THOMAS EI’ve only rented here once but rented from UHaul many times so I’d give this location a second chance. They had a lot of equipment available and easy access in and out of the location. Check was pretty slow and my trailer was quite dirty inside. Garbage and a lot of dirt and mulch like material. Floor was filthy. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the interior before we left Spent about 20-25 minutes cleaning the interior before we could load. Return was great. Person working was superb and apologized for the condition of the vehicle. It was her attitude and great service that would let me give this location a second chance.
RENATA GI cannot recommend storing with U Haul. When I first reserved storage in NY I was told I would be receiving a single large unit on the ground floor. I traveled 700 miles with my belongings and when I arrived at the storage facility I was informed that not only would I not be getting the unit I reserved, but that it was two separate units, on the lower level nowhere near each other. I was assured that the unit pricing would be “merged”, and that my monthly bill would be lower. It was not. I had to pay full monthly rates on two separate units. The location on the lower level was infested with mice. My furniture was literally covered with rodent urine and droppings. So on top of having to pay much more to store my things than I was told I would have to, I have now had to pay for everything to be cleaned. I am completely dissatisfied with my entire experience.

TODD MWe did not put our items into the facility. We were told by other customers there is a mice/rat issue and all of their stuff was ruined. Another student put their stuff there and not even 24 hours later there was mouse dropping and a dead mouse in her unit. So glad we chose to get a refund.

SCOTT AFacility well maintained with a lot of items available to purchase to assist with the move. The vehicle itself had trash in the cab. Windshield never cleaned. We had a leaking door seal driver side that prevented us the ability to hear the radio or our phone conversations very well. There was a horrible exhaust leak somewhere near the back of the cab area. Vehicle wanted to pull hard to the left while under motion. There was no way I could convey all of this on the drop off end as the attendant there spoke little to no English.

It was really nice to finally have people who "DID THEIR JOBS....AND WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE CUSTOMER" !! JOHN SI'd suggest ventilating the cabin before a driver picks up the car--the cabin interior of my U-haul smelled like cigarettes. Further, I'd suggest checking the brakes on the U-haul vehicles that I used--they were a little squishy.

Sophia was more than a delight to deal with, had all the necessary information, and was very helpful during an unforeseen moment when I was not feeling well and needed to extend my use of a truck. I cannot say I've had an unpleasant or bad experience with any employee there, but Sophia really stands out as an exceptional representative of the U-Haul business.

HELEN JI returned the equipment 2 days early but was over the milage by 8.8 miles and was charged for it. I had to pick the truck up more than 20 miles further away than what I had reserved. I reserved the equipment a month in advance. Overall very upset with uhaul.

FREDERICK LThere was not a specific indication of where the truck should be dropped off. The person at the desk could be more courteous. It was not a nice weather day so take that into consideration. Can;t count them out for doing what they could under the circumstances.
BETTY RBooking online and then having it cancelled on you to give it to another customer, yes, I have proof. Then rebooking it and having it cancelled again after you drive 30 minutes there to get it, but getting charged for it. Then having to call the main uhaul number to get your money reimbursed. VERY poor customer service skills at this location and having them lie about you on the phone, in front of you, to other people. The truck had garbage behind the seat and the glove compartment and smelled like cigarettes and weed. We rent multiple trucks from Uhaul in a closer location, all year round, for our Hotels that we own, and this has been the worst experience EVER, with this woman.

RODNEY BI’ll recommend to a friend with guidance to have the truck inspected before leaving once they return the truck. There were 2 employees at the desk when I arrived. One sitting with his legs up on the counter on his phone, when I approached he directed me to go to the other employee to be helped. Another customer walked in and approached him and he told him to wait in line for me to be finished. Just came off as rude and lazy. I refueled the truck with $5 gas @ $2.85/gallon just as I did the week before except this time I was charged more for gas! I only drove 17 miles total. When I returned the truck, I asked them to inspect it and was told “you’re all set, we’ll do it later”. I should have insisted they do it while I was there. I will never trust just dropping the truck off again for fear of overcharge.

Sometimes people have to work and then they have to get dinner but they also might have to do some moving or fill their storage area. In the night. JENNIFER WOne of the representatives incorrectly read the gas gauge twice and tried to overcharge me for gas. I showed them my receipt for gas and what their chart had shown I would need to fill it up with. The other representative checked after she had said she didn't know how accurate the chart actually is. She ended up refunding me the gas charge.

The place was super clean including the restroom on the 1st floor. Fast forward to 2 months ago when my husband and I went to get our things they were covered in mouse droppings and urine and the place smelled horrible. We were told that food had been brought in with someone's things months prior and caused an infestation. It really was a disappointment considering I paid the extra to have the benefit of climate controlled storage and rented out 3 units. I feel like the company could have informed their customers of this and offered some kind of compensation. If you didn't purchase the insurance when you started the account then you're SOL.

Marcia RMost employees are friendly and knowledgeable. However, a couple newer employees are placed out at front counter way too soon and are not properly trained which is extremely annoying and frustrating to customers who are trying to do simple transactions like making a monthly payment.

Staff did not have the decency to let me know there was a mouse problem in the area of the building where my unit was, which was evident with the mouse traps between each unit down the hall (only that hall). I would have gladly come and moved to another unit or vacated entirely.

richard s | Overall ExperienceThis is the third year we have used this U-Haul location. Every time we have interacted with staff at this location has been disappointing in some way. The only exception was checking out this year. I returned the truck we rented and checked out at the same time and he was efficient, pleasant and courteous. However, he (understandably) could not assist with my primary concern, which was that the unit had many dead mice. The smell infiltrated all of the belongings and we all reeked of the stench after unloading the unit. Yuck.

When returning to my storage unit after only 3 months, opening the door there immediately was mouse droppings everywhere. After beginning to move my stuff out, we found a dead mouse. When getting to the back of the storage unit, my 200 dollar futon had been chewed and ruined by a mouse. Resulting in having to throw it out due to not being able to clean or restore the couch. When unpacking, I also had to throw away some things that were covered in mouse droppings and unfortunately the worker did not seem to care. Definitely the worst experience that I have had with U-haul.

At the end of my time there, I had to call back once I read a sign inside that said, if you don't check out you may not get access again. I was surprised to read this and had to call and find out what it meant. Other than that everyone was very friendly. It was a clean place and unit was easy to find.

There was a huge amount of mice feces in my unit -- the first time ever -- and I've been at this facility for years. There were dead flies and wasps readily visible in the hallways, and the bathrooms had not been serviced and smelled. This facility is usually pretty full yet there were numerous ready-to-rent units. What happened? I think this is the only climate controlled storage in the area.

My entire storage unit with ALL my furniture and belongs was covered with rat/mice urine, poop and they had chewed holes in my mattress and box spring, ate parts of my gel mattress topper. Chewed through plastic bins/containers and the list goes on… reported to the employee at this location and he stated “we have ORKIN PEST CONTROL here every week and all his answers were “ yeah, yeah, yeah “ then told me to call the manager Ericka… so I called and got no answer and that the “mailbox” was full. I will pursue retribution for our damages and other costs incurred.

I've had Climate Controlled Storage Units in more than a dozen States, and U-Haul has always been my first choice when available. But today, I am sitting in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. Erika is by far the sweetest and the best Manager of any U-Haul Service Center or, of any "Competitor Wannabe" that I have ever encountered. Professional and Friendly do not begin to cover my experience with this particular Store, and I know all my belongings are as safe as they would be behind the steel doors at Fort Knox.

When he asked for help the other guy (who ignored me from the time I walked in) was beyond rude and useless!! Fast forward to paying storage fee, I was unable to pay online, showed $0.00 due. I live 1hr away so when I went to unit to retrieve things and pay my bill the same young man who helped day 1 tried to help, still unsure of the computer aspect of things called for the manager for assistance. She was very unpleasant to say the least! She did however wave the late fee while scolding me for being late. It was at that point I knew I would be moving out!!!! The lighting is HORRIBLE!!! I understand having motion lights in place. You don’t wanna pay electric or lights to be on 24 seven if people are not utilizing them however I should not have had to walk almost to the complete opposite end of the hallway to activate the motion lights so I could see to get into my unit, I also should not have had total darkness while in my unit because the motion lights went out. Lights should be activated during the login process. When you enter your access code, whether it be by swiping a card or punching in your number on the keypad it should automatically Turn the lights on in the sector and what your unit is in and they should stay on until you punch out with your code Although, for the most part, the facility was clean it was noted that not all floors were swept on a daily basis. I didn’t realize that I lost some thing off of a piece of furniture to eat prior to finding yet on the floor outside of my unit which indicates that the floors had not been swept.

When another associate was assisting me and had questions, this man was very short and gruff with his answers. I was trying to upgrade my storage unit and the gentleman that was helping me is a new employee who is having difficulty navigating the system which is understandable being that he is new and not familiar with the system the responses he was getting, however, were non-acceptable. When I got to the newly assigned unit, there was no lock took 15 minutes for somebody to come into the store room to assist me, and that was after I went outside to flag him down, when I made my initial reservation I did not have to pay upfront for the unit. However, when I changed my reservation to a bigger unit they tried telling me I had to pay $125. Still waiting for the manager to call me to straighten that out two days later my daughter lost a necklace when I called the local store number I was transferred to an operator that was not on premise. I left a message for somebody to please call me back to see if the necklace was lost there. It took 12 hours to get a return phone call , the manager stated that she just received the email this I find very unacceptable the customer service with the storage unit transaction is subpar at best. However, I will say that my experience renting my truck from quest auto in South Corning 14830 was very smooth and an enjoyable process , I would recommend his service, but will not recommend the storage unit

The rep insisted that U-Haul required an insurance payment, and I did pay it for the two months I had the unit. After speaking with the manager, I was told if I provided my insurance info then I would not be billed for U-Haul insurance. I have now moved out and was charged for the coverage for the 2 months that I rented. Doesn't seem quite right.

They charged my card and then cancelled the order right at 4 after I waited all day. The next day I went to store my stuff close to the end of storage hours when no one was there. An automatic door opened and then an alarm went off. I didn’t understand what checking was because there was 3 separate kiosk things at the entrance. We get the alarm to shut off and head for the unit. We find the unit and it’s definitely not the size they described. Definitely not worth the more than 90 dollars a month. Then they didn’t even leave my padlock inside so my locker is now just sitting there with my stuff inside…unlocked. Called the after hours manager phone because I couldn’t figure out how to check out and I got no answer. I have had nothing but a horrible experience . Do not use uhaul

Unfortunately, when I went to get my stuff after making my payment, I was welcomed with an alarm going off and the system was telling me I had no access. After trying to reach the on call manager number several times, I decided to just go home. When I called the next day to talk about my experience and how to get my items, I was transferred to the 1800 line several times. The woman was very helpful but it took her half hour to reach someone from the store for me to talk to about getting my items. When I went back to get my items after finally talking to the manager and setting a date, I was told the alarm was going to go off but I can still access my things and empty my storage. Get to my storage unit and there was an over lock after I heard the woman working ask the manager if she should go check it and he told her no. Of course when I went to tell him that there was STILL an over lock on my unit, he blamed the employee for not checking. - I understand that I was the one who came into financial issues but overall this was a terrible experience and as nice as the unit itself was, the entire time my stuff was in there, there was a bulb out in the light above us and I didn't like the way it was so hard to reach any one for help. They definitely should not have charged me the $145 to buy out my storage items if they were going to give me this much of a hassle to get my items. Especially considering what I had to pay to have someone help and watch my child BOTH times I had to go up there and the gas I spent to go just to be told there was access because I can't reach them on the phone. Never again .

However, this was entirely not true; I had to pay for my first months rental and I would get a second months rental for free. Another falsehood was that, I could store gas powered equipment so long as the gas and oil had been drained from the equipment. But when I got to the uhaul facility in NY I was told that the storage of such equipment was not allowed under any circumstance, drained or not. If I had known this in advance, I would not have bothered to load such equipment, there by wasting space on the uhaul truck I had rented. For the advertised free first months rental and the drained gas powered equipment false advertisements, I give uhaul a zero out of ten.

Unless we wanted our ears shattered. The staff didn't enforce face masks so people would come into the building not wearing one. They would stand in the doorway so that others could not even keep a 6 good distance. We turned around and left more than once as we didn't feel safe to go inside. I had called to ask about bigger units being available and I was told they were and to come in to get one. When O got there they said they weren't available and that nothing had been rented that day. They wanted to give me more than one unit to equal the size and that would be inconvenient to me as they wouldn't be next to each other.

They had once in left of the 10x15x10 and when we went to lock it up the lock was broken. I tried to add my husband to our storage unit reservation and no one could help me. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the store and kept going to customer service finally a lady sent a message to the store to have someone call us. We tried calling on Monday one day after storing items to see if they were free to change our lock it went to customer service who said someone would call us and no one did.
