Very disappointed with Belmont U-Haul. I rented a truck in feb24 of 2024 and returned the truck and U-Haul told me they closed out the account. Then a year later there threading to ruin my credit after I paid cash for the rental telling me I didn’t pay for the rental. A year later there claiming they didn’t get the money and they never closed out the account. Is this how U-Haul gets more money out of there customers?

had a very hard time returning the vehicle, the app did not work and took me about an hour to do the return through the app. also the locations need better signs to where we should drop the keys.

The van was full of dog hair and had an unbearable smell and this is the second time I have rented a vehicle with a bad smell, the first time it smelled like cigarettes!

Staff were very helpful and polite. The truck however needs an alignment as it pulls to the right quite bad. A message also came up on the dash that it's oil life is at 0%. There's a vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds as well. I would have been stressed to haul long distance with this vehicle.

I rented a trailer to carry a car I bought, I went to pick it up in another state and when I got there, the belts on both sides were broken, it was a huge disappointment, in total it was 12 hours of driving and I couldn't bring my car, I arrived at the store and they didn't give a damn about the situation, the employees and manager were unprepared and couldn't serve me well.

When I checked-in the representative was rude and exuded attitude that he didn't want to be there and couldn't care less about me. Also I was unsure of his competence. Despite having reservation for truck with maximum insurance, he tried to complete my transaction with only standard insurance. When I asked him if he saw my insurance selection in the computer system, he never gave me an answer. He never repeated back to me what insurance I was selecting. Later he described where I would find the truck in the yard. The truck was not where he described, or at least not as I understood it. When I found the truck, the front windshield was cracked on upper left corner with blue tape on it and running down the windshield. Also, the back end was open (seemed odd to me). I closed the back and and drove the truck to the front door, and went back in and told him about the windshield issue and asked him if that was already in the truck record. He said no and said he'd add it in. I believed him on that point as he didn't doubt what I was saying about the windshield and he didn't come out to see. The location and truck availability of this Belmont u-haul is great. However, the service is always mediocre at best. This time it was poor. The big u-haul in Redwood City has FAR FAR better service, but that location is further for me. Nevertheless, I much prefer using that location.

Gonzalo should not work there. He created a contract that had FOUR CRITICAL ERRORS: DL Expiration date. Emergency contact address misspell. My billing address. (None of the young men knew what a mailbox versus a house was). He said that I had some bogus WORK phone number. I then had to return and coddle him to do his job. He doesn't know how to use the computer program and I would NEVER let him hook a trailer up.

Spent over an hour trying to into the storage unit. Ended up getting 2 units by mistake and spending an extra $268. I was told they cant issue the refund and i have to come in person to talk to the manager tomorrow morning.

I was quoted one price which was also on the display board behind the counter but I was charged a higher rate for my storage unit. The desk associates could not override that $amount and when we spoke to the manager, he said he would not honor the in person quote nor the posted amount on the display board. BAD costume service!

Staff is a group of kids who doesn’t seem to give a crap about customer service , Every time i went into office to talk about a bill etc ; information was out in the computer wrong , I was also charged a late fee without any email or call , (which they finally got right in file the third visit i had in two years ) until it was already charged , not knowing that my card had declined the day of my bill . We purchased locks from u-haul for the storage unit that suddenly got jammed one day and stopped working. We did not get any help from the u-haul staff and had to arrange a locksmith to break the lock and get new ones.

The cleanest and nicest storage facility I have been to. Staff is friendly. Parking can get tricky and if you don’t pay attention, you could get blocked in at the loading ramp due to truck drop offs. Just be aware.

It was almost impossible to get ahold of a actual person onsite. I closed out my unit with a rep on the 1800 number. Was explained the $40 fee for not turning the access card in to the office. But still had to call a second time because I got a bill emailed to me for the charges for the next month.

I did all my original reservations on line. I signed up for the truck and storage unit. I have never rented a storage unit before and didn’t live in the area so I relied on the people making the reservations advise me on the size of the unit and any important information, like closing time. Issues that happened: we arrived to unload the I haul truck at 2 minutes to 5 and they said they were closing and couldn’t stay to do the paperwork since it was our first time to use the storage unit, no one told me that and we could have done the paperwork for the storage unit at the time we picked up the truck, but he never mentioned it. We then had to find a place to laid the filled truck because he wouldn’t even let us park it there. We then had to hire back the people that we had hired to unload the truck for the next day. The next day when we came back, they didn’t have the storage unit so reserved available, they rented it out since I made the reservation. They did find another one for us, unfortunately it was too small and I asked the person I made the reservation with what size they recommended for a one bedroom worth of furniture and boxes, I had no idea. It all fit in the truck I rented so i didn’t question the size of the unit she recommended, but the contents wouldn’t fit so they had to get me another one which was I’ve $100 more. To their credit, they are giving us the first month free for the inconvenience, but this was a very frustrating experience that could have been avoided with better communication on their part.

I needed a storage space. Only 2nd floor units were available and no elevator. I would have had to carry everything (too heavy) up a narrow cement staircase. Not acceptable.

When I complained that the elevator wasn't working in the storage facility and asked what I should do as I had big things to move your representative stated and I quote "that's your problem". I will never use UHaul and I have told that story to everyone who would listen.

On one visit, the elevator was not functioning, requiring approximately one hour to address. On another visit the loading dock was blocked for about one hour. Cost to me about $300 total.
