Keep your promise of reservations . Stop with the shell game of doing what's best for store and do what is promised to the customer. Reserved 15' truck in Columbus at E. 5th Ave site a 10 days in advance, 2 days before the pick up I received notification that my reservation was switched to 1100 Alum Creek due to the availability of the 15' truck. when I arrived to pickup they let me know that they had no 15' trucks and that my reservation was for a 26'. I showed owner / manager Justin, the email reservation confirmation for a 15' that Uhaul sent me in an text.Justin then explained that the 10' I had been promised by his employee was not available as 1 way and I could get a 20' from location 8.3 miles away. I asked if I could just have the 10' truck, he stated it was for another customer and it was not 1 way. I asked if he could arrange for another truck for the the other customer and he said " What you think that person doesn't deserve a truck?" Ridiculous claim that he used. He realized I had reserved the truck 10 days prior and that the gentleman he was talking about did his the day before, so he gave me the 10' truck, but not before a 20 min check in process because the system supposedly crashed. Finally he directed me to find truck in back of building and it was not there but right up front. I believe he knew where it was.

CORY BNo one discussed drop off location with me either. We had already rented a storage unit and were hoping to drop off the truck at the same location. I was informed by an email on the way there that I was assigned a different drop off location miles away. I called to change drop off locations and neither the UHaul agent nor the truck share agent could help me. They said I need to talk to scheduling, and that scheduling is closed. The truck share agent was rude. He said I needed to drop it off at the assigned location or call in the morning to change locations. We had a long day of moving and I just wanted to be done and drop off the truck, I absolutely did not want to stretch it into the next day, when I had other plans. How it is possible that renting a truck from you guys can be so difficult? Why did no one call me to discuss times and locations? How can communication be so poor? How can your app and staff be so unhelpful?

Some things to consider though: 1. add light to larger (10x10 and bigger) units; 2. allow use of staircase; 3. a few more carts would go a long way since some people grab all of them; 4. rearrange bollards because if you stay between the lines on the center load spot that bollard is right in the way and prevents use of ramp on uhaul trucks.

JEFFREY HThis was my first experience with U Haul and unfortunately, it will be my last. The person who helped me make the reservation, named Jonny, was incredibly helpful and positive. I felt really good about renting the truck for my nephew and niece from U-Haul. At the end of the rental, when I found there were additional charges, my nephew inquired and told me the manager he spoke with got upset with him. Since I was paying for the rental, I wanted further clarity on the charges, and I went to the rental location near Bexley to speak in person. There was a very professional woman working there, and she remained calm and helped work through my questions with me. There was also a manager there named Justin(he made sure I knew his name) who kept interrupting my conversation with her , and was trying his best to escalate a situation that his competent employee had under control. Maybe that location has had issues and you need your managers to be unpleasant to protect employees from customers. Or perhaps corporate does not value relationships and service. Either way, I was told by my neighbors that Home Depot is very customer focused, so I will try them next. Thank you for allowing me to share my viewpoint.

ERIC SPick up service was good and helpful. Drop off during business hours was as if it was self serve even though I was using the app to finish my return. I when inside and the check out desk is blocked by display boxes and unless someone is taking you can't find the counter.
Charles MThis location should be more prepared when someone has a rental time coming up. Since this location was not prepared I got charged for things I’ve never gotten charged for such as gas. When checking in the switched me trucks after I already did the online check in. They gave me a truck with no gas in it what so ever & then are now trying to charge me for 8 gallons of gas. I have rented u hauls for years and never had an issue. I’m not sure who management is at this location but they need to be more aware.

BART SI filled out info for mobile pickup. After I completed everything the app told me all I need do is get the key.. Two workers inside when I arrived at assigned time. They acted like they weren't expecting me. I showed them my phone info shevhad to dig for my key and be told what equipment I rented . They evidently failed to put in truck. I waited briefly but still had to wait for them to get from the back. I've rented from here several times.and not once have I received a warm greeting but instead have to look around to behind plexiglass wall on top of counter to see which window might be open. I had a terrible experience with my 1st truck rental a month ago. Someone needs to call for details. My hand is hurting from typing more. Customer service is 1 star
Kenneth PWhen my husband picked up the truck it hardly had no gas. But was told we need to fill it up. My husband gave it back the same way it was given. So they charged us. When he spoke to someone at this location, he was told he would get a refund. However, he didn't. They charged us more and took our deposit. This was the first time this Uhaul did this too us. We are very disappointed.

Theja kThe truck contained candy and food wrappers in the cargo area. No window washer fluid was in the reservoir making it difficult to see while driving. The truck shook and rattled going down the road not even at the legal speed limit. I wish I had noise canceling head set on during the drive!!

The only drawback was the storage facility elevator broke down and made it difficult to get my items into 2nd floor unit. The staff quickly came over to give us access to the stairs. Thank you and I would definitely recommend this location to others.

I made a comment about them standing there, the response "she got it" The manager walked out to go home for the day and didn't say anything to the men either.

Towan P | Overall ExperienceNo issues with the equipment itself. Concerns with the costumer service / lack of knowledge from employees. I was told by an employee that I could change the drop off time from 11:30 to 2:30 and this was confirmed the day that I picked the uhaul up. Yet, this was not reflected on my account nor was it allowed, apparently. So I was lied to and thought it was okay to return the uhaul at 2:30. I returned it at EXACTLY 2:30 in perfect shape and even used less miles than originally planned. But yet uhaul is making me pay additional charges due to "returning the uhaul late" (I turned it in the time I changed it too, which I was told I could) and a "late payment charge". I was never contacted via phone to tell me there was additional charges and only knew about them when uhaul tried to take money from my account without permission. I explained all of this to them and they are still charging me for a mistake that their employee made by telling me I could change the drop off time. Absolutely terrible costumer service and charging their customers unnecessary fees.

RYAN BThe condition of the trailer was terrible. Both of the straps to secure the car were torn and I was really worried the whole trip they would break. One was torn more than 50% through and this never should have been rented to me.
MICHAEL GI was trying to pick up the truck through the app but I advise going in if the store is open at pick up. The guy at the counter was super efficient and easy going. Made it easy. Truck was clean but a worn old beast it was. I was just running a few miles so wasn't an issue but I would keep that truck close. Had an issue with the fuel not being recorded properly on getting the truck but I took a picture and submitted it and I was given a credit so it all worked out in my favor at the end of the weekend. I always move with Uhaul.

SHARON MGrateful to the employees at this location for saving me on the day of an international move. The employees at 5th Ave Uhaul apparently just didn't show up to open the store at 7AM like they were supposed to so I wasn't able to get my truck at 7:30AM, with moving helpers waiting at my house, but thankfully the Alum Creek location had a truck and were able to get us up and running quickly. In the end we were still 30 minutes late getting started, but it would have been so much worse if the employees here weren't so efficient. We rented a 26' truck and it worked great for our international move. I would not say that the cab could fit three people comfortably like it claims on the site, but for two it was just fine.

As apart of this process we had to move a lot of equipment thus we used the Alum Creek Location U-Haul Central. I must say that Mrs. Dee and her team of service providers were there right at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning to make sure that our team had everything that was needed to make the event amazing. So keep on doing amazing things, I was totally pleased from start to finish with the service that I received. Thanks so much -Dr. G Principal Central High School, Columbus, Ohio.

I made my payment for April on 3/27/2024 and the manager the (lady) didn't process the payment so I was charged a late fee and a extra $10.00, this is when I decided to findr me another storage unit somewhere else and I did. I had a funeral to attend and couldn't get into my until the next morning and the doors was still not working, many people told them about this and nothing was done. I had to go to the office and them it's not working. The lady with the shaved haircut help me right away. I want to THANK HER!! and the assistant manager (white man)

You guys charge for not having a secured lock, even though U-Haul is covered legally through the lease agreement for stolen property. That’s over extending your hand and taking money away from people and it’s wrong and you need to stop. I think notifications are fine but don’t violate renters rights to leave it unlocked. The White guy at the Bexely location in Columbus, Ohio is a phenomenal employee and I’d love to see him get a raise. He was polite, explained things thoroughly and even helped me when he could have otherwise penalized me. He was a charm and the best part of my experience with U-Haul. Reward him please

My initial reservation was cancelled without notification or explanation. The text I got from uHaul were deleted from my inbox without my permission, and no explanatiin given for that either. Also, I was given a wrong unit. Good thing I didn't move all my stuff in before I noticed, because I have a lot and that could have taken awhile. I had to present ID in person since the access codes i was given didnt work so, I had to go all the way back home to retrieve that, and then return and display.

My only suggestion is, the longer your property is in storage after the first year your cost should go up half the normal increase. It should do that as long as it is in storage. That would not only increase customer volume but clients would feel more comfortable about leaving it in there longer.

When I arrived a week later to move my stuff in, they told me they didn’t have any large units and never actually reserved one for me. I had to figure out where to put half my stuff that day as they could only offer me a 5x6. I asked if they could notify me when a larger unit became available and they said they would- they never did. I checked in with them the next 3 times I went, asking to be notified and they never did reach out so I was with a 5x6 the whole time I was there. The elevators have also been out of order multiple times I needed to get stuff from my unit, which is so incredibly frustrating. The lack of follow through from employees is what annoyed me the most.
Jessica J | Overall ExperienceI have to question the customer service training of the Manager, Adeshia Petersen. Upon removal of the items from my unit, the movers inadvertently took away one of the moving carts in their truck. The Manager called me and basically said that they had stolen the cart. I don't know who she usually deals with, but the assumption of theft from the get go is not "a best practice" from a customer serice perspective and is not acceptable in my books. I contacted the movers - who had already realized their oversight - and they returned the cart. When I called to update the situation to the Manager, she wouldn't take my call and instead communicated with me through one of her staffers. Not very professional in my opinion. She would not apologize for the accusation of theft and then a few days later, a charge for $75 was applied to my CC on file. This is NOT OK! I spoke to staff in person when I cleared the unit and they would not remove the charge and told me to "call Corporate". I have been a UHaul customer for close to 10 years in multiple locations - including Canada and have never had the rude and offensive treatment I experienced with Ms. Petersen. I would be glad to speak with someone about this should you need any more information. At this point, I cannot recommend this particular location to others and that is unfortunate.

CREE P | First ImpressionsThe doors to enter the building slide apart. There is a garage door where you can back in the building if you need due to weather. However with all this space you still have to go through a normal size Door entrance to get to unit. I think that's such a design flaw. Loaded carts outside and got to door and had to unload to get through door then load again.

On Saturday the 18th, I drove to the U-Haul storage center of Northland, where I had reserved a storage unit back in mid to late July. I get to the counter and find out from the extremely unhelpful and apathetic customer service agent that the unit wasn't available and that the website was inaccurate in its inventory of available units. He shrugged and said that this happens all the time - people making reservations online for units that they don't have! How is this acceptable? Why even bother making a reservation in the first place? I had five carloads full of my stuff in the parking lot and four friends waiting on me when I discovered that I didn't have the unit available to me. I made the customer service agent make phone calls to nearby U-Haul storage unit centers to find another available unit with my specifications. The process took almost an hour. When I was able to secure a unit at the Bexley location, I had to make an entirely new reservation. By the time the agent hung up and I left, he just watched me leave and didn't even apologize. He did not care at all about my inconvenience or assisting me one bit. My friends and I drove to the storage center in Bexley, where the customer service agent there was much more helpful and gave me a storage unit that was close to the main door, so I appreciated that. However, I was angered to find out that I would have to pay for my unit that day, because when I booked a reservation for a moving truck online, the website offered a promotion for a month's worth of free storage if I made a reservation for a unit - which was the only reason I booked a unit at U-Haul in the first place. If I had known then that my promotion wasn't going to be honored, I would have shopped elsewhere for a unit. I was finally able to get my things into the unit safely after paying for it, but I need to say how angry and disappointed I was that my advanced unit reservation or my promotion wasn't honored and I had to go through all the trouble of making a new reservation and waste hours of my time and the time of my moving helpers. I am going to keep my items in the unit for as long as I need to, and then I will no longer use U-Haul for my storage needs in the future.

As a result, I was told I had to pay for the unit, which is a charge I hadn't budgeted for. I was especially disappointed because I had booked the truck and expected that deal before the manager had decided to discontinue that deal, which should, in my mind, make me more than eligible for the deal. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience at this location, and I won't be using it in the future. Hopefully another storage provider can save me some money or honor the commitments they make to their customers.

When they close the office at 7pm, they also lock the double doors. So if you need to move after that you have to take all your furniture through a door barely big enough for one person. There are not enough carts, and only one elevator and you cannot use the stairs! It took hours to move in because there were multiple families there all trying to use one door and one elevator. And if you are not done by 10pm, you can't get in. And if too many people overload the elevator, it stops working. The staff is racist and rude. This facility is way to expensive for the amount of inconvenience involved. I will never rent from them again!

Please make sure to recognize also that some people live together and use the same phone. We were repeatedly asked for a cell phone number, we didn't have one with us nor do I own one. My partner did happen to be there and needed after several times reminded the store associates that we are partners and share the same phone number land line and his cell phone number. There are options for people. You need to make those options. I don't think I'll be doing business with U-Haul in the future when I can go to other stores that do offer trucks, vans and storage units without a big dramatic hassle. We were the first of two customers present. We didn't get tended to until two hours later because we were asked to stand aside while the associates waited on others. This was not fair at all.

Unit was nice but door wasn't directly to hallway and there was a tight turn to get in. Requested another unit so I could move items straight in. That unit had a large pipe on right side and duct work dropping about 4 feet down on the other side. We managed to fit our items in but took much effort to fit it. First unit also had obstruction for about 6 inches. If I reserve 5x10x8, it should be 5x10x8. These problems weren't a problem with the staff and they were helpful and accomodating, but the facility should have been designed better.

This is something that should be mentioned when getting the storage unit. My bike got stolen. My storage unit was already locked and reserved for someone else before I even finalized canceling my unit. What if I still needed access to it? I had it for the month. Luckily I did not but, would have been a very messy situation if I still needed it for the next week or so.

However, after realizing the unit would not work for me I called immediately to cancel the unit and spoke to a gentleman who said he would be able to take care of that. I got a call a couple weeks later asking if I had moved into the unit and I let them know that this was cancelled a few weeks ago. This concerned me that I was charged for time I wasn't using but as of now I am not seeing any charges so luckily we should be good. Hopefully the office can stay organized in the future though so this does not happen. In terms of the unit, I am not sure why a unit is on the third floor without a freight elevator. We were not going to be able to fit some of our items in that tiny elevator and on top of that it would be a very inefficient way to move. We chose another unit that was more convenient for our needs.
