Tim at Oakland St location was absolutely fantastic. Very patient and accommodating. That includes the other two employees that are that location. Job well done!

Tehsin SThe trailer I rented was clean(ish) but I noticed the door didn't line up and therefore closed with difficulty. The UHaul member outside showed me to lean into it while lifting to get it to close. Four hundred and fifty miles away the door hinge snapped and I had to trust that the other hinge would hold all our stuff safely inside while I drove home. I was not overly pleased with that. Upon returning it, I was told I wouldn't be charged, but then 30 minutes later I received a call talking about insurance contact information. I haven't found out yet if they plan on trying to charge me for the hinge failure or not, but it makes me wonder.

STEPHEN GThis storage facility is not well maintained.! Door to facility constantly opens and closes. Anyone can walk in on the climate control building without a code even though you have cameras because door remains automatically open when the employees go home! There were many times i was there past 8:00 PM and i could just walk in yo the storage units! Manager does nit do a good job maintaining facility. At the unloading station there is garbage that has been there for days by the hill and no ine has bothered to pick it up! The bathroom was without toilet tissue for two weeks and garbage not picked up! I have videos and pics.

CHARLES HMake sure the reserved vehicle is close to building and not make it inconvenient to locate vehicle . Wasting the customer time is not good business practice. The U-Haul was very difficult to navigate through
LARON BI liked it better when the associate at the store would help us and do all the paperwork and everything for renting a vehicle now it’s everything has to be done by your phone and sometimes that is really inconvenient and difficult
Harmony PI was accused of stealing by an associate who left a leaf blower leaning up against a garbage pail next to other trash. Then calling and threatening to charge my card $300 if I didn’t return it. I assumed it was something no one wanted, why would it be by the trash , not anywhere near the building and with no one out there. I don’t appreciate being accused of stealing. My fiance brought it back and I called twice and spoke to operators who were very nice and said they would send a message. I will never get a truck from there, nor will I recommend this place.

However, the process of having to sign everything on your smartphone was extremely frustrating, a waste of time and the antithesis of customer service. U-Haul basically had me do all the administrative work, had to adjust setting in the phone, take photos of license, take photos of truck, find documents to sign in the arduous online order of operations, etc. It was comical how bad the customer experience was. It took way longer tha. necessary. Makes a customer feel like U-Haul doesn’t care at all. 0.0 chance I would recommend to anyone.

LUCIANNA HI was forced to check-in using the mobile app which did not work very well. I received very little assistance in using this method by the workers and it made the pick-up process very difficult. I will not be using U- Haul for my future needs.

MICHAEL DOlivia helped us with our check-in. It was a lot different from the last time, all on phone. She helped us every step of the way & was very calm & friendly. When we returned the truck the young man who checked us out was very friendly. Thank you!

Michael HUsing the app to pick up the truck was a nightmare. There is all this waiting and checking and steps that should have been done in advance of pickup. I thought the idea was to speed things up. The whole idea that we have to sit and wait for someone in Arizona to approve us taking the truck etc is ridiculous. Offer the ability to do that ahead of time. You go expecting to be getting the truck and leaving, instead you spend 30-40 minutes getting through all these steps while the folks you have lined up to help move stand around waiting on you.

KIM GEverything was off of an app and disorganized. It felt like you had to give them your first born child as far as the questions and requirements they had. It would’ve been nice to interact with a human being.
Sarah GHorrible check in process, trucks gear selector kept popping in and out of reverse. The unfortunate employees have to explain and deal with customers that are frustrated with the sign in app, giving phone numbers of people we know in order to rent a truck, explaining you are loaning a 60k truck for $40….i can rent a car worth twice that easier that a U-Haul truck. Overall bad experience but then again where else am I going to rent a truck. If I have another option I will use another company in the future.
Scott BIt is a hassle to rent a truck. You are treated like a criminal with all the information, steps and verification in order to rent. I had to give a phone number of someone I know to get verified in case Uhaul calls me and I don't pick up!!?? That's insanity. Everyone was sleeping, rude to wake someone for them to verify someone they know; nuts! I had to complete the same process 3 times to get the rental, online at home, at the office on my phone for pickup and the attendant. Terrible!
JESSICA CThis place is very poor and it has very wicked and unfaithful officials that I would not even recommend it to my enemies. The so called general manager “Tim Doehler” is a criminal and also a thief. When you go there for truck bookings, and after you pay the bookings of the truck then that he will get access to your credit/debit card information and start to manipulate it unlawfully and he gonna file a fraudulent charges against you. This charges he has named it as “damaged cost”. Meanwhile, nothing has happened to the truck. Tim gonna deduct very big amount from your debt or credit card without any explanation and reason, just to gain fame and favor from U-Haul company and salary increment. I recommend to everyone that, stay away from fraudulent and driver’s licensed information hacking, DON’T ever try to rent a truck from this place. It is dangerous!! Afterwards nobody will receive your calls and they will not reply to your messages and emails including the general president. To stay safe, stay away from this dangerous U haul rental zone!!!!!

Dominick PI was not told I needed a cell phone to rent the vehicle or a CT LIC. even after calling a month prior to book it and telling the worker I did not have a cell but my son would be with us so here is his number. There should be a system where UHAUL can scan your license for approval. I had to go get my son and use his Lic. and cell phone which is ridiculous. No one went out to the van to check it prior to us taking it, a man came in saying the one they assigned to him had a flat! When we got back no one went out to check the condition of the van, document the mileage, or look at the fuel gauge. We were billed after we left. Thank God we only went 50 miles with it.

ANTWON SThe employees were helpful and courteous but process of using your phone for checkin/checkout s deeply problematic, raises huge privacy concerns and at one point in the return equipment procedures was highly misleading. I wasted 30 minutes of my time looking for an “orange key return box” that did not exist in below freezing weather at night. Another lost customer and myself finally found a very obscure key return slot that was black not orange. As a repeat customer, I am unimpressed with the contactless phone application, I have never had an issue when dealing with live uhaul employees. For this reason, I am considering not returning as a customer which is sad.

She helped me with my reservations and was there to help with my pick up. Her customer service skills are exceptional, I work in customer relations for a corporation and you are very lucky to have her. She is the reason I would return to U-Haul.
susan p | First ImpressionsI understand winter months are tough. Luckily for me, I drive a fire trucks, but trying to get the 26 footer out of a frozen parking spot was very difficult. If anyone else were to try to, they probably would've hit another truck. I'd recommend ensuring the truck isn't stuck before giving it to the customer.

The associate saw me struggling to complete the return and when I approached him about getting some help he said that they were closed and he couldn’t help me because he was already helping someone else. In addition the app and all the prompts and pictures are extremely time consuming. The app glitches repeatedly. This entire process from start to finish was cumbersome and expensive. I was quoted one priced and charged another.

The first being the two young gentleman that helped me throughout the entire process absolutely pleasant and helpful! Answered every question I had, corrected entry problems and cudnt been more courtous n custimer friendly! Those 2 Gents were fantastic!!! 2nd part was two female at the location on 2/21/24 not helpful whatsoever, doors locked at 6:50 nor were they willing to help or answer any question. Told that all move ins are done online n that’s what I needed to do. Proceeded to do the online move in while in my car than recd a t/c stating that they were sending me a link which I never received. Watched the two females locked up the store leave while I was still trying to process my account. No assistance at all offered nor was a swipe card given to grant me access to my unit. So needless to say the info of do it online n there’s a bag w a lock n instructions inside the unit for me was not accurate nor helpful at all. Also, had questions on a reservation along with the online reservation n if I wud still be entitled to a free month of storage and not reserved two units and billed for them both. Thankfully when I returned in 2/22/24 the two gentleman were both there which I was grateful for their kinda assistance. Only outstanding issue currently is not given the free month of storage had to pay for the 1st month and advised to speak to the General Manager at that location.

This is/was very concerning seeing how I paid and selected indoor storage specifically to keep my belongings out of the elements. There was another family accessing their unit right near ours who were also very disappointed.

I made a reservation online, and had the email with the reservation number, yet when I went in, they had no record of me at all. Then, on the day I tried to move in, the facility wouldn't let me POD be in their parking lot. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why this would be, as a POD and a storage unit go hand in hand. I then had to spend the entire afternoon on the phone trying to figure out what to do to make things work and had to spend even more money on renting a truck to unload the POD into and then bring to a facility. I ended up cancelling the uhaul unit altogether, never having moved in, yet was still charged and never got my money back. Overall, terrible experience.

The manager made it right by giving me my second month free, however when you budget funds and have important things to pay for during a move, things like this throw everything off. Absolutely unbelievable. My unit also had a mouse trap in it, so I’m not sure if this was precautionary or as treatment, but I got insurance so if anything happens it’ll be (hopefully) compensated. A terrible overall experience for a move.

COMFORT P | Overall ExperienceCard reader never accepted my card. Made a reservation via phone for storage, and that reservation was never filed. Ended up with a unit only because one was still available. Made another reservation online. Called the day of move-in and was told there was a 7 day grace period to sign in at the office before the reservation expired. Arrived the next morning. A man at the next counter was angry that they didn't have his reservation. The clerk then started my interaction with "don't worry we take reservations seriously. We don't give them to anyone". A minute later I was being told that they had given my reservation away and it was really my fault for not coming the day before, despite the clerk remembering that I'd called and she'd said there was a grace period. Oh, and some moron decided it would be a great idea to install oversized speed bumps across the entrance/exit so every time you move cargo the trailer hitch gets stressed and the cargo gets jostled for absolutely no reason. I've moved to a far more professional facility.

Slow truck pick up time (uhaul employee talking endlessly with the customer in front of me). This is not a restaurant where you make small talk to get a tip. You're supposed to make the process quick and efficient so the next customer can pick up their truck in a timely fashion especially if you're the only employee there. Poor training. Nobody knows what is going on. They kept asking me who told me about the one free month for storage... At least they honored the free storage month that was promised (after a call to the manager, which wasted more of my time. My movers were waiting for me in the truck and I was paying them $200 per hour) So a 10 minute delay from uhaul employees cost me more than $33. Bad experience.

I believe she went above & beyond of her job to help me out. I'm disabled and she helped with getting me the truck , helping me try to get in the truck. I have an upcoming one way truck reservation and when I booked it it gave one month rental but then customer care told us we could move in today and the website also told when I entered the uhaul reservation number that my first pay will be on September 26. But store manager said I can't avail that offer for upcoming reservation. This is very bad

The wait to get processed is ridiculous, the app is poor, the call for picking up a truck is as bad due to the wait... The people have all been fine, your tools are extremely sub par. It's like you are a startup and haven't figured out how to efficiently deal with rental and storage.

Then I found a complimentary lock in the unit. I asked the office for a refund of the one I purchased. This was denied since I didn't check into the unit with online app. If I knew check in online was an option I would have saved 20 minutes and not been charged for a lock!

When she carried me to the storage there was a padlock provided in the empty unit but unfortunately for me the associate quickly grabbed it. I asked her if that was left for me and he lame excuse was that the previous renters probably left it. Really? An unused and unopened padlock. Lucky for her I was crammed on time and had to move my stuff into the unit and be out of town by the end of the day so I did not have time for the small details. I will be coming back for my refund as I confirmed with another uhaul facility that I should have never been charged. On the bag it says COMPLIMENTARY. It should be mandatory for all stay to know the policy and be able to read their products.
