Great location. Needed a few more staff to assist with equipment turn in. One staff member at 9:30 am trying to issue equipment and do turn in's was creating a back log.

JENNY SThe sign for rental returns instructs drivers to wait for someone to come out to check them in. I had to go in to get service. If you want drivers to wait for help, I would suggest either installing a monitoring mechanism to let staff know when their attention is needed outside or post someone to monitor the status of the returns area on some kind of timely schedule.
TIMOTHY HPretty easy after hours process as we’re seniors. No people to rate, but the area was tidy & we eventually figured out what we were doing to check our truck in. Thankful to uhaul to do after hours & getting us to Ankeny safely! Blessings & thank you!

MARTHA F | Overall ExperienceWhen people buy & sell a home, they have to be completely moved out of their current house by the time they move now. We had to do a 2 day rental to have time to load, close on both houses, and unload at the new house. We couldn’t have done it in 24 hrs. When we got to the location to pick up, there was an issue with 2 days because it was a close move & not longer timeframe. They save the big trucks for longer moves. A smaller truck wasn’t possible when we had to be completely out of our house - no option for a couple trips. The ppl making the reservations need to be in line with this ridiculous policy as I had no issue making the reservation to only have to get corporate approval to have it longer than 24 hrs. We rushed as much as possible and returned it in approx 26 hrs but of course still charged for 2 full days. Get on the same page!

I don't know what kind of scam was going on but uhaul wasn't getting me with it.

Tylor KTank wasn’t full when I picked up the truck, and I had to get the tank full in order to return it. Had ordered 2 mattresses bags, but because the system wasn’t working, the clerk refused to sell me the bags. A hassle.
ROSIANE LWhen I returned my rental on Saturday evening at 6:30 pm the 2 employees just sat there and didn’t check me in. It was checked in the next morning at 9:30 am. I got a bill for $25 in gas when I had just filled the truck up and had the receipt and the mpg matched the rating of the truck and how far I had driven. This location has LIARS and THIEVES! Do not return your vehicle here!
CHRISTINA SI have used U-Haul several times and it is never a smooth or memorable experience. Maybe in an industry where people just readily come to you, it makes you complacent. Employees just really don't give a slip. What really irked me this time was I came in to reserve a tow dolly. Time was of the essence in this situation and wanted to depart ASAP Sunday afternoon. I reserved the Tow Dolly, took almost 15 minutes. Asked if they needed a credit card, no. And then other details came out Sunday afternoon they should have asked for. Also, I repeated information Sunday afternoon I had previously supplied. So, I expected to just hook up the Tow Dolly and leave, Nope, another full 20 minutes to fill out the paperwork, and the guy helping me was in NO HURRY Whatsoever, ARGH! Returning the Dolly was another slip me off moment. Never told me to return it to a specific place, so I went to the wrong store. The return equipment lane said to stay with the vehicle and an attendant would come out. Waited 10 minutes, while 2 additional vehicles arrived to return their vehicles. As I started walking up to the building, the attendant locked the doors and went home for the day??? Thanks U-Haul, I'm going to make the effort to find another resource next time.
GRANT BDropped off on 3/15 with the help of an employee. Suppose to receive a receipt in 15 minutes. Today, I called for a second time, end up at main call center with Kevin who was able to get me a receipt. Unimpressed with Ankeny ops to finalize this rental on the same day or in 2 days and get me a receipt.

FERNANDO QWe did not have the option of dropping off the Truck in the town we lived in which there was a U-Haul dealer within 2 miles of our home we had to drive it 20 extra miles and were charged the extra mileage I don't think that was fair
RONALD TThe digital method of documenting prior damage to the rental vehicle was cumbersome in its design and difficult to accomplish. It also required a smartphone, which not every customer will have. You should provide an alternative method.
MICHAEL RYour one employee working was great. But it as a shame to myself and the two others in line waiting for him as he hooked up a trailer for another customer. The three of us inside were appalled at the lack of safety for your one employee there and all felt another person should have been working with him. Not for us to be serviced quicker but the main sense of security in a large building. I also wasn’t sure how I was hands free pick up and still had to wait for the worker to hand me my keys. My expectation was that the key would be in a box and no waiting at all needed. Otherwise location was organized and stocked and clean.
Michael KI had zero issue with the staff or equipment. Pedro was very nice getting the trailer arranged and hooked up to my Jeep. I called customer service to extend my time another 2 hours and they were very accommodating and quick. I returned the trailer an hour early and I wasn't charged for the extra 2 hours. I will definitely use Ankeny U-Haul again!

I called ahead and spoke to Luke and told him we were on our way. I asked him if we would still be able to get the extra day credited. He said yes and that my husband just needs to ask for him. We were about 35 minutes late

There was a small wait because he was helping a gentleman that had called before they opened! He was extremely empathetic to my situation and completely turned my experience around. I think he also mentioned it was only his second week, props to him. Give that man a raise.
