The two ladies at this location were fantastic! It was super easy to check in at this uhaul. They explained the process, what to expect, cost break down, everything. They showed me the truck, explained how the process, and had me ready to go fairly quickly. Returning the rental was just as easy. They came out and asked how everything went with my move. The truck was checked in smoothly. Highly recommend!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had never driven a truck, nor rented a U-Haul on my own. I was a little nervous returning it after dark by myself and couldn't figure out how to get to the "return" part on the app, so I just parked and locked it, and dropped the keys in the afterhours box and the staff checked it in for me the next morning! I appreciated that, as I didn't want to be in the lot alone too long that evening!

The cashier has a very nasty attitude. She doesn’t know how to talk to people. If I didn’t need the uhaul cargo van at the time I would’ve canceled based on her attitude. The old van smelled horrible.

I don't own a cell phone. Staff insisted that I have a cell phone to rent the truck. I have a land line at my house (yes, I own a house). I also have a land line at my office (yes, I have had a job with my current employer for over 25-years). Had to use my wife's cell phone to rent the God Damned truck. I can rent a car from Hertz without a cell phone. WTF? I HATE CELL PHONE DISCRIMINATION. Any drug dealer can go to Walmart and buy a burner phone. Does that prove they are a good credit risk?

I live out of state, therefore it was critical for UHaul to be a reliable source. It did not turn out that way. Upon arriving clerk named Amy said no truck until 3:00, I arrived at 11:00 per my reservation . I did, and she told me I had to return the truck back at 10:00 next morning. In other words, I suppose someone else reservation is as more important than mine. I did bring it back as she requested but our task completely not done. No one called me about my reservation and Amy was not only not helpful but extremely sarcastic. I will NEVER use this facility again l, it completely messed up my weekend. Also why was I billed for 24 hours and it was not a full day ??

The location seem to have set up renters for immediate failure. They parked the trucks in such a tight space and expected me to be able to get of of a tight parking space without scratching anything. I have never expected to be setup for failure.

It's a telling commentary on the state of American life that it seems we all require off-site storage for long duration of things we either don't want or promptly forget we own--iow, we own too much crap. That said, U-Haul of Metairie couldn't have made a 6 year experience with storage more convenient or reasonable, and the staff there does a magnificent job. I love U-Haul in general, but aside from the U-Haul on Tulane Avenue, nobody works harder or is more courteous and helpful than these guys on Central Avenue. I'm not sorry to go, but would recommend U-Haul of Metairie to anyone who's also in need of a place to store their crap.

Not sure if it’s racial discrimination or policy per franchise but I called twice and spoke to two regional agents directly who assured me I’d be able to use my Visa Debit to rent a pick up truck at the location I had to Uber to today, 09/12/2024, when I arrived the in store employee, whom was unfailty vulgar and dismissive when another customer, whom was a white male, demanded attention although he’d walked in at least five minutes after I. I was over charged for a box truck I did not need and charge an additional fee for gas mileage when the tank was set to F(full) when I returned the vehicle. I’d like a review of my transaction and to be ensured that I won’t have this experience again if I ever decide to rent from this location on Central Ave in Metairie, LA.

Need better explanation of rental time. I rented a 26' uhaul and did not use it because I rented it at 5:30pm and was called and said it needed to be back at 3:30am. I thought when you rent a uhaul it was for a day as in 24 hours not by the hour.

I’ve been thru a fair share of uhual facilities, some sketchy ones, some great ones, this one has a great crew and location, the building it’s self just needs some love, the carpet on the second floor smells like cat urine and everything was a bit run down, again great crew and easily location, just needs some TlC from corporate.

My only complaint is that there is no place to throw any trash away; even little stuff like a few sheets of paper, or a piece of tape. It is very inconvenient that tenants are not allowed to use the dumpster without incurring huge fees, when if we will also incur huge fees if we leave trash. For the amount I was paying each month, I should be allowed to throw away trash from my unit without incurring exorbitant fees.

I was in arrears. Someone I know bought the storage for a surprise for me. It went for $110. My friend called the storage place and they said she had 48 hours to get it clean. She also asked to rent a truck to take the items away. She was told there was no available truck and she would have to make a truck reservation at another location. So my friend did and then called the office where they bought auction storage to let her know they couldn't get it until 11 am the next day. She then again told her don't worry she had 48 hours...get it out by 9 am Friday. My friend got the truck at the other location, and showed up at the Uhaul location on Thursday, 25 hours after the sale not 48. where the auction was sold, and was told it was all thrown out about an hour earlier. NOW THAT IS FRAUD. They said they were in the wrong but there was nothing they could do because the worker who lied to her was off that day and left no communication of my friend having to go somewhere else to rent the truck or that she knew she couldn't get the truck until 11 am. UHAUL FAILED AND LIED TO HER. I found out the next day when they showed up to tell me what had happen and they were sorry. can back this up with uhaul receipt and witnesses to what the lying UHAul worker said. It's fraud. Now I want UHAUL to pay me for what was thrown away due to they were supposed to hold it for 48 hours and because they didn't have a truck to rent to her she had to go to another UHAUL pod to find a truck. Now i expect a reply to me. I want to see if anyone is really reading these before I go talk to a lawyer. UHAUL Central Avenue Metairie LA is stealing from people. It happen twice that day by the way with someone else also. check it out. jackie jackson a former and never again customer of UHAUL and want to make sure anyone else I now isn't either. You lied to my friend and stole my things.

Paying extra for 24 hours of access is a bit much and the the locks used cannot be used elsewhere makes them a waste of money. Temperature control was on but still sweating occurs when inside the unit just standing. Paid $150 plus lock and 24 access. Also the trucks take up too much space so one must checkout then get into vehicle to enter and exit grounds.

Moving just after Hurricane Zeta sent its100 mph gusty eye through our New Orleans (Metairie) neighborhoods, was quite a challenge. But Laura Hudson worked hard (on Hurricane-induced power-lost computer systems, and a no-lights, no-elevator building) to find me a GROUND FLOOR unit, so we didn't have to try to carry 45 pieces of Office Furniture up to the 2nd floor. She was helpful in many other ways, too, so I can't compliment her enough.

Nice and clean facility. Only had an issue when moving out I was apparently given the wrong keys to the lock on my storage costing me $85.00 and two hours of my time to have a locksmith remove the lock. I just felt that it shouldn’t have been on me to cover the cost if I was issued the wrong keys. Management was no help at all and told me that if I had a locksmith come out she would have to supervise him to ensure no damage to the storage (also verified that she was the manager of the facility). When the locksmith arrived she appeared to be busy but never acknowledge the fact that I was standing there with the locksmith man. I walked outside where I saw another associate and asked if she had a moment to monitor the locksmith man to ensure there was no damage and she informed me that usually they don’t monitor work of the locksmith and that we could proceed with the process of removing the lock. Manager who did know that the locksmith man was on site never appeared even through out her emphasis that we needed to be monitored. The entire situation to me was handled poorly and I’ll never return my business to this facility again.

The only disappointing fact is that I was told that I would be charged $40.00 to place trash into your dumpster because it is so small. I had to travel to a city dump making two separate trips.
