We brought this home and we noticed the tire had some wobble to it in line with the fender, we drove 6 miles home and checked the tire and it some large scrape going on and wore deep into the tread. I called the dealer and they said call road service and have them repair or bring it back for exchange. We were leaving soon with a car on the dolly and time was tight. We called roadside and they showed quick and swapped the tire but it was also rubbing on the fender. He returned with the proper tire and all was great from that point on.

Michael fThe rental charges are irregular format. When putting question to the desk, the peoples start reducing the rent. It is not fairly acceptable. The business must be genuine. I rent the truck for a day and I returned with in a day just used only 6 hours. I walk the next working to make a payment. The rental calculation was not incorrect. I raised the voice, the executive reduced $19.95. The most worst thing is again they haven't made me as paid. So next few days again I have charged with late fees and not used rental charges of 2nd day. The crazy thing I have suddenly raised the compliant. The peoples approached me via chat is not digestible. The chat support told me "you have been charged correctly" my manager is working on your invoice to revert me. waiting for 2 days reply from manager is I'm waving off so and so incorrect charges. is it really good. Needs some attention to business from top managements. Thanks

Bill BTerrible customer service. Came there with a huge problem. All we needed to do was get a lot cut off one of our units or we would’ve had to drive all the way back to 28 mile distance. The people at Uhaul decided that they were not gonna be able to cut our lock off and they told us we should get a locksmith. In addition, they would not let us borrow the bold cutters to cut it off because of some reason. Instead, they wanted us to drive around with the fully loaded truck to go and buy a new set of bolt cutters and came back to cut our two locks which she would not do. Totally ridiculous and very very very unprofessional. The attendant was talking to someone else when I walked over and decided to stop talking to the other client and asked me what I wanted instead of taking care of one person first. As soon as we told him, we needed him to help us out. He always already started barking. We knew it was 6:45 and he was not gonna stay late. That’s the only reason. Very sad. Very poor employee, and that’s the same person. We’ve had issues in the past when he called to find out where the truck was when we actually had it rented for an entire day and it was only four hours into the rental. He said he was going home and he needed to get back before he left. Again terrible service. Good luck there.

Sergii TI feel apprehensive for these comments, but feel they are important. This location was used as a result of the Operations/Scheduling team at U-Haul. We were working with Crystal Lake and were prepared to pick up the truck at that location. Operations changed the location due to Crystal Lake NOT being a one way location. NOT TRUE per the Crystal Lake location! Regardless, we made the 45 minute trip to Grayslake. The vehicle wasn't ready, the trailer was antique at best. The location was understaffed and it took 90 minutes to get the rental completed and us out the door. In addition, rental pads were not provided and we had to go to Crystal Lake to get them. We feel this overall poor performance was a result of the Scheduling/Operation team making it convenient for U-Haul, not the customer.

This occurred in St Louis and i stopped to get help from a uhaul location, and the man told me there were no uhaul employees present. We attempted to call road aide assistance and it was estimated 40 min just to talk with someone. We called uhaul locations on the way and they were closing between noon and four. Of course none close to us. I feel this was poor cistomer service on uhauls customer sercice.

I will never rent from U-Haul again when your competitors offer a set military discount and actually give it. Had it not been the day I needed it I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere. Also U-Haul changed my pickup location the day before pickup creating another inconvenience for me.

Mark KThe truck had a cylinder misfire that should have been noticed. The truck would start to buck when climbing hills, because of the lack of power. When we went to return online, we didn't realize we had to stay on site to do this. It was late and we were tired and thought we could do this on the way home Recommend a statement that says on the return sign do not leave this facility before your online sign in is complete. Also might mention there is a $20 penalty fee if you don't do the online return if it's after hours. Maybe there is a reason for this fee, but when I was checking in U-Haul's that were returned after hours it was always nicer to be able to take my time to check in them in. rather than when a customer was waiting. I was a dealer for 9 years at a mt prospect location.

I don't feel the staff was very friendly... The rate kept going up, I didn't receive anything more I had automatic payment, never late and no reward... I think I could have been grandfathered in, less rate increase. let the new people pay the higher rate. I was using storage there for 7 years. Employee said he could put me in an outdoor unit, after reserving an indoor climate controlled unit with no discount or anything to help the situation. I was then confused about where to punch in my code to get the gate open and walked back into the office to ask the employee where the code goes to get the gate open and he was so so unnecessarily rude to me about it, and was just a real jerk about me asking after not being able to figure it out based off of his crude drawing. It seemed like that is just how he thinks he can speak to people which is so far from okay it is not even funny. He was an older man with grey hair and glasses and he alone made this an incredibly poor experience and is the reason I will not use U-Haul in the future.

She has excellent customer service skills and should be commended for her great job performance. It is difficult to find that these days but she should get a raise 😊. I wish I knew her name but I do not. We were there on Saturday morning July 1st so I’m sure you will know who I mean. The facility is clean and easy to navigate.

I was informed regarding my storage options. I chose to reserve a large climate controlled storage unit for my move-in date of 6/1. When I arrived on 6/1, the unit I reserved was not available due to online reservations bumping me out of the reservation line. U-Haul NEEDS TO FIX THAT! Dan at the store was extremely helpful & patient in accommodating me with substitutions and payment considerations. I still ended up renting yet one more unit on 6/7 when I moved all my belongings. It was disappointing to have to add and pay monthly for one more storage unit. Yet, the staff at the store were again very accommodating & helpful in providing me one more ground floor climate controlled storage unit so my move could be completed. The facility is Clean and well monitored! Moving is stressful! Kudos to the Grayslake staff for their knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to help!

I booked my truck for 5 hours (5 p.m until 10 p.m.) pack up my truck and return to the Grayslake location to locate my new storage unit outside. Earlier that day I was given a key card . I was told this key would open the back gate . When I did return there was no where to swipe the card to get into the outside units. I called the number that was provided on the gate for Dan but was sent to voicemail 2-3 times in a row. I seen a sign that say use your remote to open the gate. I never was given one. I was so frustrated because I was not provided with good information.

When I first arrived, I asked if I could see the unit before committing to it because I will be renting it for a long period of time. I was told no. After all the paperwork, when I went to see the unit, there was a HUGE pillar/pipe in the unit. I had to go back to the office and they quickly found me another unit, but this could have all been avoided from the beginning. These are the experiences I’ve had that led me to ask if I could see the unit in the first place. Otherwise, I like this facility. It’s clean and for the most part I feel safe.

Kevin V | First ImpressionsOne of the reasons for the poor rating falls under"not maintened" is because the security gate was up 90% of the time - meaning my unit was not secure. Anyone could get in, cut a lock and wipe out someone's storage space. Also, the site is so big, there aren't enough staff member to support it. Long waits for returns, paperwork for storage units, etc. I submitted my move out online, 2 days before it was to renew. 6 days later I received a notice that a late fee had been assessed because the move out was never processed.

Also the frist guy helpimg in the middle of my reservation when askimg him a question walked away in the middle of are conversation to answer a personal call and i thought that was very unprofessional in middle of working with a paying client who had questions and wanted to by a lock. To answer the phone for a freind the staff differently need better training as i reserved my unit online two hr before i should up and it still took him an hour to get my unit because he was confused on how the system worked amd had to answer his friends phone call instead of finishing up with the client. So overall i need strogae fast and i have two units there now but will be reloacting to a new stoarge because of the experience.

He gave us a refund later but it took a lot of time to process. Also, he did not tell us that there would be a green plastic tie on the unit and we would need a knife to cut it off to open it. We did not have a knife, and when we used the intercom to ask for one, no one responded to it. Luckily, we were able to find another customer who had a knife so we didn’t have to walk back to the office to get one.

Paying the worst monthly rental rate on their books. They are not the only self-storage service in the area, I am certain of THAT!

Tim and Garrett will tirelessly work to get you the vehicle you need or the storage unit that will accommodate your belongings. The general manager Dan and Emily are equally as cordial and friendly. I say this without exaggeration, they truly go above and beyond here to get customers what they need. I won't go anywhere else... Even if another place is close by, make the trip here. It's worth it.

Also the insurance options were not fit for me - it was either too little or too much, so I feel like I overpaid because I was in between. The access to the storage could be better - another stairs in the middle or something to avoid going to either side when your storage room is in the middle on the upper floor (with no elevator). The price at the end was just $5 cheaper for that inconvenience.

They don’t show you where the swipe card goes they just tell you, it’s out there. Staff lazy, unit is okay for my one month. Bothered by the fact that they offer me a FREE MONTH WITH A truck rental but I would not be able to use the same storage unit. Why? So I have to move it into another? Makes no sense.

Only problem I had was that the auto pay failed to setup three times (I finally had to have an associate set it up) which cost me two months of late fees. Notified staff about the auto pay error with no offer to refund a late fee (both 'late' payments were made the day after the auto pay should have been made). Other than that, it's a nice facility and would use again. Just make sure to have them verify your auto pay.

George P | Overall ExperienceWell I would like to say that I was a tenant there for 5 years and it was great and convenient for me and my co-worker to store our work truck there. The staff was also great and helpful. The manager is great as well !! But it saddens me that when I was told that we had to leave I was quite confused I mean we didn’t cause any trouble and always paid our rent on time. So I asked what was the reason and I was told that the manager was told by corporate to ask people to leave. So I did some digging and found out that the college next to the area where we were parking was complaining about that area. I do agree that some of those spots were not properly maintained by the renters but as they say “ a few bad apples ruin the bunch “ which I don’t understand why not just Toss out the bad ones? I do understand the reasoning for it to not favor one tenant over the other but it’s the right thing to do to keep the good ones. I guess that’s all I have to say, thank you to the staff and manager of the grayslake location!

Renee L | Overall ExperienceI utilized two storage units. One was inside and upstairs. This unit was nice, however it was ANNOYING that the hallway lights were on a timer or based on movement. The lights would always shut off when I was working inside the unit. It forced me to exit the unit and walk halfway down the hallway to trigger the lights to come back on. The other unit I used was outside. Although there was some lighting, they often were not on when necessary (cloudy days, dusk, daylight savings changes, etc) and were not positioned to help see inside of the unit. The one thing I was very unhappy about was the fact that upon move out, my prepayment was not prorated and returned to me. I lost 4 weeks of a refund (December 5 - January 2) and feel that UHaul can now earn double the rent on the same unit when it is re-rented during that time. My recommendations for future U-Haul storage seekers will be to NEVER prepay to avoid this unfairness when moving out.

They majorly screwed up a truck rental for me...In which they didn't even tell me they overbooked...I had to find out 10 hours before I needed that truck for my move the next day. And because of the lack of communication, I had no options to rent from another company to - as the closest company that had a truck available was 200 miles away. After they screwed that up, I, in person, notified them that the units I was renting should not be charged for another month because I was moving everything out the next day (which was before the end of the current month). Yet again, they didn't listen to me and note that in their system, So now I keep getting emails that I'm late on my payments, when in fact, I shouldn't have been charged at all. Simply put, there is a complete lack of communication with customers. I would not recommend this facility.

On the internet, it said that the unit I reserved could store a 1-2 bedroom unit between 1200-1600 square feet. My two bedroom was just over 1000 square feet. When the movers got there, they said no way my stuff would fit in that unit. I was able to upgrade my unit with the help of the staff. It all turned out well, and the staff was amazing! I’d suggest reassessing the size of the units, and their capacity. Especially how they are advertised on the internet.
