patricia nI went in 2 weeks early to reserve a specific trailer for my move, as I expected it to be busy when I wanted to rent. They told me I had a 5x8 trailer reserved and gave me a quote. No one mentioned that they don’t actually have that trailer and that they were subject to offer other trucks or another location to pick up the one I wanted. And when I brought this to the attention of the owner, she made it seem like it was my fault for not understanding. So instead of paying 100$ for the correct sized trailer, I had to pay 230$ for a truck that was way too big for what I needed. Horrible communication with the customers.

NATALIE GU-Haul customer service on all fronts (in person, over the phone) is subpar. I don’t even want to blame the representatives because it just seems like it’s the company’s culture. U-Haul policies are also strange and not customer friendly so I will definitely be avoiding U-Haul in the future.

JOSEPH MWonderful staff. I was returning a 10 foot, getting a van, and needed to get 'stuff' out of the 10 and into the van. The staff was great in being my spotter for backing the two rigs together; for navigating me around the new van - which was also new to them. We all tried to figure out, together, how the new van actually worked. They were smiling, happy, knowledgable, and very supportive in every way. I would not hesitate to highly recommend, in all ways. The business was clean, well organized, just a great experience.

Richard HTrailer was not in proper working order when I picked it up. Either the tongue was bent or there was a problem with the suspension so that the trailer angled out to the driver's side significantly. This resulted in uneven wear to the towing vehicle and impaired handling.

U-Haul should’ve been used 24hrs, I repeatedly communicated w/multiple staff I still have truck since it’s taking me longer. Now company message stating they will report truck stolen. I am unhappy with my whole entire experience, along with being emotionally and mentally stressed out with my move. Then I hear employee giggling on the phone when my alarm triggers opening my unit door.

About 3 months ago, I got locked in the stairwell while trying to access my unit. There was no signage on any of the doors or surrounding areas to inform users that the stairs would be locked and not to use them. At the time of the incident, there was only about 45 minutes left until the office was closing. This was an unacceptable event to occur. Upon returning to Flagstaff after summer to clear out my unit, there was still no signage placed on or near the doorway of the stairs. This is dangerous and unmaintainable while users operate in the building.

SUSAN B | First ImpressionsI specifically told him I was coming in with a 15-ft U-Haul and asked what are the dimensions that I need to unload and was specifically given the wrong information by Johnny when I tried to reserve a unit 4 months ahead of time to prevent the very problem that I run into because Johnny recommended too small of a unit and I couldn't fit all my stuff into it and Rebecca said there was nothing she could do and made me wait in line twice to even answer the fact that there was nothing she could do. This occurred despite the fact that she was aware I had movers waiting that I was paying by the hour to find out if I had to switch last minute to a larger facility that she said was not available.. and she had no apology or empathy in her voice or any kind of courtesy with the fact that I had made arrangements to reserve the right size unit with Johnny four months ahead of time to avoid the very situation that I was unfairly put in over the phone for that morning when I arrived with movers that I was paying. Johnny was even worse that worked for her and gave me absolutely no expression or any kind of response back when I asked him why he put me in the position he put me in. Meaning neither one of them was concerned with the position that they put me in as a customer and I had to fend for myself and find extra storage somewhere else with what I could not fit into the unit.

Daniel L | Overall ExperienceI originally tried to reserve a 5x10 unit for my daughter on the uhaul app. I was unable to secure a unit using the app so I called the customer service line. Curtis, the customer service agent, helped me reserve a unit. After speaking with Curtis, I received a text to complete the reservation and was able to pay for the first month's rent. When my daughter went to the storage facility, the attendant could not find the reservation. My daughter told the attendant to look under both her name and my name. The attendant claimed that there was no reservation and said that there were no 5x10 units available. The attendant then told my daughter that she can rent a storage box which my daughter did since she had boxes with her to put into storage. The attendant also told her that she would have to give U-Haul 24 hours notice each time she wants to have access to the box. My daughter then called me to say that there was no reservation. I called U-Haul to express my frustration and disappointment and to request a refund of my money which she agreed to do. As of today, I have not received my refund.

john f | Overall ExperienceI reserved a 10x20 storage unit a week or two before we moved to Flag from Los Angeles and even spoke to the manager who let me know that we'd be moving into two 10x10 units since they didn't have a 10x20 – we were completely fine with this. The manager confirmed our two units and we moved on. Once we arrived in Flagstaff to move into our units, the lady helping me at the front desk said they didn't have two 10x10 units available for us, so we had to reserve a 10x15 unit instead and barely fit all our belongings in it. I completely understand things like this happen, I just wish the manager would've have confirmed the units for us unless they were actually going to be there when we arrived. Otherwise, the office staff were helpful and apologetic upon our arrival.

The 2 - 5 x 10's were almost a problem, but eventually worked for us. Other than that, everything was great and Sam was great when we closed the units! I would recommend this U-Haul facility to anyone.

Never renting here again. No help and they just said tough luck.

Upon moving into my storage unit there was someone else’s furniture inside. Some staff don’t know answers to basic questions and the staff that they refer to are borderline rude.

Ava H | Online Move InAfter reserving a Storage Unit, three weeks before, when I got to the site to check in, the unit I was confirmed for was unavailable due to a leak in the facility, and that was the only one of that size they had. There seems to be a disconnect between u-haul.com and the facility’s ability to communicate, and make those revisions necessary online. Customer is left to find out this news only when they check in The on-site GM wouldn’t or couldn’t give me a similar unit for the same confirmed price on the first floor, which was my priority. It’s hard to know if it’s really an issue with U-Haul organization or the GM at the site location. Either way it was not a positive experience. I will say, once I got to my unit, I was pleased with the cleanliness and ease of accessibility to the building.

Lora T | First ImpressionsI would have given an Excellent rating but there aren't enough carts for more than 6 people to move in/out with. They are very small compared to other storage facilities. We moved in on the 30th of the month, and the 1 elevator was slow to get back to each floor with all the people using this facility at the end of the month (and it isn't even half full yet!). The mattress carts are very narrow and useless with large mattresses (which defeats the purpose!). Lastly, it appears that they are filling the 3 story facility from the top-down, and the outside-in, meaning you get the units furthest from the elevator, and several stories higher than needed, requiring more elevator trips! It is extremely aggravating to walk your belonging past dozens of move-in ready units to get to the very last one!! Just seems dumb at best.

The staff told me “we’re supposed to use it(online reservations) but we dont.” I also did not get the month of storage that I had a code for in the online reservation. When I asked, I was told I did not qualify for the free month. The doors did not respond to the key pad reliably. We frequently had to use the pedestrian door in order to access the building as the loading doors would not open. The advertised facility hours were not what was implemented. 24 hour access was advertised but it was only open during office hours.

I will have to find another storage facility as soon as I can. After a long wait, it’s a mad rush to get everything unloaded and make sure you have what you need before closing. If you forget anything … too late. Not only are the units more expensive by comparison but then if you forget anything and remember after hours, you find yourself at the store buying things you already have but can’t get to because UHaul’s access hours suck. So despite the wonderful manager and employees, I will be looking for another place to keep my things.

So rather than waiting for a call I went in to get a unit. Still upset as I was told time and time again the call log would be one of the first people in the building and we would be called when the location opened. That never happened . Had to call 5 total times in the month of August just to figure out they were even allowing people in.

She then did not know how to check me into a rental. Need some training on that you have a lot of empty units to rent and they’ll need to know how to use your system. I’m irritated you have so many empty and available ground floor units and you wouldn’t give up your best real estate to first customers. Loved the elevator super grateful, was spacious enough for everything I had. The carts are a lifesaver. Made everything super convenient The inside of the uhaul literally said first month free with a 1-way rental. Confused as to why free=$249.00 Staff seemed annoyed that we were moving in. Got a 4:30 reminder they were closing at 5 and the door will be locked even though we were down to a few large items left to move in. She was gracious enough to allow us to fully unload the uhaul, into the unit I just spent $250 on, from the truck I just spent $700 on and $400 for gas. I’m not sure how much you pay your employees but for me, that’s a very large amount of money to budget. . And to not feel appreciated or respected as a paying customer was a little frustrating. Just didn’t appreciate the pressure simply because you don’t have your access figured out. I received a PIN number that opens the door and then was told it’s not working. . Not my fault you don’t have it together, and not your associates that are off at 5 either. You should have a plan for that in place without forcing your employees to stay late in case a customer needs to finish unloading 15 minutes. She was visibly annoyed, and so was I. We could have unloaded much faster…. Into one of the many many available ground floor units.. but I had to ride the fancy elevator 20 times, and she had to wait 20 minutes after her shift was over. There are huge puddles throughout your dirt parking lots, you get a lot of rain and snow you should have better plan for property management. Again, gorgeous brand new storage facility. You should consider better directional signage when it comes to rentals, returns, storage, etc. with all the additions you all have done. And the multiple entrances you now have. Huntington is a busy little street easy to turn into the wrong entrance then have to dodge lakes and 50 trucks and trailers to make your way back. Did appreciate the same day rental and move in, very convenient. Your associate indicated they would walk me through after hours drop off of my U-Haul truck, that didn’t happen but that was nice of them to offer? I guess? The lot was full of trucks returning, well organized chaos and a lot of inventory to manage impressive job. I’m only hoping to utilize your gorgeous facility for a month or two but I hope this feedback helps!

Upon entering the unit, the fire suppression pipes running through the top of the unit effectively reduce the usable space to just over 5' tall. This unit (potential renters should be advised of this before renting and units like this should not be rented for the same price as a unit that has full use of a 6' ceiling.

I didn't need her to come in and yell at me and my guest and tell me to hurry up by 7 pm even though the storage unit doesn't close till 10pm as per contract.
