ELIZABETH GI was unsure about the overall status of the return. It took some effort to identify that I had returned the truck within the mileage limit and with enough gas. Also that the number of rented pads returned was verified and that the truck was clean to avoid the $25 fee. I am not sure what I would ahve done if they later said the number of pads was wrong or they thought the truck was not clean.
S AThe gentleman who helped us was EXCELLENT. He helped us select multiple kinds of products to protect our belongings, answered all our questions, helped us get the ball hook up attached to our car and made sure the trailer was safely connected before we left. He was friendly, full of joy as he worked, and knew his stuff. I would highly recommend not only U-haul, but this location based on my experience with this exmployee!
VICTORIA CEverything was great … but I did not understand the PIN / access code procedure to “arm” my unit. A kind bystander explained it to me and then I double backed to “check in” for clarification. But the unit cleanliness, on line check in etc were great. Also a great location 👍🏻

I had to take many pictures to prove the truck was fine. No way will I do that again. I will choose attended locations only . Now I have to delete the app and delete all the pictures. Seems like all the work was mine not yours. I liken it unto self check out at grocery store. Why would I pay exact same amount for groceries and do all the work when I can have a checker and bagger ? I wouldn’t. Same with your set up. Did not like it at all and will do my best to never borrow from a self check again as much as possible .
RUTH AEveryone at the Holland, Mi location has been super friendly and helpful. After an exhausting day of loading and unloading stone, it was a relief to have a smiling face disconnect the trailer and quicken the check in process.

STEVEN EOur experience with U-Haul was nothing short of a disaster. It started with the reservation, which we made a month ahead of time. We made numerous subsequent calls to U-Haul to confirm our reservation and each time U-Haul assured us the 20ft truck will be there. We even called just two days before the reservation and again they assured us the truck will be there. And if not, there are many local dealers, U-Haul will have no problem getting us a 20ft truck. Fine. The day of the rental, there is no truck. U-Haul simply says, “Sorry, there is nothing we can do.” So, just like the Seinfeld episode (with the rental car), we discover that U-Haul is good at “TAKING the reservation, but not very good at KEEPING the reservation.” We asked what about all those trucks in the lot? U-Haul says, “Sorry, those are only for local moves.” How about a larger truck? U-Haul says, “Sorry, we don’t have any.” How about a smaller truck? U-Haul says, “Okay, here’s a 15ft truck.” We took it although it was way too small, and we packed it to gills. We also rented an auto transport and U-Haul loaded the car onto it for us (and that was nearly a disaster too). Before we left the U-Haul store, a nice woman at U-Haul did a walk around with us showing the damages to the truck (there were many, it had 85,000 miles), but there was no written summary provided to us. Big mistake. While we were driving along the interstate, we saw an unfortunate couple with a U-Haul truck and an auto transport in the shoulder … and their car had fallen off of the auto transport! The car was severely damaged. At our next stop for gas, I checked our auto transport and one of the belts holding our car wheels had come off! There was just one belt and two safety chains holding it! We reattached the disconnected belt and kept a close eye on it the rest of the trip. Thankfully, it did not disconnect again. After we arrived at our destination, we unloaded the truck and the car and returned the truck and the auto transport to U-Haul. The clerk went outside, examined the truck and auto transport, and closed our reservation. We also received an email with a receipt showing $0 due, paid in full. However, the next day we received a suspicious email from U-Haul with another invoice, this time for $215, and showing a charge to our credit card for $215 for a “Missing or Damage Charge.” Farther down the receipt in fine print it read, “Looks like they hit a tree limb. Very damaged corner cap.” “Hit a tree limb???” On the interstate?? I assured them we did not hit a tree limb, nor anything else for that matter. I asked them to review the summary report from our walk-around inspection before we departed, and U-Haul said, “We don’t have one.” Ugh, we should have requested one. We have subsequently spoken with U-Haul several times since then, and they said someone from Corporate will be contacting us. We still have not heard from them.

I noticed I had accidentally rented a utility dolly but explained that we didn't need it. I was told it would be taken off the bill. It was never taken off, not noted in the rental agreement that I did not take one. That forced the drop off location to call and have it taken off my bill. When I dropped off our truck in Marquette, the person there asked if I had been told about how to make sure the gas tank would be returned at the same level by the clerk in Holland. I had not, just lucked out in estimating how much to fill it. Overall, things were fine, just didn't seem like the person at our pick up location in Holland was ready for customers.

DOUGLAS SDriver Brandy is awesome! True professional and great problem-solver. The people on the phone are always nice and helpful. One thing that would be helpful -- your website and app don't always work to make changes. The buttons don't "click" or it doesn't connect so you can take actions. Otherwise we have had a wonderful experience with Uboxes and Storage (primarily with the Holland, MI location).

Steven OWhen I was talking to the woman and signing all the paperwork she stopped twice, once to talk to the other worker about something unrelated to my needs, and another time she stopped working on my needs and talked with another customer behind me who had not asked her any questions. She gave me the key and directed me to one part of the parking lot where the truck was not located, and I had to go back and ask where it was parked. She asked her coworker sitting next to her to go get the appliance dolly, but he didn't. So, after I found the truck, I had to go find someone to get the dolly and wait for it. Then I drove the truck, and it was not a good experience. It was a dog, it lacked power, it sounded like it was not shifting smoothly. There were so many trucks on the lot, and I think there were several better than the one I got, that one should have been use as a last resort. I have rented several trucks and this was the worst experience, usually I am very satisfied. The check in process was great.

James HTerrible customer service. No one was available to help inside. I had to go seek out a woman who was blasting music and had no idea I was approaching. When talking with her I tried to explain how the person i booked with online reserved the wrong size trailer. I asked if she had any other sizes available and she said they were all reserved for other clients. I called the store talked to another person across the country because you can't ever get through to them locally. This guy was able to reserve the right size for me at the same location without issues. I go back inside and wait another 15 minutes for the same lady to come help me. I said do you have this size available or did the guy online give me false info. She said I never said we don't have any. She told me I said that to her. I said definitely not. She was terrible at explaining anything. It was all very frustrating. Another lady helped connect the hitch and check lights. She was very pleasant.

The building is secure but the smell is overwhelming and sticks to everything in those units. Family members were gagging because of the smell.

She was working as fast as she could but was obviously needing some. The process probably would have been streamlined if I was able to do any of the things the app advertised as perks. For example, the app suggested that I should just check-in online but this was not actually possible.

Communication between LLC to provide otr service was poor and lackluster. Also I paid my storage bill 5 days before I moved and emptied it bit couldn't be prorated for 25 days I didn't use it. Sounds pretty scummy. At least add it to others who lost their stuff during tough times. Should heard the aholes that were taking the locks off people property. No shame. No heart. Just spoiled greedy young men all about the dollar. Sad.

There was a man and a woman moving in tonight on the 3rd floor that kept setting off the alarm while we were trying to move in with a blaring alarm going off so loud we couldn't talk to eachother. I told the man he had to also put his code in the after hours one and he did not care, he just said he "bypasses it" meanwhile I got a migraine from. The alarm he kept setting off and not caring about it at all. How is the facility safe if that is allowed to happen? We had to stop unloading the truck before we were done because I got such a bad migraine amd now I have to take another day off and probably have to pay for another day to unload the truck. Which I now have to do by myself because my husband will be at work.

Indeed, after I received my check out paperwork noticed he even typed in my home address wrong despite having my drivers license to reference. The unit itself was clean and carts to borrow are a nice touch. The limiting hours for access make it challenging though. Check out was easy and convenient. Perhaps consider a simple 2-3 minute professional recorded video to orient new folks to make it more clear and concise. Everyone was friendly except this fellow; hence, the comment all were friendly…except this one. Experience renting the truck was quite smooth and persons checking me in and out was good though. Overall I’d use them again…please consider making signing up for storage units easier and more clear.

I MENTIONED my ADA requirement while renting but found myself wheeling this long cart halfway down narrow passage to a tiny unit. The first month was free (that's a1st in 30 years requently renting multiple days!!! Never a mention of 1st month free unlike most storagevfacilities.) HOWEVER had to return with my vehicle still half loaded due to the pain and stress of getting locked in by 10pm. I'm not DISPUTING here. I will request for a more optimal location as Caleb was very helpful curious and professional. Thanks.

LINDA P | First ImpressionsSecurity did not work. On several occasions when I swiped my unit card, the security system was not working. Why advertise a secure facility if you can’t keep the security system working? The round locks, which are required by UHaul, which I bought from UHaul, are extremely hard to open and close once they are attached to the unit latch. I had to get an employee to open a lock after several people tried and failed to open it. The employee said there was a “trick” to opening them. There is only one elevator to upper floors which is problematic when two or more people need to move in or out, which happened when I moved out. Since movers charge by the 1/4 hour, having one elevator cost me money. The biggest issue is that you do not prorate monthly charges. I moved out 9/9 but had to pay through 9/30. PLEASE rent out my units so I can get some money back. On the plus side, the entire facility is clean and well lit.

The U-Haul unit met our needs. The unit was clean and in good condition. We put a few sticky traps inside just in case something got in. At the end, the traps caught nothing and all of our boxes were in the same condition as when we put them in. Recommended. Staff was helpful too.

I walk inside and he Dosent even greet me and just says “is that your truck on my grass , you best move it”. I then asked if there is a storage shed close to the door , he says no and puts me in one that all the way at the end, just to make it difficult. The screen said there were heaps available. I was supposed to get the first month free and when I said I am supposed to get the first month free he says “I don’t see any record” and I said I’ll just bring the email up and then he says “too late I’ve already charged you and I don’t know how to reverse it” ! I’m stunned at his rudeness. Then when he gives me a security code to enter the facility we go to test it and it fails then we try again and fails. The he said oh well and walks away. I said excuse me , what am I supposed to do, he said oh the system is down. I said well I need a security code that works and he said it’s fine you can just put up with the annoying sound. The check in was so bad , unprofessional , he didn’t wear a mask , I was disgusted !! I tried to call Day the manager but she didn’t answer.

This caused me a lot of stress and it seems U-Haul needs to fix its reservation system. If I have reserved a unit, it should not be available for any random person online to rent. Other than that, everything went well. The unit was clean. The facility seems great.

SANDRA K | First ImpressionsThe check-in/check-out system is unreliable. The alarm frequently sounds when people open their units. It happens so often that no one thinks it odd. The after hours access also does not work, so our access was limited to when the store was open. We had our unit on auto-pay for convenience. One time I tried to access my unit, but there was a second lock on it for not paying. Of course I was furious. When I went into the store, they said they had no idea how to contact me, that they had "peeked over the wall and saw the unit was empty" (which was a completely lie - it was not empty until we just vacated it yesterday), and that we had not paid. We filled out a lot of paperwork with secondary contact information when we rented the unit, so nothing they said made sense. This is an indication that they made some kind of major mistake and then tried to blame us. I never felt like my belongings were secure there or that I could access my unit at will as they advertise. Based on our experiences with this facility, I do not trust them at all and would never recommend them. We are thrilled to be out of there.

This meant that I could only access my unit during open hours. Even when the key card/access code system appeared to work, the alarm often sounded when I opened my door. While I was there, I observed it happening to other customers too. In fact, it happened so much that no one flinched when the alarm went off because it was so common. I had a lot of frustration with not being able to pay my account in advance. I tried to do this online and in person, but the system will not allow it. I would rather pay in advance than have to wait until the due date and take a chance of getting a late fee if I happen to forget. This should be updated. Thank you.
