PATRICK POne of the storage units was listed and moved into and out of the same day. Additionally, the system had the owner of the unit as John Doe so I wasn't make aware of the issue. My units were on autopay; nonetheless, the unit was considered abandoned and my items auctioned off. When I returned to close the storage unit after 4 months storing it was empty. There has been no followup from the manager of the facility and zero effort to assist with any insurance claim. The error from U-Haul has not been addressed and management seem to be hiding from accountably for their error

I went to the location they said they located the dolly and would refund me in 3 to 5 days. I saw a refund and then the money was taken out again. Please return my money because your company lhas the dolly, which I RETURNED WITH THE TRUCK.

We received the truck almost on empty and returned it with more gas in it than when we received it and I have photos. They then told me to bring in the photos in to them. That's ridiculous in this age of technology. I was not provided with an email address to send the photos. I was then told it was being corrected, but the person could not provide a receipt. I a, still awaiting my corrected receipt.
JAVON BCreate a way for customers to get to the office from inside the storage building. There were errors on the staff’s end that resulted in me having to walk outside in the rain twice to get to the office to get things resolved. Then I had to walk outside in the rain twice to get back to the storage side. Also some clear signage indicating that you must check in at certain kiosks in order to use the elevator and which kiosks those are would be incredibly helpful!

There were 2 male workers at the facility that I asked to assist me to park the truck because I was nervous due to the tight space. They refused. That part of the customer service experience was truly disheartening. It took me about 20 minutes to park the rental.

PAYMAN PThe place was invested with rodents....had to toss all my clothing due to the filth...had two different storage units one with you and one with what use to be Life Storage.Had no issues with Life Storage. UHaul locked me out of the unit citing the bill had not been paid. This was not factual. I had auto pay on the account. UHaul was supposed to change the lock and keep the key in the office for me to pick the key up. Upon my calling to pick the key up, I was told the lock was never changed and it was my own lock. Due to this information, I went and obtained a lock cutter because UHaul told me they were not allowed to cut personal locks. Once I arrived to cut the lock, UHaul had indeed changed the lock to one of UHaul round lock. Michael from the call center was extremely nice and helpful. To have all my clothes in the unit damaged and be told UHaul will not take responsibility for the damage and my having to go through either my home insurance or rental insurance when yet I rented the unit from UHAUL and UHaul facility is infested with rodents. UHaul came up with all kinds of excuses but never owned p to their rodent invested facility. I had no food in the unit. Unfortunately, I did not see the rat bait station in the unit until I moved out. UHaul stated it was a preventive measure. Interesting, also, Life Storage did not have a bait station and there was no issue with rodents in the storage unit. I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and share my experience with others because this is totally unacceptable.

Renato MUpon the return of the vehicle (04420 I believe was the Ram truck number)and placing an empty box in my free, one month unit 1818. I unfortunately experienced rude, incompatient, insensitive and unprofessional service from the manager, Valencia. I was attempting to recall my unit number, and I expressed to her that I had a disability, and I needed a minute, or a few seconds of calm and quiet to try to recall. The manger refused, and consistently said, "put it in, put it in, put it in, you're not doing it, put it in, put it in, put it in, you're not putting it in." She then attempted to walk away and said, come get her when I was ready. I walked with her and a gentleman spoke to her in Spanish and she stopped then stated she would stand there. I returned to the box to gained access.

BEVERY C(1) I initially booked a reservation at the Hyde Park location, but I got reassigned to the LaSalle one without any advanced notice. I ended up wasting more than an hour in getting to Hyde Park Uhaul location first, then LaSalle, then back to my moving-out apartment. (2) When I was trying to retrieve the truck at the LaSalle location, it was seriously short-stuffed. There was a long line and I waited in line for another hour to get the truck. Both of these made my experience very bad.

Ur company should reserve 1sr floor ADA accessible spaces for both seniors who can't take the long paths n steps to view back n forth. . If they are paying n. Have family assisting. Autry SI would recommend this location because of Janessa. However, the check engine light is on, she checked and it is catalytic issues. The location is understaffed which made checking out slow but Janessa maintained a professional manner and made it a breeze to get everything done. Moving is hard enough. Need more like her. Equipment issue not her fault.
Stephen DI have 2 major concerns: 1 - it is almost impossible to get hold of someone on the phone at the local store. 2 - I believe that my lock code was overrriden and my items moved to a differnt storage unit. I reserved 2 (2236 and 2588). I canceled 2588 and left items in 2236. Upon trying to enter 2236, i discovered a difernt lock (a key lock instead of the combination lock I left). My things were actually in 2588. The only way that could have happened is if someone at Uhaul accessed my locker with my authorization. This has eroded all trust I have in the company and that faciilty.

MARLON CLocking mechanism on one of our 10x10 storage rooms was broken, apparently from someone previously cutting off a lock and bending it where the pin would not slide. We appreciated the response of the attendant on Sunday finding another locking mechanism and replacing it instead of us having to move our items to another room after we just moved in. Also, the attendant was very helpful with the orientation. I wish I remember his name, but he was excellent.

I was thinking scared disgusted unvalued and just plain lied to. This is POOR business quality. Unbelievable. I have never been treated like this before with this company. Finally I was given one with a big wide pole inbetween which took up some of the space. UNDAMNBELIEVABLE. SO she said she would give me a good discount and she never did as a matter of fact she did not come back in the office. I. Will be calling corporate today because nobody should be treated like this.

The doors did not open at our floor and the elevator froze, would not go up or down or open. The call button was useless as it rang and then said nobody could answer. We thought we would be stuck for hours. Finally it started running again After 15 minutes, With no explanation from staff. Feels very unsafe and was extremely stressful after a busy day of moving. I would like a discount on next month’s rent for this awful experience.

He can not tell me the correct sizes of the unit I asked for a large unit they have we walked me ove to the 2 smallest and said put these 2 together. I told him I needed something bigger. We went back to the office OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN I asked him was there a way to get to & from here without going in the rain he said NO. But once we got to the front door by the office I saw an customer standing in the door way and we just left her in the back of the build. I asked him well how she got up here but we had to go around in the rain he said nothing. I continued to pick unit once again. He gave me 2 more unit I could not use. After that I asked him to call his Supervisor are Manager he to me no. If I wanted to get this handled I had to work with him because he cant and want call his Supervisor are Manager. As I was on the phone with the 1800# his co workers stop and asked me if I need help I told him was was going on and he right then an there he walked me to 2 unit to see if that would work and they did so he did all the changes from him phone. He was very helpful. But that other Guy Josh dont need to work for yall company. Even when I went to my unit one time he had to nerve to say oh you still here. I was about to go to jail dealing with him. Once I closed my ticket out there was 2 new lady's at the desk they also was very friendly and please to work with.

Some stored items have no value and are too heavy for the floors. Those items may potentially cause unwanted deterioration of the property. Some tenants are unclean and I'm assuming is the hardest part of the job is Consistently cleaning up after adults. Otherwise, this business is operating well. A formal audit suggested. And better communication skills from the staff. I've seen roaches, bedbugs, mice, and some creatures I don't know the names. Good luck!

Craig M | Online Move InThe only loading dock for trucks over 10 ft was broken. That really sucked considering I had a 1 bedroom apartment to move into the storage unitt and had no ramp or way to do it without encouring stairs. Second, it’s false advertising to allow someone to reserve a “first floors street level” until that is on the second floor… that’s just a lie. That’s not a mistake or “typo” like someone suggested. If I had known it would be on the second floor I would have planned to have more people with me me but it was too late. That’s wrong and I think I will take action to have you all correct it. That kind of advertising could have a handicap or disabled person really in a bind if they think they are moving things on to the first floor and it is. Otherwise everyone was super nice and helpful and in good spirits.

kathy y | Overall ExperienceI rated my experience three stars because of the way my partial exit from UHaul was handled after paying over $10,000 in storage fees since renting the two storage units in early June, 2000 & never missing a payment. Nevertheless, the day after the grace period ended, Oct. 6th, I personally went to the UHaul and asked if I could extend the period for two more since was hiring professional movers & planned to move out in two more days. The two guys working there both said it would be alright and that they would put a note in the system. When I arrived there two days later, we could not operate the elevator or get a guest pass because the system stated the rent on the units were past due. When we were let on the elevator by the manager after explaining what had happened, the movers and I get to the first unit & there is an additional lock on the unit put there by UHaul due to non-pymt. I then called the downstairs front desk & the manager came to take the lock off, all the time my $150. per hr movers sat around waiting. Finally when they finished cleaning out the first unit & could not fit all of the second unit on their truck, I went to the office & paid for the month of October for that unit, which I had told the two guys I had spoken with earlier that I would do. This all happened a week & a half ago & yet someone called me a couple of days ago from UHaul to tell me that I owed rent on the unit I had moved from although I had ended that lease the day I moved out & had also removed my lock. The unit was completely empty yet they did not even know that or check before calling me. I then had to explain the entire chain of events that day so she could really understand that I had paid the rent for October on the rental unit I still had. So frustrating!!

Upon speaking to Anthony and letting him know all of this, Anthony was very professional, and knowledgeable with what I needed and helped me find the right size unit for my items. He took the time to understand my situation and was very polite. He also gave me options on what was the best bang for my buck. It’s refreshing to deal with people who are transparent and helpful. It’s little things like that, that helped alleviate a stressful situation, which I appreciated it a lot. I will definitely be using Uhaul of Bronzeville again and will recommend this location to anyone.

I consistently could never get through on the phobe and would sit on hold for hours. My contract and unit was put in a random person's name and address due to this I was told I could not get information on this account . This error was supposedly corrected multiple times and never was. I was reassured that the storage would fit my belongings. There was a huge cement cylinder taking up the majority of the rm. I ended up having to switch to a more expensive room when this was discovered upon arrival despite explicitly inquiring beforehand.

I heard the poor cat scream over the course of a couple of week while I was moving things in and out of the place. First time, I thought I was hearing things but a week later I definately knew it was a stored cat. Whoever treated a cat like this should be held accountable legally. I called the office but no answer and the call forwarded to the main UHAUL customer service line. I told the rep about it and he wrote a note to managenement and I think it was taken care of. Which is good cause I was about to call 911, animal control, the media etc. This is extreme animal cruelty and I think better measures should be in place to not only check what people are storing but to hold them responsible if they break the rules or the law.

When my mother asked what was going on, one of the employee started to yell at her very very aggressively. She told her to shut up and just go to another store!! My mother was so in shock she started to cry!! This employee was very loud and hostile to us both. We just didn’t not understand why she would be putting my credit info in her phone; that was the only question we asked. Also we were terrified for our lives because NO ONE at this location wore a mask except for my mom and I during my entire experience!!! So ALARMING!!!!!!! This behavior is very very very unacceptable due COVID-19 killing people and my mom having underling health issues!!!!!!!!. You’re staff put my mom and I at risk in addition to the belligerent behavior of your employee ( I think she was a manager). Lastly, I spoke to someone at this location two days prior to my move-in a safe said that my unit was available on the first floor which was imperative, I even told her that I could pay ahead of time, but she said pay on Saturday when I arrive. When I arrived my u it had been moved to the 3rd floor which caused me to spend more money with the movers . She said that she thought that I would not mind because the 3rd floor had air conditioning, but actually I did mind; the decision caused me to spend more money considering I was moved to the 3rd floor and across the building!!!!! I would have went to another U-Haul if I knew this was a possibility!!! Nevertheless, please contact me with a follow up call. I have never seen such poor service at your facilities!!!
