There was only one employee working who was not well versed in her job. She was unable to lift the trailer, which normally isn’t an issue for me, I rent often and usually connect the trailer myself. After I coupled the trailer, the employee proceeded to connect the right safety cable to the right side of my truck. I pointed out that they need to cross. She stated that is only if they are chains, since they are cables, it is too difficult to cross them. After discussing further and the employee sticking to her guns that they should not be crossed, I told her that I would do it myself. Crossing the safeties is not only the safest was to secure the trailer, it is U-Haul’s policy. This is directly from the document that U-Haul sent me for this rental. “ The right cable (A) crosses underneath the trailer tongue (B) and hooks to the left side of the tow vehicle permanent hitch (C),”. This employee claimed that is how she was trained. Failure to properly secure the trailer can have deadly consequences. After getting the safety’s crossed, the employee did not connect the break away brake cable to my truck. Again, this defeats the safe towing features of the equipment. This employee was clearly not ready to be the only employee working and is in need of additional training. Up until the point where she refused to cross the safety cables, I had a good experience, but risking the lives of others because it is easier is unacceptable. I rent often from U-Haul, but if this is, in fact, how new employees are being trained, I am highly concerned to be around U-Haul trailers on the road.

5x8 Trailer needs a tongue jack. We had to load unhooked from truck. Tongue is heavy anyway, but after loading we had to use auto shop type floor jack to lift tongue up to hook up.

Tried to charge me an extra $37.40 because they said the truck was not returned with the correct amount of gas. When I told them that I took before and after pictures of the mileage And gas levels they changed their stance and offered to reimburse me. Should never have happened.

Inside of trailers are never 100% clean. Need more loop options inside of trailer to be able to secure the items inside. Only 4 eylets to attached to the floor is not enough. Add a total of 6 - 8 on each side of trailer. (bottom and top).

Be sure not to tell them that if they return the trailer days early that they will get a partial refund. This is not true and though we unloaded quickly motivated by this claim, and returned the trailer over a day early got no refund at all.

Not really sure because at every turn in my dealing with this location they went above and beyond to make this rental as easy and painless as possible. Even when I ran into some problems not related to the rental I was able to extend until the problem was fixed and I could resume travel. Definitely will rent from here again.

The truck had some maintenance issues that should have been addressed before picking up the truck, or at the very minimum, I should have been told about these issues. I had also reserved the truck over the phone with a rep from this location. I provided all the trip details including dates, mileage, and other relevant information. When I went to pick up the truck again, they had to ask for all that information again which wasted time. There is no reason for a customer to have to provide the same details multiple times.

We rent a van from this location on a regular basis. This time the van was beyond dirty inside and out. I had to fix the back door, as it wouldn’t close and the low pressure tire light was on the entire 3 I had the van. I took the van in on day 2 for the tire issue, but they added a little air (not fixing problem) and sent me on my way. The tire pressure reading were also low. Generally a good experience, not this time.

I was not properly charged for my rental. I was charged for driving 30 miles on a in-town rental when I only drove 15 miles. I have yet to receive a receipt reflecting the actual miles driven with a corresponding charge buy my bank is processing the charge for the full 30 miles. I will be pursuing further action.

The trailers are ridiculously heavy and not on jack stands. I hurt my back trying to lift it. Even with two people we struggled. Pictures on line show them On jack stands and that would have prevented me from hurting my back.

I’ve rented numerous times from U-Haul. The truck I rented most recently was the worst equipment I’ve rented. The truck’s windshield leaks badly and it rains inside. When I picked it up, the inside of the windshield needed a windshield wiper, the instrument cluster was soaked in water, and the floor was full of water. I had to ask for towels to clear the inside of the windshield before I could drive off. The wiper on the passenger side was useless. It cleared a path about 3” wide, in the wrong place. The back of the truck was filthy from the last move and was never cleaned out. The employee did offer to sweep it out, but I would’ve had to wait. It should’ve been done when checked in. I left the truck cleaner than I received it.

The man checking us out said “the $30 insurance will cover the truck.” Turns out it doesn’t. It doesn’t cover the TOP of the truck. My husband hit a tree limb and we got charged $200 for a $15 light. Then we were told that the individual that checked him out “shouldn’t have been at the front desk alone” because he is not competent. Thanks a ton.

Staff was very helpful. I was having a hard time getting my straps unhooked from car tow ( weather was issue rainy and cold) staff helped me get the straps and ramps on tow down, they never complained even with cold/rain conditions. Explained the storage policy throughly. Very nice experience.

Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!!!! I got charged $17 for gas even though I left more gas in the truck then when I got it. They told me I was supposed to dispute my issues or whatever 30 MINS!!! after I dropped the truck off. Horrible service, Horrible experience and I'd walk all of my stuff by myself before I use U- HAUL again.

The only problem I had was being called at 6:14am the next morning asking why I hadn't returned the equipment. I had returned it an hour after renting it. After explaining this to the gentleman that had called me he acted as if he was doing me a favor by not charging me a late fee. It was no fault of mine that the employee on staff the night the equipment was returned didn't take the time to check it back in.

Live in Morton Illinois so this was most convenient and easiest location to rent a unit for about 6 hours!!! Unfortunately I found the staff lacking in customer service and courteous. Windshield was extremely dirty with all kinds of bug splatter all over. When I went to get the vehicle I’d assumed it would be parked close by but had to walk 100-150 yards to get truck for myself. Lastly you folks did a great job renovating the old KMart and offering excellent storage options. Since I wasn’t pleased with the staff I went to CubeStorage in Pekin on Broadway. The manager (Faith) was outstanding with customer service and professionalism. Naturally we went with them and again Faith stuck with us through the entire process till storage of our stuff. I’m 80 years old and my expectation is just a little pleasantry when transaction business. Your Morton location could use a program in TLC.

When my husband went to pick up the 6'x12' enclosed trailer, the man that typically lifts the trailer onto the hitch had left, even though we had a scheduled 5:30pm pick-up. My husband had to assist the woman who was there. On his 30 min. drive home, the empty trailer was bucking. He pulled over & discovered he had to tighten the hitch down on the ball 4-5 more turns! It's a good thing my husband did the pick up & is knowledgeable otherwise we could have had a VERY dangerous situation for ourselves & others if the trailer had come off/loose! The inside of the trailer had also not been cleaned out. My husband had to sweep it out before loading our items.

Truly an excellent experience. Manager Zachary Wynd helped me with answers to questions prior to renting and he and his staff were polite and helpful when renting. Could not have had a better experience. Also, I bought a bundle of the moving boxes. Better quality and better price than anything I have seen elsewhere. Need a storage unit? I would definitely recommend this storage facility. It's nice to be able to pull in, out of the elements, to load or unload. They provide carts to haul your stuff, well lit and climate controlled. Great facility and the help was great too.

When reserving our uhual truck the person who answered the phone needs to be more clear on the prices. We understand that due to mileage it can differ but when we are renting trucks they need to be more clear about what all is included in pricing for instance you can’t pay cash without an extra deposit. You can’t use a bank card without it beings considered cash. You can’t split payment between two credit cards, and office staff needs to communicate more clearly with each other.

Moved out of storage unit before rent was due. However, I am STILL being charged for my 2 X-Large units!!! I have called 4 times, and it hasn’t been fixed. I asked them to call me once they handle the situation. They have not. I called 1-800 number, and they said local storage place has to do it themselves. My bill is rising and rising, yet o don’t even have a storage there any longer. I will never go this facility agn or recommend it to anyone else. Ridiculous!!!!

Very nice facility. A suggestion for improvement is to mark the edges of the halls with arrows to the entrance of the building. I got lost a few times trying to exit.

The only reason I said no for the access hours is because I came 1 day before the security entrance would be complete so I have to go between 9-3. It worked out ok and I am happy to have storage in Morton.
