Stopped by police because brake lights were out. Needed my phone for navigation but power outlets weren’t working. Sticky crud on steering wheel, otherwise truck was OK.

The GMC vans are a huge step backward from the Ford Transit vans. They are much more fiddley - non-power rear view mirrors (right hand one is a major pain), locking system is not intuitive, and it doesn't ride as well or handle as well. Driver door had to be slammed shut. The list goes on.

Awful experience!! The pickup location was being illegally under construction and not staffed by a U-Haul representative. Was redirected to another location. U-Haul said they would credit me $50 for the inconvenience, and someone would call me within 2 days. No one has called or email as directed. Awful. Truly awful.

they charged full extra day for being 10 minutes late. I had to call main office to resolve issue. Thank you customer service at the main office.

I used the truck only for 10 miles. I returned without adding gas accepting the $4.75/gallon rate. However the guy charged me $25 for gas. Can someone please explain to me how is it possible to spend 5 gallon within 10 miles?

I have used U-Haul many many times, including multiple states. The Belmont location is by far the best. I have ever used. The entire crew is great, but i want to give a big shout out to Ericka for always having a smile on her face, and her knowledge of all the equipment. She’s great!

The trailer was in good condition but the inside floor was not really clean and slippery and trailer smelled chemically. I had to use a tarp on floor.

U-Haul needs to seriously rethink their online booking process. I received an e-mail with a "Confirmed" order showing the trailer and address. About an hour later another e-mail provided what looked at a glance to be the same information, but I didn't realize the address had changed and I was not assigned my chosen (or "preferred" address). I showed up at the wrong location as a result. I would highly encourage U-Haul to improve communication around bookings -- especially when the address is changed for the reservation.

I rented a van to clear out the storage space at this U-Haul location. I was trapped in the freight elevator for 15 minutes. I could not get any help by pressing the alarm button or the call button. I called this location on my mobile phone and wound up getting someone in another location. They were unable to get help for me. Finally I started yelling "Help!" and another customer had to get help. The person in charge (who was the only U-Haul employee there) just shrugged his shoulders. He didn't seem to care. His excuse: "I am alone right now." Pathetic.

I did not make a reservation at Belmont but unfortunately had to go there because my guaranteed truck reservation at Mountain View, CA was not actually there. I then had to take a ln Uber to the new location where I picked up the truck for a one-way return in San Francisco. I picked the truck up at 5:15. There was no indication at this time that returning the truck 24 hours later in San Francisco would be a problem. When I arrived at the San Francisco location at 5:15pm, they were closed and did not accept late drop offs (location closed at 5pm). I then had to keep the truck overnight in San Francisco and drop it off the next morning at 7am when they opened. I was charged $40 for keeping the truck an extra day and was late for work on top of it as I usually get to in Palo Alto at 7am. I then had to take another Uber from the Uhaul as I could it afford to be even more late by taking public transportation. Uhaul was a total headache and ended up costing me an extra $150 in fees and unecessary Uber rides. My friends are moving this week and with my experience at Uhaul they are very skeptical of using Uhaul.

I was overcharged for 150 miles at $1.39, that I did not drive. I will never use haul again. That's horrible that they could do that. It cost me an additional $200. I will tell everyone I know about this.

The online express checkout didn't work, rep had to re-enter everything. So I don't have a whole lot of faith in trying that feature again nor would I recommend anyone else to use it. The van's fuel gauge also seemed stuck, when trying to refuel I was unable to really get that needle moving, requiring multiple incremental fills until suddenly it unstuck and showed that I ended up putting in 1/4 tank over the needed amount.
