Yes - we had a storage unit for 14 years and all interactions were great. Of course the price increased over those years which was a bummer but all staff at all times were helpful, courteous and respectful. The check out team yesterday were great.

If there is a small sitting area to sit and wait would be so great as sometimes customers like us who come from a far away distance have no any options to go anywhere after dropping off our vehicle and then just wander around the area to pass the time till our vehicle is ready for pickup. Other than that, the facility and staff is great. Thanks

I picked up my truck rental and they couldn’t find the truck that I had the keys for. So I had to go get another set of keys. The paper said I had to bring the truck back 3/4 full. When I got in the truck it was only on 1/4. So I spent an extra 70 in gas to make sure it was were the paper said. So I got ripped off in my opinion. They gave me a 12 dollar credit for 70 dollars out of my pocket.

Trailer was unsafe 3 of the 4 tires were bald and flat with in minutes of leaving had to inflate and plug them.on the side of the road , when i dropped the trailer back, i told them and they said oh shit we shoukd have replaced those. I had my family and same kids with me it could have ended badly. The staff however were extremely nice.

My belongings had been in storage for over 4 years. Everything was in perfect condition when I unpacked the storage boxes. Literally just like the day they were first put in storage.

When I arrived to pick up the truck and confirm my storage unit, I was told they did not offer the free month nor the free lock. He tried to say the only available unit was more expensive then I reserved. But when I kept saying what did I reserve he finally said he had one at the price I reserved. Then offered me the free lock but told me no free month.... I am going to another storage unit company within the week and will be disputing the charges with my credit card. Not only is the other company cheaper, the unit is bigger. 10*10 for 187 plus tax per month with a month free.

This is not a location issue, but an App issue... I'll be blunt - it sucks. It crashes when trying to take pictures for the return, there are other issues, but that is the biggest one. I had to call in to get help because of it. Fix the app and the service would be perfect. Because of the app (which I tried to avoid), it kinda ruined it.

I came in to have a trailer hitch installed. I had no issues till the day of installation I opened my app so I could prepay and noticed they changed my installation time from 12pm to 11:30am. I was never told of this change. I had multiple emails and text confirming the 12pm time if I didn't open the app I would of been late for my appointment. It wasn't a huge deal cause I was able rearrange my ride back to work but not everyone has the ability. While I was in line to finally pay my bill the man in front me me was also saying his time was changed too but he traveled from NFLD and it totally messed up his schedule. The mechanic was good. He took my car in early but the front of house really needs to let clients know if times change beforehand. A simple call would of sufficed.

pre booked unit was available immediately at pick-up and only took about 10 minutes for paperwork and payment. vehicle was showing Check engine light but mechanic indicated that it was a faulty sensor only. vehicle worked fine. vehicle 10ft GMC van seemed to be quite gas hungry.

Had an issue with the communication of the drop off. When calling, the rental agent was rude and didn't call me back when he said he would so I had to drive to the location to get it sorted. I was under the impression that when dropping off the unit I was suppose to have the same amount of fuel as when I picked it up. I did so only to get a substantial charge on my credit card. Once I was at the location the rental agent did credit me back which I appreciate it. All was sorted out but the initial experience was stressful .

I booked a 15 ft cargo van in Lower Sackville, NS for 9am Saturday morning. I arrive and use the app and it immediately tells me to call customer service. Great. I call and turns out the dealer hosting the uhaul, didn't put the key in the box and they weren't open so I couldn't get the truck that was right next to me, that I had booked 2 weeks in advance. Mind you this is after I spend 20 mins in hold with the first guy who then gives me the number to another person. Great again. Call this person and they tell me I can use the next closest one which is in Dartmouth. That now adds an hour round trip onto my already long day as to which I'm not already behind on. I have movers at my house being paid to stand there and wait for me. Incredibly inconvenient. I'll be calling a manager on Monday and discussing this further.

Horrible payment system and Customer service - Ive been double charged, charged random amounts at weird times during my rental, I have charges popping up here and there that are then refunded, random receipts that don't match previous charges. What a mess the payment system is. And then the treatment by staff while trying to sort this out. Everyone seems to be completely clueless about how your payment system works and how to use it, but are very quick to downplay any feedback the customer tries to give. Just all around horrible customer experience. I'm left with thousands of dollars on my card, no sign of receipts for the charges that actually did go through, and zero follow up to help rectify the situation. I'd be ashamed if my business operated like this.

Cab console was covered in dust and coffee stains. Box floor was covered in dust and dirt. The box leaked and ruined some of the contents that was directly lying on the floor. The dust and dirt on the floor turned to mud. The person that checked out the truck to us was very short thrift, did not bring us out to the truck to inspect or anything else, it was dark and truck was not even warmed up.

I had my items in an unheated unit so happy I can have heated this time and I love the convenience! It poured rain during our move and the ability to drive into the building, the carts available for use; a bathroom nearby as we were there a long time. It was a fantastic experience and I would recommend this place to anyone.

There was no security to speak of. At one point i stopped even using the key card. Drove right in all the time. No one ever showed up or said anything. During my time there several people had items stolen. The facility is directly next to low income Housing complexes in the worst part of town too. When even i rent a trailer to move items to and from my locker, the point of sail system never works. Most times they have to give return deposits in cash because the system is broken. Over all inefficient and unsafe, but cheap so you are definitely getting what you pay for.

I travel for work and multiple time went in the windmill road branch to setup a 3-6 month rate where I am rarely home. I was simply told no and now I come home and me and my families (2 daughter) has been sold. Terrible customer service and my families belongings have now been sold..

I have to commend uhaul for providing excellent customer service, Michelle at your Dartmouth location was super intuitive, and super compassionate about my situation. She spoke to me as if I was a friend and not just a customer who ultimately would increase sales revenue . The young fella that got me set up when I came in was over-the-top friendly and helpful, notably so. The truck was clean and worked as expected. My primary complaint is the unit I booked was supposed to be 10'x20'. I would call to question your measuring tools. It was 3+ feet shorter than 20' and more than a foot narrower. I was able to get things in, but that extra 3 feet sure would make adding the last few things a lot easier! :) All in all, a good experience. If my mattress doesn't mold over the winter, I'll sing your praises from the highest hill. We are not selling tickets to that concert just yet! :)

Overall it was a good experience. The prices made up for the fact the floors look like it's a construction site. Clean, friendly, and the cheapest in town. For me to point out that the floors are uneven is just nitpicking. I would used your services again and have recommended u-haul to a few friends already and will continue to do so.

The storage unit they rented me had mold in ceiling and it held my move up by 2 hours costing me an extra 350 dollars in moving expenses for the mover. They did gove me another unit an hour after I got there and acted like they did me a favor. But out of pocket I had to pay n extra 350.

Hello all, I am so happy to be able to tell you I had a great experience with the U Haul in Dartmouth on Windmill rd. I have used this location for my storage unit, and I purchase my propane there too. On the last day of my unit rental I was stressed as I needed one extra day to get my things. I went to the office and was met wirh a huge smile from the manager Kim. I have never had such amazing and friendly customer service before. She was lovely and gave me the time I needed to get the rest of my things. I will never hesitate to go back should I need their services.

Staff were could not mind their own business, making comments about my electric bike, telling me I should have insurance on them. Ask me what happens if I run somebody over or get a bike accident. Talking about me in the room, as if I wasn’t there in front of customers, such as they think their motorcycles and actually I don’t think their motorcycles. I know it’s an electric bike.Service is poor. I’m from Ontario where people mind their own business. NOVA SCOTIA people seem to have an opinion on everybody worry about what other people are doing. It’s crazy.

This unit was acquired from a previous employee. I was never provided a contract, every time I went into the office - wait time was 1 - 2 hr, had difficulty in changing contact information (in person and over the phone), frequently would have to call to get monthly invoices even though my email had not changed. Reaching someone over the phone was relatively easy, only bonus. This unit has been a thorn in my side from day one.

I was pretty frustrated to find the unit was up a flight of stairs with no elevator. The ad for the unit said “drive up”, which gave the impression that we could drive up to the unit and unload the heavy furniture we are storing. Now we’ll need to carry it all up a flight of stairs. I would not have chosen this particular unit had I known that was the case. There was no lock in the unit as advertised, but the friendly staff were able to assist. The rest of the facility was clean and the carts were very helpful, just wish the particular unit was described better on the website.

I rented a unit that was told to be street level. Upon arrival it was in the second floor with only stairs no elevator. Secondly there was no lock in the unit as promised. The local staff was beyond empathetic and helpful. Kudos to the staff on duty at the time. Shame on U-Haul for as always making someone think they are going to get what they ordered.

On a side not I'm really not sure if your aware of this but prostitutes use your parking lot for "work" at night time. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful, but the process was painfully long and unreasonably complicated. I had come in and made all the arrangements more than a week ahead of time, and it still took an hour while I had people at my house, waiting, who I was paying. I will search for an alternate solution next time. It seemed very disorganized and painfully slow. The staff were friendly and respectful, but it took so much longer, and seemed so disorganized that it was a Hateful experience.

The facility was clean and well maintained. The posted hour for storage access were not correct. I had attempted to access my storage at 8pm, and despite the website saying I had access until 10pm, I was informed by a customer service rep. on the phone that it was only open during office hours. There was no indication of this cut-off time prior to this. This issue caused me to have to drive over 1 hour more than expected, and store items back at my house that I had planned to put in the unit. The issue of incorrect hours needs to be fixed before it causes more issues with customer access.

Never even set foot in the storage locker, tried to contact within a few days of getting it to cancel and ask about a possible partial refund. No answer from anyone, a no would have been sufficient. I can't say enough good things about Kim, the manager at the windmill storage facility. I had a turbulent 5 years and needed to store all my belongings for that stretch of time. She made every effort she could to make my move as stressless as possible. All the staff I've dealt with at that location were absolutly top notch as well, kudos to the whole team!

only 2 cart / caddies available for moving - one flatbed, and one good for upright items such as artwork, mirrors, etc. And one of the cart was extremely noisy. It worked well and we only needed it for a few trips but wow - loud LOL.

Was moving my stuff in yesterday and at the last and heaviest piece I arrived to find a woman blocking most of the loading bay. An older couple graciously moved their vehicle so I could get in. This woman had one dolly cart loaded and sitting idle while she used the other to unload and move things into storage. I asked for the use of the cart and was told it sucks to be you . I left her to her own misery and borrowed the cart from upstairs. If it had been a guy that was that ignorant to me it would have been a different story. There is no reason for that and people should not take all of the facilities equipment for their own at everyone else's expense.

The day I leased the unit, counter staff were kind and helpful. I proceeded to the facility to ensure I knew how to unload and access the unit ahead of time -- it looked secure and I was confident to entrust my belongings to your care. I was happy I chose this storage facility. However, I was not informed at the time of lease that I did not have after-hours access. When I arrived at 6:55pm on the following Saturday to move in, my swipe card told me "access granted", but the sliding doors did not open (at back of facility, where the staff member had recommended I enter as it is close to my unit). I called the number on my access card and reached the call center. The rep looked up my unit and I was advised that I did not have after-hours access and that I needed to pay $10/month to gain access. There was nothing she could do to help me, I had to call the Windmill Rd (NS) the next morning to sort it out. I proceeded to the office, just to see if anyone was around (it was 7:15). There was a staff member inside and I explained my problem; he said (while I stood outside) that there was nothing he could do to help me, no one he could call, and that I had to come back the next day. I initially used the doors at the back of the facility, which is where the staff member advised I should access my unit. I went to the side door (2nd level) and the door opened, but I could not load to my unit (1st floor) from this entrance. I tried the front first level entrance, again the card reader said "access granted", but the sliding door did not open for me. I had arranged help from a family member to move that evening, had loaded and driven my vehicle (big truck with cargo trailer), succeeded in backing it into the unloading area, but then I had to return home. In future, please ensure clients are aware if access is not 24/7 and which doors they can/cannot use. I cancelled my lease and rented another unit elsewhere for a discounted rate.

I cancelled my rental on the same day I went to start moving stuff in. The email communications I got were misleading on the process and access. I was not able to get into the building with a code so I had to go to the office to wait in line for 30 minutes only to learn I could sign out a key to access the building. It was communicated in the email and by the person who helped me sign out the key that a lock would be in the unit. Went back to access the unit and there was no lock. So this coupled with the fact that I would not have after hours access via a key pad and would always have to first go and sign out a key made me ask for my money back. I feel like maybe the unit I rented was different from the other buildings where the email would have made sense and worked. If I had known or if it was more clear during the online booking I would not have rented this particular storage unit.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with this Facility. I have struggled many many times while my things were in storage and want to say that staff specifically Kim went out of her way to help when and where possible. She and other staff were very caring and compassionate to my circumstances during very difficult times. I have so much more to say but struggling to articulate myself in my current health condition. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My initial contact was great. I was helped by the lady on the phone phenominally well. The call center guy that helped me the second time from a remote location les so he rented me an unsuitable bin that was completely unu-sable despite my specific specifications of what it was to be used for and what my needs and limitations were. I then had to go to the location to get the situation fixed and am still not certain that the situation is 100% solved as I was promised a month free and am not sure if that was credited or not by the 3rd agent i spoke to. Otherwise the bin is now suitable clean accessable and good would advise friends to rent with uhaul.

Been renting trucks for over 4 months now, because mine blew up and wasn’t worth fixing. A replacement truck has proven hard to find. Anyway, whenever we have jobs, I have to go to the U-Haul office pick up a truck, then go to my storage facility to put work gear on. So one of the staff members mentioned their storage, which I assumed was full, as storage anywhere in HRM is hard to find. Well Kim, the office manager found me a 10 x 15 storage unit very reasonably priced. So here I am.

We did not know at first which building our storage unit was in. Once we found the building we did not know which door could be opened with the outside key. The staff member on site was not regularly assigned there and did not know the answers to these questions, but we all worked together and found the door by trial and error.

We were given a rate for our storage unit which was then raised at random increments throughout the year with little notice. I would expect to have my rate secured for a minimum of one year before any rent increases. The amount for the increases was also a lot (and random). I would have chosen a different storage company initially had i known this would happen. Move out was very easy though and staff were kind.

The staff were all very nice; my only issue was Ryan set me up for automatic payments and unfortunately it wasn’t completed and I was charged a late payment fee. I have never been late on anything and this was disappointing. My other concern was how damp my belongings got in less than 3 months storage. I understand I did not have a climate controlled unit, however it was shocking how much mould there was on many of my possessions. The rear of the unit had a lot of moisture/water stains on the wall/floor. I think for anyone renting one of these units, they should be forewarned that it is highly likely they will get mould; not just maybe.

Over the last several years, I have utilized U-Haul Storage on Windmill Road Dartmouth, NS to store my furniture. I would highly recommend anyone to use your storage site. My furniture and personal affects were secure at the storage and that was a top priority for me! The general manager ( Kim Singh)) was a professional, rendered excellent customer service and she would resolve any pending issue that I might have regarding my account or being out of the HRM area. At first there wasn't a unit available in the size I reserved. Then they found one,but it was on the second floor. It was bigger too so more money. Then we find it is locked and full of someone else's stuff. Long and short of it they found a pod in the upper yard at a cheaper price and I got the first month free. Good job to all that helped me. Last night I moved-in to my storage unit but the experience was awful as my code is not working and the customer service is not too friendly/polite at all. Waited for an hour (8PM to 9PM) before I was able to get in as they are trying to figure out what to do. Since the phone conversation is recorded you ca review the phone conversation and you'll hear from it how the customer service lady responded to my problem. The manager on the site is polite and professional though.

May or may not recommend, uncertain. First time I used this location, it was 24hr access. 7 days a week. This time around, the location wasn't accessible like it had been. However, it also wasn't the same physical building. When I ask for a larger unit, it was suggested there were a couple coming up, and in the meantime if a smaller unit would be ok, I could get the larger unit at a later date. Been several years. Never happened, even though units directly across from mine were emptied twice that I'm aware of. Incidentally, I was offered a second smaller unit. Not useful. Not what was suggested. I'm glad I'm no longer a tenant. One, all of my items are in one unit now. For less than the 5'×10' unit I had. And I'm that much closer to no longer needing a storage unit that's not on my property.

When I came after 5 month to get things out of my storage I couldn't find it so I had to move backwards with a 15 ft truck twice. It would be great if they could setup some signs which storage units are in which road.

The webpage had lots of issues loading c/card info and same for the d/license, and access times for the main office storage not clear, was under the impression it was till 10 pm 7 days. Onsite staff were good to deal with.

One thing that I'm not satisfied with is the free month storage that you are allowed to have according to the website and actually, you cannot have it. I rent a Uhaul Van (Contract #27797743) going to Quebec (2500Km in total) and back in Halifax. Sadly, I've been told that I wasn't eligible because I took the truck in Halifax and return it to Halifax. On your website, it is said that I had 2 yrs to claim a month free of storage. This is the part that I will not recommend to friends if they will do the same procedures as me. Meaning, rent a truck UHaul, to a place drive that many KM, and back. Very disappointing. I hope you will reconsider to allowed us to have one month free especially since I will be using your storage for 6 to 18 months in total. Thank you for reading the feedbacks.

Not impressed with how the facility is managed at all. Also the decision to extract my credit card info from past transactions in order to illegally attempt to make a charge due to late payment was very illegal. That's what you call sketchy business practice. For that I'll never say anything good about uhaul. If that transaction had gone through, we would be going to court over the matter. Never again.

I reserved an 8 X 8 X X 8 unit on December 30th and got a confirmation. When I went to the location the next day to show my insurance policy, the unit was gone. Did you know it’s was on a first come, first served policy even though I had a reservation number specify I had an 8 X 8 X 8 unit reserved. What does “Reserved” mean to them??? I was furious and am still furious!!

At the Uhaul on Windmill I unfortunately was reluctantly served by the lady who obviously hates her job and would rather be doing anything than helping customers. She had me waiting and waiting while she was putting stock on shelves. As slow as she possibly could. After about 10 minutes she finally served me. She provided me with my facility directions and map and hours. I asked how do I get in? She told me to drive through the door. I sat in front of the door waiting for it to open… nothing… went back inside again and thankfully the other gentleman who obviously loves his job and serving customers showed me how to open the garage and apologized that someone had turned it off. I get to my storage locker and it’s sealed shut. I go back in again and ask her how to I break the seal to access my locker. She rolls her eyes at me, saunters over to the display locker and mockingly rolls up the locker door to show me how to get in. At this point I’m furious. I said I need something to break the green seal! She then says oh, grabs a knife and starts heading out.

Booked a space but did not have the size I booked online. No record of the online booking. Gave me a smaller unit than the one I booked. When I went to see it, it had not been vacated. Received a call with a different unit. Was the size I had originally booked. Was told they would not increase the first month payment I made for the smaller unit. Then I got an email saying I was late on my first month payment and was being fined. I didn't even have the storage unit yet and had paid when I booked the storage unit. I do love the new space and the move in went really well!

Staff was very friendly. I was disappointed that by reserving a unit doesn't mean you will get a unit...why provide that option? Fortunately, a similar (but more expensive) unit was available. The locker unit was a bit damp and strong odor, probably due to cleaning and of course the rat trap wasn't very enticing.

I noticed something like bird poop dripping no a on several of my items in storage when moving out. I also had an awful time even getting this unit, since I technically booked one at another location and ended up with this one and having to use stairs, which I was trying to avoid.

Reserving a truck, equipment and storage unit doesn’t mean anything. The storage unit I reserved was not there for me nor was there any explanation when booking that it was first come first serve whether I reserved it or not. So was given a much smaller unit and a second unit of the same size free for only a month. No apology asked if when the size unit I reserved opened up if I could be contacted…. Doubt that will happen. Almost didn’t get the right size truck because the one that was supposed to be mine was having mechanical issues. Thankfully they had an extra one. Reserved a furniture and appliance dolly and got neither. Was told they were all gone in the morning even though again I reserved both for the time I reserved the truck. It was bad enough 2 of the 3 things I needed from uhaul went completely wrong but then the staff really didn’t seem to care and just wanted to finish the transaction and send you on your way didn’t make the situation any better. Directions were not explained such as when you return the truck get one of the guys outside to do the check rather than come back in to the front desk and wait in line for 25 minutes before they tell you “oh just go outside and get one of the guys”. I’ve used uhaul several times for my own moves and friends and family. This was the worst experience I have ever had with them and don’t know if I will use them for my next move.

An alarm blared every time I tried to open my locker, despite having confirmation it was ready and a tag on the door saying it was ready. When I contacted the front desk, I was treated rudely and told to come back in 2 days when they had a chance to fix the alarms. I said this was unacceptable because I'd already paid for the unit and driven with a van full of stuff to store. This went back and forth until someone else was put on the phone. There wasn't a lock in the locker either, so I had to call back again. Remarkably rude and incompetent service.
