Honestly I wanted to leave the best review ever, but today when returning in 5/27, it was mentioned that I went over 700 miles and to be quite honest this was a complete rip off. I decided to go this route thinking I could save, I however was not warned about all of the EXTRA fees that U-Haul actually has regarding storage and additional fees. I’m disappointed because I utilized U-Haul 10 yrs ago and have never experienced so many fees when I indeed made sure the rental was nearly a week. Now I’m out of even more money than I began with. In this economy I would think there would be more deals and it’s unfortunate that U-Haul could not do better. Their prices are frightening literally!

I went to Uhaul Inkster and spoke to David whom stated that I could make an appointment for Westland for Saturday. I sat and listened to him tell the Ann Arbor store that my car was a Bronco Sport and they were to send over the wiring. I listened as he called the Westland store that I had a Bronco sport and that they did not know how to put in my appointment, but I was all set. I’d asked for an appointment between 12-1pm. The Westland store said that would be fine. I called at 12:20 on Saturday to confirm my appointment and make sure they had all the right parts. I was told that they did. I informed them that I would be there at 1pm. They said that would be fine. At 1pm, on Saturday when I got there, everyone professional when waiting on me, but I did stand to the side for 40 minutes as they looked for the part and checked out other customers. They then informed me that they had the wrong parts and that I’d have to reschedule for Monday. The gentleman who was going to put in the hitch said they’d talk to the manager because he understood that this was an inconvenience. He said that we could drop off the car early, but he would not be there till 11am. On Monday, we dropped the car off at 7:30 am. My husband and I spoke to Paige who was the manager. I didn’t expect for the manager to yell at me. Not sure if she realized that she was yelling and talking “at” me. I just stood there and let her because I had already set up the appointment again and this one finally had the parts. She told me that I was 1.5 hours late for the Saturday appointment anyway and that I would have had to reschedule. She said that they have hard appointments and kept saying that I was late. When I tried to tell her that I was told to get there between 12-1. I got there at 1pm. I called at 12:20 to confirm my appointment. I got there at 1pm. I was immediately checked in, and then the proceeded to look for the part for 40 minutes and then let me know that they did not have the part and then reschedule my appointment til Monday. I left the Uhaul at 2pm. She did not let me finish and did not listen, but yelled and berated me. She asked for specific names of whom I spoke with. I told her I wasn’t sure who I spoke with on the phone, but the time stamp was on my phone. She berated me for not getting a name. I really didn’t think I’d need names. On Monday, Paige said that the tech said that I got there at 1:20 and they would have had to reschedule anyway. All while raising her voice and over talking me. I pointed out that she was indeed yelling at me. She said, “I understand that you are upset and proceeded with the same tone.” “ She said that if I don’t trust them that I was welcome to go somewhere else.” She proceeded to repeat herself making sure that I did not get a word in. So I gave her the key and left. My husband just sat there and stared at her. When he inquired as to the tech being in at 11am just to confirm, she proceeded to yell at him cutting him off mid sentence and lecturing him. Saying the tech would be in at noon and that has been his schedule and he knows his schedule and would not have told us 11am. My husband was also quiet and did not talk back to her as she angrily spoke “at” him. We both rode home in silence per we really didn’t expect to wake up and be berated. I’m just there for a service. The yelling, confusion, and mix ups were very unwelcome. I was told that everything was all set. Monday morning was not a good start. Result: my husband went to pick up the car with hitch and was given a $100 discount. I’d rather be treated better by Paige than have recieved the $100 discount. Why even give the discount if she wasn’t wrong. It is now 4/16/2025. I thought twice about submitting this because it happened last month, but no one deserves to be treated poorly and supervises need to know that it’s not okay.

SENGANE MI believe that I speak for all that rents a storage unit, that there needs to be a exit door for vehicles. No one should have to back out the entrance, plus, people have to wait for others to finish in order to back out because they're blocked in. Otherwise, everything was excellent.
LEEALLEN CThe storage spaces on the lower level are very small and definitely over priced. I will definitely shop around before I ever choose to use this company for storage again. Upon renting I spoke with Eileen she offer me the storage space with the 1st month rent free and told me my things would fit after telling her days before that I had a house full of stuff I did look at the models they had available but I didn’t really think they were that small with the prices that were attached. The biggest spaces the company has is on the upper level people shouldn’t have to move heavy items like washers and dryer and sofas up stairs. For that I’m not satisfied at all but I’m going to deal with it this time.

BRIDGETTE HInitially wanted rent Van wasn’t told that debit card had to be connected to a bank account in store representative kept stating card declined but not the reason. Keys were misplaced was told someone would be out that night they sent someone to unlock the door not with replacement key. Did not bring key until 9 am the next morning then the truck wouldn’t start because key was not programmed driver had to come back to reprogram until almost 10:30 am. While on the way to destination Engine Light and and another light came on so dropped at another location in Ann Arbor for precaution. Was told key replacement would be $200 then charged $350 after they sent the wrong driver to unlock door all representatives were rude.

The person that helped me first had to help an older lady who literally asked so many simple questions that were already explained to her multiple times thus delaying me from picking up the equipment that I needed. P.s depression that helped me was a female and I can't remember her name but her initials were AW I believe, she was awesome very helpful very friendly and very knowledgeable.

DENNIS BI was overcharged $99 plus tax twice at this location on separate occasions. I won’t be returning. Caused me $60 in overdraft fees with my bank. They overcharged, refunded the money but it won’t show in my account for 2-5 business days and then charged my card again for the correct price which caused more fees. No compensation whatsoever I only got an excuse that they were “training new guys.”

MICHAEL KPlease make sure the trailers inspected and are ready for the customers. Once I loaded my Jeep onto the trailer, I noticed all four tires looked VERY low. I had to add 30psi to each tire. Yes, I normally do an inspection on any trailer I use prior to towing. I just worry about the next guy that may not care and just pull it down the highway like that. It's a safety issue and also a maintenance issue for UHAUL. Other than that, I had zero issues. I'll be back next year to rent another one. Thank you!!

The vehicle itself wreaked of cigarette odor and had something spewed over the passenger seat that was unpleasant to look at, but looked like it could have been easily removed though it wasnt. In contrast, the westland location basically scolded me and attempted to charge me for returning a vehicle that had leaves in the bed in late fall, and for smoking in the vehicle though I have never smoked, so I’ll take this location hands down. I do think a little more attention such as wiping down the interiors of these brand new vehicles and perhaps using odoban or a similar product would go a long way to remove the cigarette smell anf would be a good idea.

DAVID SI rented a 10’ truck on Saturday 12/15. When I got in the truck, the steering wheel was really high up. I’m 5’1. I looked everywhere to find the adjustment lever but didn’t find it. I called inside and asked for help. The guy came out and when he looked at my steering wheel he said “oh I see it! Looks like my team disabled it” I told him I cannot drive it like that. He said he would put me in a different truck. He checked another one and said he thinks they’re all like that. Finally he put me in another truck. This one also did not have a way to adjust the steering wheel. The drivers seat also was really far away from the pedals and the bar to adjust it was broke. I did not the patience nor time to go back inside so I took the truck. I had a ton of moving to do but the drive was really uncomfortable and probably unsafe because I could hardly reach the pedals and the steering wheel was soo high up. I left feeling so Irritated and frustrated!!!!!

I came back 3 hours later and seen him under the canopy to drop the tow dolly off and he said "just pull over where you picked it up and I will unhitch you" so I did and while he stood there on his phone watching me trying to back in a tow dolly do you think he would at least tell me when to stop or help in anyway?!? Nope! Very rude unprofessional help you have. Good luck with them two big boys!! I will do my rentals at the Taylor location or someplace else. Never again!!

The entire building was leaking and my entire unit was destroyed by mold. No one notified me there were over 20 buckets lining the halls filled with water and moving blankets on the floor to soak up water. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I cannot elaborate how lazy, rude and disrespectful the staff were. And I had a inside unit or I would have put higher insurance on my unit for sure!

We stayed at this facility because of time restraints not for the prices. And even though we rented a truck from one city to another we were not given a free months rental. For these reasons and the fact that the new way for checking trucks in and out sucks, there is no where to put in notes for what you see on the truck. That system should definitely be changed to be made more customer friendly

So when I went into Uhaul Storage and spoke with an agent she called her supervisor. Apparently, the supervisor replied to the agent that I could do it but I would have to pay up several months first in advance. I never heard of such during all of the time, that I had talked with an agent while I was making my monthly payment. Fixed incomes can't afford to pay up several months in advance just to have the due date changed. I understand going up on the storage fee. But, having to pay up several months in advance is a bit too much. 🙏🏽💙✌🏽I tried to resolve the issue before leaving. Oh, and I had to purchase another lock and key. But, in order to have it put on, I have to call their locksmith to have a lock of theirs cut off. And charge me $40.00. I don't feel that is right. Not at all. Ijs! For a long time, the customer. It's just time for me to get my belongings asap.

Gratefully, the store was still open, and 30 minutes before closing, they were able to fix my card. However, once I finally entered the facility, there was a customer lock on the unit which I had not put on there. There was no one available until Monday to cut the lock off, so 10 minutes before store closing, I had to be re-assigned to another unit. I am appreciate of the employee, MacKenzie (sp?), that spoke with manager and helped me get a bigger unit and a month free for the issues.

The price of a 4x6x8 is 70 bucks which is outrageous compared to the amount of storage you are getting, management is horrible and not easy to speak to I asked to speak to a manager and they refused to come out only kept sending the employee back and forth communication was awful and each person I spoke to gave my information that was correct they overcharged me and the manager still refused to speak with me. I had to call corporate to get things fixed properly which corporate was able to do but this store location is horrible the storage units are unsanitary and the staff needs to all get on boards with knowing the policy and prices because they amount of misinformation that was being giving out is ridiculous. If wasn’t for the employee that checked me out I wouldn’t have even gave a star my overall experience has been horrible 0/10 I would never recommend you guys to anyone

I was promised/reserved one in Ann Arbor, with a month free that came along with my rental of a trailer for a move from Virginia. When we arrived in Ann Arbor, of course, there was nothing available, not even a mobile box. They sent us to Inkster, who honored the first month free but didn't have the smaller size (less expensive unit) we were promised so we were pushed into a larger more expensive unit. Bait and switch comes to mind, and as much business as I've given your company I find it highly disappointing. I asked, at least, if I could get the the unit at the same price promised for the Ann Arbor unit. The manager said she had no control over the pricing and couldn't help me. So, here I am needing to return the trailer and no where (after the second site) to store my belongings (and I'd just driven several hundred miles.) Did I feel taken advantage of. Yes I did. And I will tell anyone who asks. It's clear your company recognizes that moving is no fun; it's also clear you practice predatory pricing and business tactics that take advantage of stressed out customers. You could change that with a simple policy: Ensure your site managers have the ability to make adjustments to help customers when your company fails to deliver what is promised -- particularly when they're sent to another city when you fail to have the reservation available.

demond a | First ImpressionsThe only experience I had that seemed off was with the way the contract was started. The employee recorded was the date I moved with the rented truck. I rented the storage about a week earlier So when I called to see what day my bill was due I was told the wrong date Then they charged me late fee of $25. I disputed it of course and was able to get a refund. The 2nd time I paid the bill on the due date and again was charged the late fee.I called again and was told the payment needed to be there on the due date as this time I received no credit. Then later I learned the correct one. I had a 5 day window to pay before being charged a late fee U-Haul needs to train their employees better so everybody can be on the same page. After I vacated the storage with a truck tental; I was called to tell them what date I closed the rental because it wasn't recorded properly. That is poorly conducted business to relay to customers.

I was right with time or else I would of gone else where for storage we were also told since you rented 4 days you get the biggest room instead we got the smallest because the big room was on second floor no elevators I would die to move my heavy items on the stairs. Last time using u haul storage or unless I get some kind of credit for the trouble we were givin also was told drop off the truck there it's ok then when done we were told no you can not we had to drive another 20 mnt to another location for drop off. Frustrated and tired ....

Very disappointing experience, especially since my experience renting a storage unit from this place in the past was impeccable. I emailed the manager, Shannon, in order to discuss this issue and am currently waiting to hear back from her.
