I made the reservation online for a 10 ft truck. It wasn't until I completed the reservation that I was told I might have to pick up the truck at a different location. Everything worked out as they had a 15ft truck for me however that should be more apparent during the reservation process.

Interim Manager, Tre, was absolutely fabulous. Tre is very personable and knowledgeable. I watched him take care of a steady stream of customers with ease. I ended up being early for the installation of my hitch. He gave me a chair to use during my wait. He answered the questions I had regarding the installation and warranty. Next, I met Gage who did the installation. He did such a wonderful job that one would think that I had purchased my SUV with a hitch factory installed. Gage explained he would have to make some cuts in the plastic in two places. It looked seamless to me. He took the time after the installation to explain how my bike rack would work on the hitch. Very professional and knowledgeable.

We have used this U-Haul location one other time since our daughter is going to school in LaCrosse. When we arrived at 1:30, which is our official pick up time, we ended up at the back of a line that had approximately 8 to 10 people in it, some of which had been waiting almost an hour to check in. At that time, there was only one person working at the desk. By the time we got there, there were two, which helped move the line a little faster. When we checked in, I found out that despite reserving a U box online at the Rose Street location, I was told that there were no Uboxes available since the four they had on site we’re being shipped out. I was also told that generally, U boxes are not available at this site. I was very disappointed in this information since that meant we had to drive all the way to Winona to store our daughter’s things. If I had known this was the case, I would’ve arranged storage at another facility in La Crosse. Experience at the storage facility in Winona was great, thank goodness. I would like to proactively say that the van we rented had some damage to the bumper on the driver side in the back. This was definitely not caused by us, and we didn’t notice it until we were unpacking the vehicle. There was also an indicator light on the dashboard that the brake pads needed to be replaced. It was all around just a very long, frustrating day.

There was only one worker, Will; and people were mad, but he did a great job, was very respectful, and the company should be proud of him for representing the brand when he was placed in unfair position; apparently, many people quit and he came to help out; he should be rewarded, as he did a great job.

We waited an hour to be helped and there was only one employee working (he should be promoted and some of your executives should be removed). We had a storage box and a small trailer rented and planned to store our furniture on-site for 2 weeks. There was no box and the trailer size we needed was located over 1.5 hours away. We ended up with a larger trailer and we had to move our stuff to a friend’s house 1.5 hours from La Crosse and we were the “lucky” ones. Your business model and inventory supply models need to be thrown out and redesigned. Any customer using Uhaul is rolling the dice as to if they will be able to complete the move they need to make.

This location is terribly understaffed, and as a result, it took about 30 minutes after my reservation time to get the trailer I rented. The one staff member there (Will) was great and kept a cool head despite the unhappy customers. I felt bad that he had to deal with being the only one there during such a busy time. He is the reason I gave a more positive review.

1st off college move out day so location was very BUSY!! I give Will, Madison location GM a huge shout out today. probably 10-15 people in line and he was very professional and kept a cool head and things moving along smoothly, running the desk all by himself and servicing 2 customers pretty much at a time. Should have had 2 employees at counter, but Will did an awesome job and probably better than if there were 2!!! Great Job Will you are a great asset to this company!!!

The trailer was in good shape and the tires were well maintained. When picking up there was not a line so it did not take that long but when I returned the trailer there were at least six of us standing in line waiting for at least a half an hour. The person working was nice and professional but severely understaffed. This is a busy location and should have more staff on hand to assist with the renting and the returning of the equipment. This was the second time that I have experienced this at this location.

There was one worker when we went to pick up. We stood in line for 45 min to get our rental. Not the employees fault, he was doing his best. The truck was clean, however there was no AC and the vents barely brought in outside air. Crank windows with one driver also made it impossible to get any cross flow as you couldn't adjust the passenger window without pulling over. Far from ideal when we're moving 3 hours away on an 80 degree day.

Reservation time was for 10:30am...stood in line 90 MINUTES and received my rental at 12pm. Took me longer to rent the trailer than it did to use the trailer(less than 1 hour) Whatta joke!!

We actually had an incredible experience. First time we have ever rented a U-Haul. The pick up process and drop off process was amazingly easy. It was so convenient and so economic for us. When we move our son back to school, we are absolutely going to do this again. We can’t believe we’ve never thought to do this before and we were very grateful for the close proximity of the location and the friendly helpers thank you so much.

I have to say picking up the trailer took about an hour standing in line before I was helped. Shorted staffed!! I only rented the trailer for 2 days and dropped it off in less than 24 hours and was charged for an extra day and an extra day of insurance. When I went to drop the trailer off there were five people deep in line. Trailer was left in return lane. Not sure How is was charged another full day.

There didn't seem to be enough people working in the store. However, the person who was working there was amazing. Her name was Emily F, and she was incredible. Super friendly, super efficient, helped maintain people's patience in line, then helped me with all my questions, how to hook up the trailer, you name it. Honestly wonderful, 11/10

After-hours return process was bad. The website was unable to confirm my location, so it told me to scan a barcode "near the front door". The barcode was hidden on a tiny sign, about the size of a postage stamp. Then it said to put my paperwork in the drop box. I never got physical paperwork because the printer was down.

The only issue I had was that the previous location entered a drop off location that was never discussed and I was being told that I may have to pay a drop off fee. I was dealing with the manager in lacrosse and there would be nothing they could do but when I asked how much the fee was she said oh there's not going to be one after all. That was my only issue with the process.

When I arrived at the location at 9:10 AM for drop off of an appliance dolly, the store was not yet open. Since the store was to open at 9:00 AM, other customers were already waiting and some left when they found it was closed. Thomas arrived at 9:30 AM to open the store. He apologized for the delay. This has been a very reliable store with the exception of this incident.

One of the tail lights was not operating correctly-only two of the 25 or so LEDs were lighting up. When I pointed this out to the agent, they said it was fine and sent me on my way. Probably should have insisted on a different trailer, but the agent didn't seem too interested in that, so just documented and left. Was nervous the whole time I had the trailer, especially when changing lanes back to the right. If it needed repair is pointed out, especially one involving safety of inoper turn signals or lights, the customer shouldn't have to insist on a different trailer, it should be recommended and provided by the agent.

Trailer was full of snow and ice when I picked it up. I asked if they had a shovel or broom to clean it out and "no" was the answer. I had to pick up an appliance with a very slippery trailer. Also there was no belt on the appliance dolly stair track thing. I didn't need it but if I had been using stairs I would have been screwed. Super disappointed overall.

There was a couple of maintenance issues that I was supposed to tell the facility The reverse light on the passenger side is out and there was a a lock connected to the truck and that does not work

The van must have just come in from previous use because the rear window was so dirty I had to clean before using for delivery. There was no explanation from U Haul rep about anything so when I tried to adjust the outside mirror what I tried didn't work so to use the right-hand side mirror I had to lean over towards the right. Also after about 12 miles of driving the low tire light came on and the diagram showed that none of the tires were the correct psi.I was very disappointed in this agency although I pulled a covered 5 x 8 U Haul back from AZ with no problems because the agency in Anthen AZ did their business the right way. Does U Haul have training for your employee's and if so the LaCrosse WI agency NEEDS HELP

I would like to sincerely apologize to the GM Shelly at UHAUL in Lacrosse WI. I am still very interested in working with her on an agreement to receive my items from a different storage unit that I rented. I would love to negotiate a price to resolve this matter. The circumstances that lead to our issues with keeping up with the payments involved the tragic losses of three of our beloved girls, and their triple murders. We also have been traveling to Rochester for the criminal court process often. Sometimes, we needed to stay in the city for days depending on the court proceedings. There are precious items that belonged to my 23 yr old pregnant daughter Keona, and her adorable 23 month old baby girl Miyona, my granddaughter who was a blessing, and everything to her loving mom. They both were sadly murdered alongside each other in Rochester, M.N. Again, I am strongly interested in resolving this matter. Shelly, please give me a call at (608) 518-0461. So our unit 117 was next to a unit that the garage door had been damaged and completely opened to the outdoor environment. Not knowing any better first time storage unit renters, we still agreed to renting the unit. Only later did we realize that our belongings were being exposed to the outdoor environment because the unit next to us was completely exposed. I would definitely not recommend renting 117 out till you fix the door next to it. We were extremely concerned about our belongings and that is why we relocated to another storage unit company.

The guy who helped me was fantastic. I wish I caught his name (guy with the beard). He was all alone on a Sunday moving day in a college town having to deal with many customers and was able to give high quality service to each customer. It was not his fault there is only one person working at a Uhaul in such a large city. I feel badly that Uhaul does not treat their employees well or pay them enough.

It’s crammed with too much stuff. No place to park to load or unload as ALL the spaces in front of the storage space doors for walk-in storage are taken up by U-haul trucks or those boxes you take to leave on site somewhere. It’s crowded and difficult to even get a car to move in there to get to the storage. It’s a sh** show there to say the least. They are understaffed usually only two people there if you're lucky. This would be the last place I’d look and only if there was nothing else open.

The login system frequently misfunctioned by not recognizing my PIN number. I gave up on punching in after a few times. There were vehicles parked in the alley that created a very narrow space that I had to drive through. My mirror brushed up against the storage facility and was scratched.

September 25, 2022 I went in around 4pm to put things in my storage after making sure my storage was paid as there was some sort of hiccup. There was a lock still on my locker as shouldn't have been and the employee that was inside was sleeping I walked around the building and asked the guy that was pressure washing to help me which he did. My thought was this didn't make me feel safe or secure for my items in storage.

This is a facility that is more concerned about just making money than investing in their own facility to provide quality services. Every winter, ice piles up next to the doors (on the shady sides) in such a way that you cannot even access your storage unit. Their excuss? "We contract snow removal, sorry", But don't they walk the grounds and ensure proper upkeep by their contractors? NO! They don't take responsibility at all. They just wait for you to complain. And In the spring when the snow melts, it damages the doors and causes gaps that allow rodents inside. With this, rodents have access to the INDOOR storage units as well since they are located on the opposite side of the outdoor units. This whole facility needs a major investment in door repair, drainage, and proper snow/ice removal to be an upstanding storage facility. Right now it's just a roof over your stuff. And good luck getting access to it because they park Uhaul trucks all around the facility in such a way it's very difficult to even access your things. And try to get resolve? Good luck, they will just tell you to call corporate or file an insurance claim. So for those of you desperate storage seekers - If you don't mind mouse poop all over your stuff, and if you like the challenge of accessing your belongings through trucks, ice, and snow, and if you enjoy paying premium prices for VERY poor customer service, this is the place for you! If not, seek out other areas and RUN from this place!!! Very unethically managed to say the least. There is like, one worker there that was helpful and nice. Jerome or Jeremy maybe? IDK but he was the young black man that checked me out when I moved all my stuff out 9/18. Everyone else I dealt with could care less.

I used two climate controlled storage units for three years, being out of state for most of that time and always felt very confident that they were protecting my valuables. Now that I have my own space here in Wisconsin, I no longer need these storage units, but my goods were in the same condition as when I for packed the units three years ago. We are in the process of moving to the La Crosse area, and have been in this store multiple times over the past several weeks to purchase moving supplies, reserve a truck, and rent storage space. Every staff member we have met has been extremely friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.

This is my second storage unit rental at this location. The only complaint I had is the first unit I still have was very icy on the day I needed access and I slipped a few times. Staff came out and salted when I let them know. Also, the slide lock is troublesome to slide. The 2nd unit I rented yesterday had a much easier slide lock. Door rolled up and down more smoothly as well at the second unit. It must be newer. Overall, I can highly recommend this Uhaul location!
