alex t | First ImpressionsTook 45 minutes to get checked in and finally get my vehicle. They couldn’t find the keys and couldn’t find the drop off location in the system. They also had 6 or 7 of the vehicles that I originally reserved on line and never offered to change my reservation, costing me an extra $75 from my original order. Very disappointing in U-Haul all together.
JOHN VOverall the equipment was fine and worked as it should. When I dropped it off, I waited outside for several minutes at the drop off site and no one came out. I walked in expecting to see a line of people, however no one was there. When I opened the door, I hear, “Not it!” It was obvious that this was in regards to assisting me. Another gentlemen came from the back break area and was very nice. However, he then asked me to back the trailer all the way back to its original pick up area. This was a unique request as I usually just drop it off in the designated area. Luckily, I know how to back a trailer, however if someone wasn’t comfortable in doing that for that distance it would’ve put them in an awkward spot. For my next rental I will choose a different location.
MICHEAL MI was highly impressed with the service from beginning to end. The communication was excellent all the way through and the only issues were in Iowa due to mechanical breakdowns. Their fork truck for loading and unloading the boxes was broken and the truck bringing the boxes in also broke down. They may want to take a look at servicing their equipment more often. However, UPS did an excellent job at taking care of these problems for me and I would highly recommend them!

MARILYNN EJust make sure ALL of your equipment is in the best of condition. The 1st trailer I was offered had wheel bearing issues, but the associate was the very best to work with.

ROBERT FMy boxes were delivered a day later than they were supposed to be. I waited an entire day then was called and told the they had not been transported to my location, and would be delivered the next day. In order to meet the boxes at my location, I had to close my business an hour early losing potential sales. Also, I am still waiting credit for moving supplies that I did not order but were delivered in the box.I am still relentlessly trying to get this credit to my account, and most recently was told that I had purchased the moving supplies in the store, however, I did not enter a store...as I said they were in the U-Haul box when it was delivered to me. I told the driver that I did not order any supplies and she said to just leave them in the container and when it was returned I would receive the credit. Still no credit.

William J | First ImpressionsIt took over 45 minutes to get through the rental process even though I was the first person in this morning. The employee who checked me out somehow converted the rental to a one way for both my reservation and the person after me. He blamed it on the system and gave a very underwhelming explanation and apology.
JEFFERY RThe suspension on this trailer was terrible. It beat us to death on our trip. Needs to be addressed and fixed. I’ve only driven one other trailer as bad from Uhaul. Made our trip pretty miserable. I also honestly had to reduce speed to 30-40 mph on one stretch it was bouncing so badly, and not that weighed down.

Tracy D | First ImpressionsGet more knowledge staff! 45 mins to check in and over a hour to checkout and I was still over charged by $60 but had already reached my limit on patience of dealing with them.
Christopher NSide mirrors would not adjust. Kept popping back to original setting. Big safety issue! Windshield wiper fluid did not work. I bought some Windshield fluid thinking it was empty. It was full. So the motor was probably bad or a bad connection. The passenger air bad was locked to off. Another safety issue. Is there safety checks and maintenance updates performed at all? Very disappointed overall with the professional and operation of your company.

CHARLES JOh my gosh, this was an amazing experience! I was going to go with the other box company but I read so many bad reviews about them dropping off or picking up late and I was on a time crunch and could not have that happen. This was amazing and I WILL use UHaul Boxes again!! It was such a great experience, my stuff was well taken care of, nothing fell, nothing broke, it great!

TENESHA S | Overall ExperienceI dropped the trailer off after hours so I had no contact with people there. Return area was very crowded and not very level. A flat area would be better when unhooking trailers. Non level areas seem to promote the hitch binding to the ball, which happened to me again.

evalyn g | First ImpressionsI am 4'11" tall. I am by no means considered a "little person". Because the steering wheel was not able to adjust, I had to look between the dashboard and the steering wheel in order to drive the truck. This was further complicated by the fact that the side mirrors were supposed to be manually adjusted, but they wouldn't move. I would love to have had somebody larger drive the truck, but it was not an option. By the grace of God, I was able to achieve my mission without incident. Here are my suggestions: 1. Get trucks with adjustable steering columns (or at least have this as an option). 2. Have side mirrors that are adjustable. 3. Have the staff at the dealership do a brief orientation to the vehicle.

Sarah EI was told about the extra charge for miles...that was fine. I had more of a problem with the pick up place not letting me know before I agreed to rent a truck about how many miles I was allowed and when truck needed to be back. Yes, it is in the agreement, but it would have been nice to have been told in person and that it was on the website when I signed up. If it was, I missed it which means it must not have been very clear.
CHARLES TI’m very disappointed with the person that gave me the information they told me that I could drop the vehicle any of your location but when I come back to ask them if it’s OK to drop in Washington location, they told me that they were gonna charge me $300.00 I will never use your service again.
NAYELI HLost a wheel halfway between Iowa City and Waterloo on my way up to Minnesota. Took 2 hours for a tow truck to get there. Was offered 250 to load and unload my own uhaul after dark in the cold or wait until the next day. Not much of a deal for an event that should never happen. The wheel completely came off on the interstate at speed. Feels like you may have a maintenance issue. Should be the 250 plus a free rental, but that does not fix the maintenance item or the fact that no one helped me move from one trailer. Bret Swenson

CONNOR D | Overall ExperienceThe enclosed trailer wasn't fit to be used. It wobbled all around on my truck. The receiver and truck are new. It was on a 2" ball as it was supposed to be. It seems clear someone put it on a 1 7/8" ball and wobbled it out. I understood how it would look bringing it back early and saying that it didn't fit correctly and I didn't feel good about taking it down a highway to go get what I meant to get. I didn't bother to ask for my money back. I just wanted to point it out so it gets fixed so you don't screw over the next person. Unfortunately the women I dealt with straight lied to my face at the end claiming she saw my receiver rattling around and not it being loose on the ball. I hate liars. There is no sense in dealing with them. I will not do business with your store again.
JASON LThe vehicle wasn’t there at the reserved time when I needed it. I didn’t know this until I showed up at 8am to pick up the van and was told they didn’t have the vehicle. I went home and came back 2 hours later to pick up the van after I was called. The lot was full of 10’ trucks, but I was told these were all rented by Amazon and UPS for holiday deliveries. The lot was still full of these trucks when I returned the van at the end of the day.

DANIEL LMoving a U-Box from Iowa to Virginia went very well. The Virginia site connected with the receiver in Fairfax to get all the right information to deliver. The online process is a little confusing since U-Haul segments the process. But when I called with questions, whoever I spoke to were very helpful and knowledgeable
Mary VI didn’t get an email after I rented the truck stating all rates/costs quoted by my U-Haul rep over the phone. I feel like my total cost was more than I anticipated. The truck was almost new and was easy to drive. I wish straps would have been included.

I know this since I arrived 5 minutes early and saw the vehicle I ended up using. Friendly staff and a clean environment. I will use this location again.

JULIE EI was lied to and had to pay for an extra month. I was told you would look into the situation and you didn't. I'm telling everyone I know to never rent a storage space from UHaul including posting it on the University of Iowa parents page.
