised with a ratchet strap that I purchased when I brought the trailer back. Mike handled the situation very well reimburse me $10 and was very accommodating. It was a really good experience.

I had the worst experience as a first time rental, I had put in my request for a rental almost 2 weeks before having to move, I request a 15" truck I received a call 2 days later stated that the area I lived in didn't have any 15" but had a 20" truck, even though the website stated it did, I obviously need a truck rental so I took the 20" truck which was more of a cost then I wanted, I request 2 dolly's as well and was given the amount I would have to pay for the bigger truck and dolly's, so a week goes by and 2 days before our moving date I receive another call that now the 20" truck is not available in my location but is 30miles away, obviously I'm a little upset because I reserved the 20" truck that was in the town I currently live and to find out I know have to drive 30 mins to pick it up at a different location is not ideal since I had reserved it to be in my town, I have no other choice two days before moving but to except the changes. My husband goes the day of the rental and now is being told a completely different amount, so by now I'm pretty upset, not only did they not have the rental in my current town which I was told would be put now I'm having to pay a higher price, I speak to young lady so she can try to 3xplain to me why all of these changes ate happing on my reservation I'm obviously upset so she just passes the phone without telling me to her manager and at no point did the manager try to make this transaction easy or offer some type of discount or mileage. I have been a operation manager for 14 years, so I am well aware that even if the customer is completely wrong in a situation you should attempt to ease them my offering some type of compensation maybe take a $17 dolly fee out??? Something to make up for all the movement they had to do but wasn't the customers doing.

Be better aware of there available unites they told me they had no ground level avail.and the elevator was broken but would be fixed the next day come to find out it had been down over a month already and my unit just had a couple stairs which turned out to be 2 flights of stairs and there was no way i could get my stuff up there I'm disabled i called corporate an they told me there were2 avail. This facility is a two-story facility and almost every time I went to remove something from the facility. The elevator was broke down, and I had to carry it downstairs, which was a pain in the rear so at least five or six times while I was out this facility, the elevator was broken. Even the day I moved the rest of my stuff out and had heavy items. The elevator was broke and I had to move them downstairs so I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone.

The elevator was out of order. People had go up the stairs and bring down 1 item at a time. If that had been me , I would have sued your company. To bring down a 3 bedroom house 1 piece at a time, is ridiculous. It would take hours and perhaps injury. You should have had people there to help these poor people. I was lucky, I was on the bottom floor.

Of all my rental experiences; UHaul, Enterprise, Penske, Budget; none have come close to the amazing experience Mikey gave us today. NEVER have I met someone with such knowledge, compassion, or care for the brand they represent, but Mikeys passion for everything UHaul, and knowledge thereof, on the spot, made me smile and happy to have him assist us. Mikey went above and beyond to make sure my fears where set aside from my last UHaul experience and even did a walk around with me pointing out every minor detail of the van I rented. From the belts and hoses and fluid levels with me; me being an extrucker and pretriping of course; to the strap hooks in the van and the rubber may, Mikey was amazing. Will definitely use his UHaul services again. Thank you UHaul, for hiring such an amazing person for your company. Mikey is a credit to the rental industry and the best. I'll never use any other UHaul services unless through him. KEEP HIM FOREVER!!!

I rented their uhaul and they offered me a storage rental for one month free of charge, which I took advantage of. Months later I needed to rent a uhaul for the second time. There is one big flaw with this storage facility, and it is not the fault of any of the helpful employees. It's the elevator. The elevator is too small, making it very difficult to move cargo up to the second floor.

The crew working here was above & by far the best help I've ever received from a self storage facility. The manager knew I had a lot of work ahead of me and insisted on helping me get two heavy racks up to my rental space. He checked periodically to see if there was any way he could help us & was not afraid to pitch in. The staff was patient polite & maintained professional at all times. The elevator in the storage building was broken when I was unloading my moving truck (my first time using my storage unit). There is only one elevator. My storage init was on the second floor, but the manager, Mikey, responded quickly when I had to contact him after hours regarding the broken elevator. He accommodated us by setting us up with a unit on the first floor instead. This was a perfect solution. I was very pleased.

the elevator is a joke, barely able to maneuver carts into elevator. the facility is not secured due to homeless, vagrants, and degenerates that can enter at will thru automatic sliding doors, which in the short time we were there seen plenty of them come and go as they please to use bathroom facility designated for paying customers and who knows what other activity is ensued by these individuals. have to point out that overall staff interactions where great and despite everybody having access, it is overall a very clean establishment.

I give a 5 Star shout-out to Tevin & Mikey. However I am very disappointed with the afternoon shift girl dirty blonde hair. From the 2-3 times I have came in contact with her she has been super rude and you could just see the disgust & irritation within her whole attitude and demeanor. Not to mention the first day I had got a storage unit Tevin was very patient and helpful in finding the right size unit I thought I needed. Unfortunately, when finally getting around to unloading into storage I realized the unit was going to be just a little too small so I had went to the office hoping to quickly & easily get storage unit switched out for a bigger one well when coming into the office I realized there was NO ONE at the front counter nowhere to be found not to mention 2-3 customers that had been complaining about waiting for a long time ended up just leaving instead waiting hoping to find an associate that would actually like to have a job there let alone even work period. After waiting about 30 mins I finally had got help with getting a bigger unit only after having to walk around the whole storage unit & parking lot looking for an associate to help me. I really don't appreciate her attitude for I would love to be able to have a position like hers yet it has been tough when it comes to finding a good job nowadays. So I would greatly appreciate it if she could at least straighten up her attitude and at least ACT like she likes and appreciates her position within your company because if she could not I would gladly love to work that position for her so that I could actually show her what true customer service looks like. Dylan was amazing with helping me return my auto transport and getting my storage set up. He walked me through everything and showed me all the ways to access and keep my and my things safe. Upon return of my truck Mike and Payton were super helpful. They made my experience a breeze and answered all of my questions. Payton also helped me close out my storage that I didn't end up using! Great facility and people were on point!! Highly recommend and would absolutely use them again!!!

The hours of access were changed by the individual location and they did not notify me. Online, in Google and even in the Uhaul App it shows access times from 5 am-10 pm. I arrived at 8 pm with a 26’ moving truck after driving 25 miles and having 2 hired guys to help me move in. When I put in my access code I was given, I was denied access. I called the 24 hour number and they couldn’t help me and then they transferred me to someone else and they were unable to reach the sight manager. So I wasted 2 hours of my time, costing me an extra day of truck rental, $50 in extra fuel plus $200 labor charges, and having to take the following day off of work to not be able to even get the job done and my stuff unloaded. I was told to call in the morning when the office at the facility opened and speak with the manager at that location. I called at 7 am and was told that the manager wasn’t in and they would call me back. However, when Mike did call me back he had a sarcastic tone saying that I should have called them to confirm and “you call your doctors office to confirm”. He had a bad attitude when I asking for some type of compensation (a free month) for all the hassle and financial burden ($500) that their change of hours caused me. I also noticed that their elevator is broken and out of service, yet they gave me a second story unit and was told I can take the stairs. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior and should not be tolerated. I cancelled my reservation and found better storage with better customer service elsewhere.

The elevator to the second level needs to be larger because you can barely even fit the carts without having anything on them and when loaded it’s almost impossible. I had a refrigerator that I could not even get in the elevator to put in my storage and some of my dressers had to go up the badly U-shaped stairs.
