JOSEPH GThe staff is friendly and helpful. Too bad the abandoned mall the storage facility is located is not secure and prone to break ins and trespassing. Also some of the outside keypads don't function. This is not U Haul of Galesburg's fault but rather the owner of the abandoned mall the business is located in. The staff keeps the storage facility clean, but the florescent lights are falling, especially towards the rear of the facility. If I were the business owner I'd be upset with the mall ownership. This used to be a 24 hour facility, but with the break-ins and no security they are now 12 hours only.

MICHAEL ROnly problem is that the key pads for entry are not working. I don't think that is the fault of the staff though. Hopefully the key pads will be fixed soon. I also understand that there are not entry cards available to use at the key pads.

Which required the" man door" to be unlocked during accessible hours. 24 hour access was not available for the past 3-4 months, access was only during office hours. The young lady who helped me with the trailer asked me if I would like to have her help hook it up and I said "sure". She did a great job and I was pleased to see that the tires were inflated to the correct level and everything worked great. The trailer pulled easily, and I had no problems. Yes I would recommend to others.

KAREN LUhaul trailer rented was very good, no problems with the trailer. The problem is Uhaul's policy and process to charge me more for what was a 5 hour trip and force me to rent a 3 day timeframe as it what there policy shows. Policies need to be reviewed and modified. I would expect like a car rental to be cheaper if only 24 hour elapsed time is used on rental instead of 72 hours that contract forced booked and charged for. This seems very wrong.
ROGER KThe hours recently changed, which was helpful. Closing at 5 PM made it extremely difficult to access my storage after work. I hope they keep the extended hours to 7:00 or even later.

Nancy B | Overall ExperienceMy husband had to move big furniture by himself, including a large refrigerator. We rented a truck and a dolly. Went to the location and there were no dolly’s available. They did give my husband a truck with a ramp but he still had to drag slide and struggle to get out large side by side refrigerator in there. My refrigerator now has a big dent in the front and my husbands back is sore. All of which could have been avoided if you had the equipment we reserved.

JOHN SPaid $49.95 for a 5x5 and then upgraded to a 5x10 got told by the manager it would be $20 more to upgrade which we didn’t have a problem paying. Got there to switch everything and they charged my wife’s card $94. Said something to the guy and said I was misinformed on the price then when I asked for a refund they wanted to try and charge my card again for another $94. Heck no. I walked out. Worse experience yet!

From George who helped me understand how it all worked, what size of vehichle I would need, to the gentleman who signed me in and out in Galesburg, everone was nice to work with. And, it ended up being an inexpensive way to get my stuff moved 50 miles. The only thing that would make it better is if each vehichle came with magical powers to carry all that stuff! 😁

Swipe once to get in, swipe another time at a different reader to open the door. And then every time the door shut I had to keep swiping the card to let me in. It was just frustrating because we were trying to unload in a hurry. I understand the security aspect of it, but to swipe every few minutes was annoying.

Then the place didn't have a truck ,had to go another place for the truck,another place for the dolly. Got to storage the unit had a lock on it,had to switch to another unit, thought everything was okay, nope,my unit had another lock saying it was paid. Went to the office found out the guy that set me up never changed things in the computer. Big mess,my key wouldn't unlock my unit. They had to get a ladder to peek over and asked me what was in it. Had to get permission to cut the lock off,so I can get into my unit.Finally got everything straighten out thanks to Brian,he was a big help. Oh and when the other guy was there never answered the phone.

I used a little more than a week, went in on a Saturday and saw live roaches. Got everything out except for a couch and chair and when I came back 2 Days later they must have sprayed cuz there were numerous dead ones in the locker on the floor. I was not happy as I will not put these in my house now or cannot until I am sure they are roach free. I asked for a discount since I was out more than 2 weeks early, but no go. Beware! They do spray but apparently waited a little too long.

But I don't fault the staff for that as it being an all access place people (customers) tend to do what they want and trash the bathroom. Outside of that everything was top notch. Staff is always super friendly and highly professional. Rick (the manager) is excellent at his job and he has the best employees with an impeccable sense of customer service. The service is fast and they are always happy to help. The next time my family moves this location will be the first I call. We will also be taking advantage of the moving crew as well next time. Will happily suggest this location to anyone who needs moving services.

However, this experience was not great as it took over 30 minutes to find an open storage unit and get everything situated. The first storage unit they gave me had people actively moving furniture in it. The process was just frustrating yesterday, but it ultimately all worked out. I got my stuff put into my new storage unit- just took way longer than I anticipated. My first time storing here was great- was in and out very quickly. This time however, it seemed that the employees were unfamiliar with the system and the polices. I asked about delivering items to the facility and they claimed they never have done that. Well the sign directly behind them stated that you can ship items and the employees can sign for you. All I wanted to know is if I got something delivered, I could come by the same day and put it in my unit. I left frustrated as they had no clear answer.

Danny L | Overall ExperienceMy rental unit was to have a lock for use in the unit and there was not one. I had to leave my items unsecured and go purchase an affordable lock myself.
Amy W | Online Move InI tried to purchase a lock from this UHaul facility and it didn't work properly. When it came time to exchange the lock for a refund, the manager (Timothy Guerrero) could not figure out how to process the refund. I left the store on Sunday, July 3, 2022, without a refund and a less-than-satisfactory feeling. When I cleaned out my small space after one month, I checked out successfully -- without incident. However, went I went to retrieve an item (I Pass transponder) that I had left behind during a previous rental, I was told by the assistant manager, Dillon Barnes, "that it was a good thing that I found it. I'm surprised the manager didn't toss it out." That same manager saw me on Saturday, July 16, when I successfully cleaned out my storage space, and chose not to come to the counter when I was ready to check out. Why? I'm not sure. I was also promised some type of UHaul VIP certificate to compensate for some of the lack of customer service that I have received over the past three weeks. It has yet to applied to my bank account, and the amount promised (appx. $246) is insufficient to cover these latest round of poor performance on the part of UHaul. I'm sorry to report this. We had to return our truck on 1/1/2021 but due to an incoming snow storm the store was closed. We contacted the 1-800 for guidance because we had stuff to put into storage and didn't have any storage unit info yet. They advised that we take the truck back home and return it when the store reopened. We showed up the next morning and Dillon showed us around the facility as well as guided us to our unit. The whole process couldn't have been easier! Stress-free experience which is greatly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work!!

Only thing that would make this place better is having a way for loading/unloading for pull out forward because it made it a little difficult when you pull up not knowing someone is in there and they can only get out by backing up which made us go around the store then park somewhere off to the side til they was done.
