Tim VThis experience was adequate but not great, but there are bigger issues with the company vs the location. I'm not supportive of the policy of having to call someone on the spot in order to receive your rental. The sizes listed on the trailers are misleading to the actual usable sizes. At personnel had miscommunication and experienced technical issues, all which worked to significantly delay my rental window. The staff were knowledgeable and worked to solve the problems, but this was not a pleasant experience.
DONALD GIf you give a free storage rental with the rental of a truck , you should be able to select the date that you need not a date that is not useful to the customer, I reserved my truck 3 weeks before it was needed & giving the free month of storage from your initial reservation date doesn’t make sense, you need the storage when you unload your truck once you get to your destination, when I arrived at the Glenwood IL location, I did not have a storage unit available & had to be inconvenienced by going to another location to unload a their storage unit, when I had manpower ready to unload at the Glenwood location, spending more gas & time to do so common sense should be applied U-haul should be the experts, BUT I GUESS THAT I WAS WRONG VERY UN-SATISFIED WITH THE END OF MY 1,000 MILE JOURNEY!

CHARLES PI reserved my 15' box truck the day before. Upon pick up 3/1/25 at 8:52am I was told the return time is 5pm along with other details. I corrected the Uhaul agent, telling him I reserved it for 8am to 8pm. Around 6pm I noticed a missed call on my phone from Uhaul. Asking where the truck is as my retuen time is5pm. After a bit of back and forth I was told it could not be changed and I got charged an additional $42. This is on Uhaul to remedy overcharging my card without my approval. Contact me at 708-351-2908.

DIANE JI nearly waited longer than I rented the vehicle for a receipt. I was constantly passed on to someone else. It took more than 30 minutes to get someone to print out my receipt. The lady that was waiting on me grabbed her purse and told me someone else would help me as she walked out the door. She also stated that my vehicle was checked in. When I did finally get help, I was told that she moved the vehicle and never checked it in. I thought customer service was important.

SHEREE SI was disappointed in the fact that the snow had not been removed from around the units and there were pockets of ice! I mentioned it to the office staff and was informed that salt would be applied to the grounds. However, when I returned later in the day, nothing had been done. Also, the truck that I rented smelled of marijuana to the point that I had to drive with the window partially opened.
TRACY BWell I would go to storage during early hours & every time I would have to go in office to get someone to unlock the glass doors which was an inconvenience. If you close out your storage the same day as your payment is do you are still charged.

ARNETTE WThe system was down which resulted in me spending over 30 minutes at the location when I had already booked online. I was expecting an expedited process. The team didn’t do anything that made the wait time feel welcoming. The downtime was also counted against my time for the reservation and I feel that should’ve been adjusted accordingly. Upon returning the equipment the guy who checked us in didn’t seem like he knew what was going on at all. He kept giving me the incorrect order total and refund amount from the hold that was placed on my account. He also made us move the trailer from the spot I was told to pull up for drop off when I took it. Overall the process was less than desirable but the location is close to home.

Tyrone CAlthough the gentleman that assisted me was very pleasant and patient, I was told the trailer I wanted to rent was only available if I dropped it off at another location. That was inconvenient but I didn't mind. After processing my rental for 15 minutes or so, I was told the rate was more than DOUBLE what my cost would've been if I could just return it to the same location. I was told "Well, that's the one-way rate." I DIDN'T WANT THE ONE-WAY RATE but wasn't told ahead of time it would be more than double the cost. Before we proceeded I should have been told if there was a different charge for one-way. That would've allowed me to simply rent an actual vehicle for half the cost! I will be following up with corporate to request free future rentals or a refund to what I would've been charged had it been a standard rental returning to the same facility. I rent from this facility several times a year and this was not an acceptable way to process this transaction.

They never mentioned that we needed to sign an abandonment letter until nearly 6 months later and after $900 if additional fees were assessed. The manager is utterly ridiculous

As far as the floor in the storage area, toward the end of my rental time, I noticed a change where the cleaning staff was not cleaning thoroughly and regularly. I would come daily and find the same papers and objects and garbage outside in the hallway of the inside storage unit. Still further, one occasion prior to when Miss Carter took over, there were people living inside their storage unit full: cooking, eating, toilet, etc., and running the electric off of the socket and the wall, that all patrons were paying for. Miss Carter herself was extremely helpful. Yes, I probably would recommend the facility for people who need storage, but I would also advise them about the cleanliness, and the fact that in the area of the restrooms, you really do not feel safe. Sometimes there were also some homeless people in that area, and I did not know how they got in because this facility is secure and carded.

The first time I went overdue, I received no warning, no email, no phone call, no letter, no information that my payment wasn't received. It wasn't until my emergency contact got a paper letter, less than one week away from the threatened lockdown date. This is insane. The second time, same thing. No call, no notice whatsoever that my NEW payment card didn't go through. My unit was locked within 5 days of being late. I won't be working with uhaul again on this.

I went to that location to store my things and drop off the truck. They told me that they would be charging me double my travel fee that I charge for a one-way trip to work to where I am. I am now at this very moment going back to the first location because they told me I could not bring that truck there or they would charge me. I only am I headed to the first place. I am now been given a text message that says to take it back where I just came from so the service was Horrible.

I did not know I needed a major credit card to reserve vans and pickup trucks. And when asked how much the 10’ truck was she said $19.95 plus over-mileage and failed to tell me that the deposit was $100 dollars. My purpose for getting a van to move stuff was so I didn’t run out gas on my car but the equivalent of the gas was about the same as the truck/van. and she spoke at the sound of a whisper she talked SO quietly.

What I do disagree with is the refund policy in place , whereas if one of your clients decides to terminate 8 days into the month they will not be refunded for the remaining 22 days allowing uhaul to double dip on storage fees. They couldn’t find my storage info or items until FEBRUARY and told me that month month along with the first 2 months would be free since they couldn’t find it December or January! I moved in DECEMBER 3rd!!!! Come to find out they charged me for February even added a late fee. I called and spoke with someone and he advised my card had to be set up on auto pay to remove late fee. Go figure. All in all horrible experience, and uhaul still got paid for February with my card on autopay. What a joke!!!

In addition, as I was legally parked in the disabled parking area... the clerk asked me to move my vehicle so he can back up a truck. Many uhaul vehicles were parked obstructing the disabled parking and when I told the clerk that was illegal and not proper... he told me that theb u haul vehicles that are parked in the disabled parking was OK. Hmmmmm Hoping some one will become familiar with state and local laws on disabled parking laws.

Tera W | First ImpressionsThis is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I had a schedule pick up for 2 o’clock for a moving truck. I also wanted to establish a lease for a storage unit. What should have been a simple transaction was delayed by unprofessional and at times, in competent staff. When I first arrived, there were two patrons in front of me. When it was my turn, the 3 associates were talking and joking among themselves loudly. I had to redirect the gentleman who was cashing me out several times. They continued to be okay around and continue to use vulgar language. When the associate finally completed my order, I was shown to my unit. The associate instructed me to use the key card to access my unit. When I swiped my card, the associates name appeared on the screen. I informed the associate and he said he would fix it. We go back to the front desk and associate says he is working on it. He hands me the key card and we try again; access still denied and the associates name was still showing. At this point it is after 3 o’clock. My son was growing anxious so I left to get him something to eat. When I came back associates states issue was resolved. When I attempted to access key pad, a name “Sherise” appeared. I informed the associate that was not my name. At this point I was really upset and needed to leave to start moving. This whole experience delayed my move and was an extreme inconvenience! Lastly I never received a contract for my storage unit. I also was never informed of the hours and made a blank trip because I was denied access to my unit. Overall, one of the worst experiences ever!!!
SELECE D | First ImpressionsJust a couple of concerns it’s really difficult to lock your storage unit at a certain time at night That is knowing how to set the alarm correctly, unfortunately when we came back to unload our storage unit after 10 PM at night and we were locked out . The whole process is very confusing. And also another concern this doesn’t have anything to do with the storage but the lady that I spoke with on customer service just told us we needed one storage unit and that would’ve not been enough room for us but thankfully the staff had an extra one on hand that we could rent. I probably won’t do business with U-Haul overall because our moving experience was very stressful and the customer service was not too good there was a couple of representatives that were very unkind that I spoke to on the phone I’m definitely going to do business with another moving company. I will say the local staff at the storage unit they were very kind and helpful.

Lakeesha P | First ImpressionsThe reason I answered question #1 no is because this facility has a significant security issue that can be corrected quickly, easily, and at no cost to you. The overhead doors of the indoor loading bay are activated by motion detectors, when a vehicle approaches the overhead door it opens automatically which causes two problems. First, it allows customers into the facility without checking in by swiping their card. When they go to their lockers and open the alarms sound. This happens frequently. Secondly, and far more importantly, the automatic overhead door openers allows non-customers to enter the facility which poses a profound security issue. By simply turning off, or removing, the automatic door opener sensors it will require customers to check in with their swipe card to gain access to the facility and prevent non-customers' access. This is a HUGE opportunity to improve safety and security at your facility for the benefit of both your customers and for U-Haul.

Then we were forced to redo the entire reservation, and we were given a location at the back of the facility which is too far for us due to my being disabled, I asked for a unit at the front where we were able to find units which were empty and had no locks. The young man had no idea how to find and switch to those units. We came back and a different person told us the front section where we identified the open units was not officially opened yet, and he had no way to put us on a wait list for those units. He could not tell me when this section would open and I needed to call back every day until it did. Wow, This is inefficient and not customer focused. I called today to see if the section is open. The answering service says they will leave a message with the facility staff.

I asked for a pro-rated refund OR the option to apply some of the $100 to the UHaul rental. I never asked for the full amount back. I didn't expect that. However, I spent over $1000 in rentals and the incredulous manner in which my requests were met with left a horrible taste in my mouth. Especially given current events. There are PLENTY of other UHaul or competitor locations out there. I'll be using and recommending other options for my next move and storage needs.
